The tone stays low and the railing goes on

We're still waiting to hear about school. I'm not holding my breath.

WaxOnFeckOff · 09/03/2021 18:27

@MrsAmaretto

I take it the places of worship rule is for consecrated places and not for the likes of me who enjoys a knees up in a converted church pub?
I'm sure you could consecrate it yourself?
mibbelucieachwell · 09/03/2021 18:35

Can a church be unconsecrated?

frasersmummy · 09/03/2021 18:50

I'm so sick of the whole situation today. I was widowed about 3 .5 years ago leaving just me and a then 12 year old in the house, he's now 15 and its hard enough steering him through adolescence and exams etc without this bloody lockdown

We are close to Glasgow so we have been in the tightest restrictions since what October??

Working from home lost its novelty a long time ago .. I just want to return to every day chit chat in the office, I want my child to go to school and hang about with his mates.

I want to go out for dinner to mark my teens 16th .. this will be his second birthday in lockdown

Are these simple things really too much to ask for ??

sorry for the self indulgent post.. I just had to get it off my chest

WouldBeGood · 09/03/2021 18:51

@frasersmummy 💐 that sounds really hard. You abd your boy been through enough, avd it’s bloody weird for both of you being stuck home alone no matter how well you get on

GirlLovesWorld · 09/03/2021 18:52

@frasersmummy does the rule on 4 teenagers being able to meet help at all?

ssd · 09/03/2021 18:53

My first thought was churches are back as its mainly older folks who go and they'll be vaccinated

fandabbydoozy · 09/03/2021 19:09

been working all day so just catching up

I think the places of worship thing is stupid and also risky.

I suspect mosques will be busier than churches and as it is the BAME communities who are least likely to get vaccinated then this 50 number may well backfire.

This sounds hard. I feel exactly the same about working from home and about the kids. And I don't have the challenge of being on my own.

Rail and rant away. You are far from alone in wanting something more than what we have right now

Thanks
ssd · 09/03/2021 19:15

Tbh it's another slap in the face for young people.

frasersmummy · 09/03/2021 19:28

Yes it will be better for ds to meet up with his mates for a kick about.. Will deffo be good for his mental health
And I will be OK again tomorrow.. I just have these moments.. I guess we all do

rookiemere · 09/03/2021 20:38

I'm not advocating this mind, but as long as your teenage DC says they are off to hang out with 3 mates - socially distanced of course- then, of course you'd believe them.

Police don't seem keen to stop teens having games of football- although the teens had to move to the hockey pitch as bastard council has cordoned off the football goals.

WouldBeGood · 09/03/2021 20:41

I’d be ecstatic if my ds went out at all! Don’t care who he’s meeting!

Within reason, obviously

@frasersmummy you're also in the right place for railing. No need for resilience or fake smiles here DaffodilBrew.

We're about to face second spate of birthdays in lockdown - DS end of March will be 15 - just had a rather good virtual parents evening bless his cotton socks and mine at start of April.

Next term whatever else happens the DC will be back at school. Restaurants and hotels will reopen, restrictions will have to be lifted at some point even if we're a few weeks behind England it will happen eventually.

OldRailer · 09/03/2021 21:08

frasersmummy no need for apologies.
That sounds very tough indeed.

OldRailer · 09/03/2021 21:10

We have a teen here who really won't be persuaded to go out with friends. They do chat online so that's one positive.

WouldBeGood · 09/03/2021 21:14

That’s the same as mine @OldRailer

OldRailer · 09/03/2021 21:16

Just unfortunate it coincides with school being online.

Ditto!

It’s a storm outside, cannot wait to meet people outdoors ...

Did I hear NS correctly today. She was talking about the ramping up when supplies improve and said something about the date of the vaccine.
Just checked and it’s valid for 6mths, do we have stock that may go out of date? Is this an excuse ahead of time from her, in case our numbers drop.

Cynical me perhaps.

Groovee · 10/03/2021 06:10

Mr G got the all clear from the red zone yesterday when I arrived at work. He's doing ok. Awaiting a scan to check liver and gall bladder. His blood results are really promising.

I'm still coasting along.
