The tone stays low and the railing goes on

pandering to different vote sections do we think? Collective acts of biscuit worship?

WaxOnFeckOff · 09/03/2021 15:36

with membership of Christian/Church of Scotland declining I don't think services are overly full and necessarily with SNP target voters. I agree if you can have 50 in a church service then certainly cinemas/theatres are a similar set up - high ceilings, usually aisles able to be accessed from each side, no reason that limited performances couldn't take place.

rookiemere · 09/03/2021 15:42

Thinking about this one a bit more, I'm not sure that Christian religion is necessarily who it's primarily aimed at.

WouldBeGood · 09/03/2021 15:46

@rookiemere 😂🙄

Oops. Meant 😂 not eye roll

Perhaps for some religions the inability to meet in public has resulted in private house gatherings which can't be as controlled. Possibly resulting in the numbers sticking stubbornly high ?
Sorry if that sounds biased - it isn't meant to and I genuinely don't care about backgrounds or faith. It's just a hypothesis as the numbers seem crazily out of proportion with the rest of the guidelines and tiny relaxation.

WouldBeGood · 09/03/2021 15:47

Freedom of worship is a fundamental human right

OP posts:
rookiemere · 09/03/2021 15:49

But lots of things that are - or should be - a fundamental right are off-limits to us at the minute, what makes religion so special?

mibbelucieachwell · 09/03/2021 15:51

Grin at the newly formed churches.

WouldBeGood · 09/03/2021 16:06

Did someone not mention before that a church had begun legal action??

OP posts:
Icannever · 09/03/2021 16:08

Is it maybe because churches were threatening to sue the government or some such thing and as it infringed on freedom of religion they might have actually had a case? Not sure.

Icannever · 09/03/2021 16:13

We’ve been meeting other couples with kids for walks but we’ve done it by dropping one half off at one end of the walk, the other half driving to the other end and parking. Then when we meet/cross over on the middle we pass over car keys and the original drivers are picked up at the end of the walk. That was a complicated way of putting what’s actually a pretty simple thing 😀
Anyhow it’s been good, we’ve been getting parts of a long distance walk done. So meeting four people won’t make much difference really

RaspberryCoulis · 09/03/2021 16:38

As I posted on the main forum, I am totally underwhelmed by Saint Nic's declaration that we can now meet 2 adults from another household outdoors. Whoop de doo. So pretty much what everyone's been doing since Christmas then?

Done with it, to be honest. Kids in England are back full time, we've just had an email from the local authority going on about blended learning, masks and social distancing. So really, no school until the end of Easter holidays then? Call a spade a shovel at least.

Lots of quiet law breaking going on round here. Kids in and out of each other's houses. Adults likewise. Had a guy round this morning to measure up for a bathroom renovation - not essential - and this is a company operating from showroom premises and not a wee dodgy one man band operation.

Past caring to be honest. My parents however are very law abiding and won't see us because Saint Nicola says they can't.

WouldBeGood · 09/03/2021 16:43

This is what happens when the law is obviously an ass.

I’m also having work done soon.

On my house, not my face, though god knows that wouldn’t go amiss.

The shower room being made over is, according to DD, a crime against humanity. It's very early 90s, very peach, very not modern. Even in non covid times I would keep my distance when plumbers/tilers/electricians are working. It's very, very low risk and in the same bracket as getting your boiler fixed which has been allowed throughout. Don't most people just point the plumber in the direction of the bathroom and leave them to it?

Had a very good meal at home last weekend from Topolabamba via Itison, would recommend if you're in Glasgow. Takeaway tonight because I can't be arsed cooking. Again.

emmathedilemma · 09/03/2021 16:55

50 people in church but the capacity of my gym (under covid measures) was 16 socially distanced! Madness.
At least it looks like we might get running clubs back @DeepfriedPizza

WouldBeGood · 09/03/2021 17:09

I only follow my tradesmen round if they are very handsome. But I rarely lick them.

I have to admit I am quite pleased that garden socialising is allowed so we can get some use out of our rather needy chiminea, and my outdoor exercise class can restart although our neighbour the instructor has injured her foot so I may need to push her in a wheelbarrow to the field for the class.

WouldBeGood · 09/03/2021 17:22

I’m relatively pleased about my child’s school. They’re in one full day a week each week and looks fairly normal.

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 09/03/2021 17:23

@rookiemere think of the fitness benefits of the wheelbarrow push!

OP posts:
rookiemere · 09/03/2021 17:29

I did mention that too her, but she remains unconvinced- perhaps because there are no wheelbarrows with 2mt handles.

MrsAmaretto · 09/03/2021 18:18

I take it the places of worship rule is for consecrated places and not for the likes of me who enjoys a knees up in a converted church pub?
