The tone stays low and the railing goes on

teachers have been fed a consistent diet of terrible regulations this year - in at least some US states, teachers are supposed to concurrently teach live and remote learning classes for parents that don't want to send their children in. I'd love to see the data on teacher retention around the world, you'd expect there to be a further covid dip.

WouldBeGood · 09/03/2021 10:28

Yep. My fury and upset about the education fiasco is directed squarely at government, not schools or teachers. It must be a bloody nightmare.

*and the EiS it must be said, for constant doom

seems like 4 people from 2 households ......whoopiedoo! Let's face it, a lot of people are already doing this based on the number of couples walking one pair in front of the other pretending to be in a 2 not a 4, and it's hardly going to alleviate any feelings of social isolation is it, just means you don't have to pick your favourite half a couple to go for yet another goddamn walk with. And it's going to make the already packed parks and green spaces even busier and harder to social distance from people.
I'm feckin' done with this now!

shouldistop · 09/03/2021 11:01

Yep, I don't know anyone paying attention to the 2 adult rule

WaxOnFeckOff · 09/03/2021 11:03

Most of my family or friends have adult DC that live with them (as do we) so 4 from 2 makes no odds in terms of meeting in the garden or whatever.

It still means that I can't go for a walk with 2 friends as that's 3 households.

It's a farce.

DeepfriedPizza · 09/03/2021 11:04

From what I have seen when out and about nobody is paying attention to the meeting one adult rule.

It will be disappointing if she says no garden socialising. My mother in law is my drinking buddy and I wanted to get sloshed in the garden (DH doesn't drink)

shouldistop · 09/03/2021 11:06

@DeepfriedPizza do you think your neighbours would report you? If not, then I'd just invite your mil for a garden drink.

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 09/03/2021 11:07

Is garden socialising currently against the rules then? Surely outside is outside? I agree that swapping from 2 to 4 outside makes no functional difference as people are already walking in groups far bigger than that. As far as I'm concerned, that doesn't count as an 'easing'. I wonder if there'll be anything else or will that be it?

WouldBeGood · 09/03/2021 11:08

Yes, it’s not allowed. It’s currently one person for exercise outwith the home

OP posts:
WaxOnFeckOff · 09/03/2021 11:16

At one point walking groups for exercise were allowed but you weren't allowed to go informal walking with more than 1 person, so 2 friends and i just came up with a group name, set up a WhatsApp group in that name and put a pound in to the walking group as a fee.

Now that's not allowed either but I've met up as a 3 a couple of times but we feel awkward and likely to either get reported or shamed on local social media. Hence trying to go in the dark and stick to quiet areas but that doesn't really help with vit D.

WouldBeGood · 09/03/2021 11:20

Just ridiculous now. And counter productive.

Good to see the tories calling for gyms to open before 26th April.

OP posts:
rookiemere · 09/03/2021 11:24

I'm hoping they go back to groups of six for teenagers

Iwouldratherbesailing · 09/03/2021 11:24

No one has ever paid any attention to 2 people from 2 households compared to 4 people from 2 households have they as IT MAKES NO SENSE. I mean a couple meet another couple for a walk, and have to split into pairs. If one of the halves of a couple picks it up from the other couple then they are likely to give it to their other half regardless. We’re now going from two houses mixing to two houses mixing. No change in my mind.

emmathedilemma · 09/03/2021 11:35

@WaxOnFeckOff the group exercise thing was allowed for clubs that have governing bodies with Covid safe procedures, not just a group of mates making up their own "club". e.g .running clubs following Scottish Athletics guidance were allowed to train in groups but you couldn't meet 12 mates to go for a run together.
But I don't blame you though because the risk of transmission outside is so low and I think if you're grown adults you should be able to make your own assessment of the risks involved.

DeepfriedPizza · 09/03/2021 11:45

We'd go to MIL's garden but I don't think her neighbour would report so we might just dot it.

I am a member of a running club. At one point we were allowed to run with 15 people as long as the group was registered with Scottish Athletics. A sub group was set up and a training session was set up at a park in Glasgow. We were publicly hung drawn and quartered over facebook including our photos taken and posted. The people with pitch forks obviously didn't know whe SA rules. So even if rules allow you are still going to get publicly shot.

well yes :o It was never intended to stand up to external scrutiny but for 3 adults who all work from home and have brains in our heads it seemed like a sensible thing and was really only if we were stopped.

Honestly believe that we've stuck to the restrictions more than 95% of the country and a stroll round for an hour with 2 people a couple of times a week isn't risky behaviour. We've missed being able to go a bit further but don't want to take 3 cars so are restricted to one arriving by car and the other two walking to meet them. I hate it it's pointless and it's the fear of being targeted/punished rather than the fear of catching covid that's the issue.

GirlLovesWorld · 09/03/2021 12:46

Bloody hell what is wrong with people @DeepfriedPizza Confused

DeepfriedPizza · 09/03/2021 13:54

It was bonkers GirlLovesWorld It was September/October I think and I had been really rigid with sticking to the rules so I was raging.

I got DD to try on her polo shirts for Monday. I had bought 10 polo shirts in August because the uniform was more relaxed and they could wear leggings/shorts/joggies with polo shirts but now not one of her polo shirts fit!! Now I need to buy more bastarding polo shirts and what happens if they go back to home schooling before June?!?!

OldRailer · 09/03/2021 14:28

Well now I don't like to moan but..
parking myself here! 😉

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 09/03/2021 14:52

She is going to let that old firm go ahead. I can't take this bullshit standing up there all sanctimonious when she could just cancel it. Over government are an utter embarrassment. It's ok though cause I can have a wine out the back door with my pal.

DeepfriedPizza · 09/03/2021 15:12

You can also go to church. We are positively spoiled

WaxOnFeckOff · 09/03/2021 15:18

feeling the need now to form my own church and invite the congregation round to SD at mine. Congregation only consists of my family and friends

WouldBeGood · 09/03/2021 15:24

Yes, good idea @WaxOnFeckOff

I’ll call mine the Scottish Unorthodox Church of St Railer

OP posts:
rookiemere · 09/03/2021 15:28

Yeah @WaxOnFeckOff 50 people allowed inside for a service- probably not weddings or funerals though as they may not be proper religious people and therefore more likely to spread covid Hmm.

It's nonsense. If 50 people can meet inside safely in a church then why not a cinema or theatre or gym? We live in a secular society so why priority for religious meetings?

Sootess · 09/03/2021 15:31
