The tone stays low and the railing goes on

I've got some lovely day trips planned Grin

anon444877 · 22/03/2021 18:08

I agree max shop assistants and delivery drivers have been taking all the risks through-out.

Yes I'm deeply selfish not to want to be locked down any longer.

WouldBeGood · 22/03/2021 18:10

Sounds great @RaspberryCoulis! It’s so nice to do something normal.

I’m excitedly planning a trip to the beach, probably involving ice cream and chips.

Now that winter is done (I am a bit of a fair weather walker) I'm planning to get some more hillwalking in, quite fancy a jaunt up to Glencoe in early April.
Hopefully I won't give covid to any... grass? Peatbogs?

WouldBeGood · 22/03/2021 18:17

Just don’t lick the sheep, @MaxNormal

I hate all outdoor activities so am gagging for proper civilised inside stuff to open.

@MaxNormal

Tbh I often think how selfish people are who would happily work from home forever keeping "safe" in their nice warm. large houses with gardens, outsourcing all their risk to zero hours contractors who bring them groceries and Amazon deliveries.
I'm at work right now. It's completely non-essential and I've had to be in close quarters with about 8 others all day. It pisses me right off and I don't feel very safe.

I'm railing against the prevailing attitude that as the over 65s are mostly vaccinated, we should offer our health up and just see what happens.

No fucking thanks. I stayed home as long as I could to protect the vulnerable, now I'd like to be protected too instead of being expected to go back to normal living as the NHS is functioning Hmm

MaxNormal · 22/03/2021 18:20

But no-one on this thread has any power over that, do they? I'm personally more than happy to take my chances right now but again unfortunately not up to me.

Plus I thought all the over 50s and vulnerable were done now or is Scotland still being crap there?

WouldBeGood · 22/03/2021 18:21

You’re entitled to that view @UnderHisAye

Frankly I’m desperate to get back to actually living but each to their own.

I’m more a good time, not a long time person. Hence my hedonistic approach to life.

My life has been shit up til three years ago, and I’m determined to enjoy whatever is left!

I must say it takes the shine off a walk if there's no cafe/pub as a reward.

shouldistop · 22/03/2021 18:24

@MaxNormal I think Scotland's still being crap. My parents are mid 60s are were only vaccinated today. DH has quite severe asthma and he's heard nothing.

I’m thinking of a trip to England in an area where we could walk from pub to pub as a relatively wholesome holiday

this thread is becoming extremely hurtful

I've been working from home because I'm vulnerable and I want to keep working from home so I don't have to struggle with face masks (when I can't lip read) or social distance (when I can't see properly).

But apparently I'm selfish to want to keep doing this

And people on here don't care if there's a third wave as long as THEY are safe. They think the vulnerable are all jagged, assuming vulnerable is the old folk and no one else can get sick.

I want to get back to normal, but this is NOT normal.

And please, save me all the "oh I didn't mean you" bullshit

One whole fucking year of staying indoors and people think I do it out of choice. Ignorant arseholes.

fandabbydoozy · 22/03/2021 18:30

have reported a PP for being misleading about the vaccine progress.

snowcoveredcampsies · 22/03/2021 18:32

What was misleading @fandabbydoozy ?

WouldBeGood · 22/03/2021 18:33

I’m not worried about me being safe.

I haven’t called people selfish.

It’s fine to rail for continued measures, if that’s what you feel @jabbathebutt. But it’s a bit off calling people ignorant arseholes because they don’t agree with you.

No Jabba. You do you.

If you want to stay working from home or feel you have to, and not leaving the house then crack on. Not selfish. You assess your own risk.

But don't come on threads where those of us with a much lower risk are doing exactly the same thing - assessing our own risks - and tell us we can't or are being "hurtful".

WouldBeGood · 22/03/2021 18:36

Can we just get back to guilt free railing? Without insults?

OP posts:
snowcoveredcampsies · 22/03/2021 18:38

There's the problem. Railing isn't guilt free when folk are railing against the rules, doing what they please and putting vulnerable people in danger potentially.

WouldBeGood · 22/03/2021 18:39

Wring thread for you then 🤷🏻‍♀️

OP posts:
snowcoveredcampsies · 22/03/2021 18:41

No skin off my nose. I'm not bothered. I like railing. I'll stay right here thanks 😊 I'm just pointing out why some people who are vulnerable might be offended.

Every time you go on about let's just get on with it I can see why they would take that as a big eff you lot. It's dismissive.

You are of course entitled to your own opinion.

MaxNormal · 22/03/2021 18:48

jabba you need to keep living in a way that makes you comfortable.
But people are at their limits now, in many ways, and calling them selfish arseholes is deeply unfair.

WouldBeGood · 22/03/2021 18:50

Thanks @snowcoveredcampsies! You remind me of another poster who used to be around these parts

I don't feel guilty though, you just think I should.

Except that nobody is putting the vulnerable in danger. Anyone who still has to stay at home for their own reasons are as safe at home as they ever were. How has that changed? This is a great thread for railing, guilt free a.k.a living your life in accordance with what your own situation is, acting like a responsible grown up as we did way back in 2019. There’s plenty of threads across MN for those who wish to take a different POV on where we’re all at or indeed judge others for their own family decisions.

Back to railing🤗

RaspberryCoulis · 22/03/2021 19:01

No I don't feel Guilty either. If you're upset with what you're reading Jana, then hide the thread.
