What i mean is can you just ask when your appointment is @WouldBeGood

WouldBeGood · 17/03/2021 19:21

Yes, @ssd the 0800 one. Pressed the buttons for should have one but not got it, and got a really lovely woman who was very helpful.

@rookiemere I’m 51. I am genuinely caring and seeing loads of old relatives and helpers, etc, now cos of the death thing. So I felt it was justified, as also if I’m ill then everything falls apart

ssd · 17/03/2021 19:31

@WouldBeGood, thanks for that, I'll call them tomorrow.

rookiemere · 17/03/2021 19:53

@WouldBeGood it sounds like you genuinely justify for the carers jab. I'm 50 so hopefully DH and I will get our first jab before end of March.

shouldistop · 17/03/2021 19:55

@rookiemere my dm & step are 64 and are only getting theirs next week.

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 17/03/2021 20:08

Is the English supply shortage going to affect us up here?

Bytheloch · 17/03/2021 20:44

@icanboogieboogiewoogie

Is the English supply shortage going to affect us up here?
The UK supply? If there’s distribution issues impacting the U.K. supply chain, then yes it’s likely we’ll see reprioritising of the supplies, such as the second jab for those that need it, before many of us have our first.
ssd · 17/03/2021 21:15

I heard on the news the priority groups 1-9 have been allocated the vaccine already, even if they haven't got a letter yet.
Its the next group down who will be affected.

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 17/03/2021 21:35

The breaking news I read was regarding English health boards. I wasn't sure if it was areas who hadn't had their allocation yet. According to the news the Scottish Gov don't seem entirely clear on what extent it will affect supply up here.

Rassy · 17/03/2021 21:43

I really hope this is the case. I nearly cried when I saw the breaking news this afternoon. Am 51 and waiting for letter as is DH who is 54. Know loads my age who have got appointments etc. I have a case of severe vaccine envy!
RaindropsSplashRainbows · 17/03/2021 21:48

There is going to be a dip in supplies coming into the UK.

RaindropsSplashRainbows · 17/03/2021 21:50

Sounds like they will have to be more "stingy" with vaccinations for the next wee while.

ssd · 17/03/2021 22:12

@Rassy, yes I was really anxious reading the news about the shortages but it definitely said earlier on the news that the age over 50 already had the vaccine booked so they aren't affected by this shortage, its the next groups that will have to wait a but longer.

jabbathebutt · 17/03/2021 22:30

oh great, that's all I fucking need, on top of being "vulnerable" but not vulnerable enough to get my fucking jag, I might have to wait even longer now. Need to wait and see if the helpline folk get back to me.

Sorry for constantly moaning about my jag.

Also not happy about face masks and social distancing being here to stay either.

littlbrowndog · 17/03/2021 22:39

Oh jabba sorry many hugs for you

Lockdownbear · 18/03/2021 00:54

Just catching up.
I don't get it, if the other country's are pausing the AZ roll out why aren't they sending more AZ vaccine to the UK?
Personally id rather take my chances with a blood clot than covid? Or is my risk assessment totally wrong?

WouldBeGood · 18/03/2021 02:19

@Lockdownbear no, I agree. From my looking around there’s no increased risk of blood clots anyway.

I don’t really understand either as were we not told that the UK had supplies for all and should be sharing them?

OP posts:
icanboogieboogiewoogie · 18/03/2021 07:02

@Lockdownbear They're being pretty cagey about the whole thing, is the impression I get. Most people are assuming it's the EU but no one seems to know for sure.

Icannever · 18/03/2021 07:32

The news today is that normal level of supplies will continue but we were supposed to get a big boost supply of ten million doses of Astra Zeneca from
India and that has been delayed. As there are now lots of second doses due, less first doses will be able to be given

anon444877 · 18/03/2021 07:46

Vaccines are personal choice anyway, under 50 and no underlying conditions here and I'd rather the vulnerable in the rest of the world were prioritised.

This vaccine politics hasn't been any country's finest hour.

UnderHisAye · 18/03/2021 08:53

I heard a French politician speak about this last night, and they only paused for three days to investigate the data, and they should make a decision today. Doesn't seem like they were anywhere close to deciding not to use the doses they have.
ResilienceWanker · 18/03/2021 08:56

I thought that the plan was to get all the over 50s/ vulnerable/ carers first dozes by mid April, while doing as many second dozes as possible in that time too. And then they would move onto the under 50s. Is that no longer the plan with the dip in supply? I'm mid early 40s and wasn't expecting to get it til after mid April - probably well into May. I know some areas - in England mostly, but also some of the faster Scottish areas- were a bit ahead of schedule and had moved to the under 50s for some reason rather than focusing on 2nd dozes, but I wasn't assuming that was the overall plan. But it seems others on other threads were assuming they would have been done before Easter if it hadn't been for those meddling Europeans. Have I grossly misunderstood stuff?

Sorry you're still struggling jabba Flowers Sounds very frustrating.

DeepfriedPizza · 18/03/2021 09:17

Jabba, don't apologise for moaning, you seem to be someone who has fallen through the cracks and should definitely be on "the list"

I hope the AZ drama doesn't stop the roll out here. Obviously no one wants a blood clot but no one wants covid either.

Icannever · 18/03/2021 09:28

@ResilienceWanker I think that was the plan but then there was talk of this massive boost and up scaling and people got excited (understandably). Just doing simple maths if they were to be doing 400,000 vaccinations a week it would seem logical under 50s would be vaccinated sooner rather than later. It’s disappointing that looks like it’s not going to happen and we’re back to everyone before the end of July again I guess
