I was feeling uncharacteristically upbeat yesterday... Think it was the weather. But I'm back to my normal whiney self today. I was just glad that there was some recognition that there may be an end to all this. But actually, we still can't leave our homes "unless essential" for another 3 weeks. We can't go to a shop unless a homeware store or car showroom for 6 (?). Whoop de doo. We'll be able to have booze outside a restaurant then too, but not inside... We may or may not be able to travel to see friends and family in England, or have them come up here, or even have English people staying in Scotland for a holiday Shock from May... when will we know if that's "allowed" ? Cos surely if there is more chance of a trip from England to Spain than there is from England to Scotland, people will book that. Children aren't even back at school properly for another month. I realise that's because of the school holidays (where, once again, they won't be able to do anything with their friends that isn't outside) but it's hardly a positive picture of the country getting back to normal because of the vaccine that was portrayed. Maybe if they sped up with the vaccine programme things would be a bit quicker?

And yes, appointments... I know online mustn't be the only way people are called, but surely having it as an option makes sense. And anyone who isn't recorded as having booked over a certain timescale is followed up by their GP or whatever. I'm still not entirely sure why GP surgeries aren't just giving the jag to everyone on their books at the surgery itself if they can't get to another hub. Yes it's a lot of people, but it shouldn't take that long if they scheduled a few days for everyone of a certain age/ class to turn up and be prepared to wait (in cars if necessary). It'd be much easier for me to walk the 10 mins to our surgery and expect to queue for a bit, than to be told when to turn up at a hub on a day I can't necessarily make, at a time that isn't necessarily convenient.

Who can use the registration service?

There are an estimated 700,000 people in Scotland who care for a friend, family member or neighbour affected by a disability, physical or mental ill-health, frailty or substance misuse. Many don’t see what they do as caring, it’s just what they do.

If you are aged 16 or over and provide face-to-face care for family or friends who need extra support, you’re now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.

Providing face-to-face care can be anything from doing the shopping and preparing meals to giving personal and practical support. If that sounds like you, it’s time to roll up your sleeve.

All eligible carers who haven’t already received their first coronavirus vaccine or a vaccine invitation letter should use the registration system.

By getting the vaccine, those caring for others can protect themselves from the virus, while continuing to look after and protect others.

@littlbrowndog

I think nhs are trying to get more people to book jabs and opening up to the over 50s and others in different groups

From nhs below

Book now if you're eligible

You do not need to wait to be contacted if any of the following apply:

you are aged 50 or over
you are at high risk from coronavirus (clinically extremely vulnerable)
you are an eligible frontline health or social care worker
you have a condition that puts you at higher risk (clinically vulnerable)
you have a learning disability
you are a main carer for someone at high risk from coronavirus
You can book appointments at a larger vaccination centre or a pharmacy that provides COVID-19 vaccinations.

Ooooh. That's promising. Does it give details of how to contact the jab centres or pharmacies?
ResilienceWanker · 17/03/2021 09:22

Sorry... Just seen that's for England. COME ON SCOTLAND... YOU CAN DO IT TOO YOU KNOW.

littlbrowndog · 17/03/2021 09:22

Sorry resilience

That is for uk

I have started fake news.

Sorry.

littlbrowndog · 17/03/2021 09:23

But the carers thing is for Scotland

It might affect people on here who help their parents or other relatives

RaspberryCoulis · 17/03/2021 09:23

Online booking isn't the only way to get your jab in England. Not sure how it works but relatives south of the border have been contacted with appointments rather than logging on.

ResilienceWanker · 17/03/2021 09:23

Grin No worries. I am just horribly behind on the thread and posted before reading the whole lot.

littlbrowndog · 17/03/2021 09:24

Oh god. I meant England not uk

Toddler interacting with cat. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

WouldBeGood · 17/03/2021 09:25

Actually, I’m now having to go up regularly to care for my elderly aunt. Totally incapacitated and alone. Wonder if that would count?

WouldBeGood · 17/03/2021 09:33

Thanks @littlbrowndog I do indeed qualify on those grounds, so I’ve registered. Brilliant!

I registered the other day too @WouldBeGood and got a text saying I'll get details of my first appointment within 72 hours. I'm on tenterhooks, it's been 40 hours so far Grin

littlbrowndog · 17/03/2021 10:12

That’s great both

Wouldbegood. That’s a day out legally on the 27th 😂😂😂

littlbrowndog · 17/03/2021 10:21

Cmon Scotland

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/03/2021 10:23

Perfect timing- DH's blue envelope just dropped through the door

UnderHisAye · 17/03/2021 10:29

We got one yesterday in the post - for the guy who used to live here 😬

WaxOnFeckOff · 17/03/2021 10:34

My council seem to be doing more or less average. The % amount jabbed is similar to the % in Scotland overall.

DH got a letter last week and he'd be in the over 55 to 60 group.

I'm in the group below so when I get my letter I guess we can judge gap and lively completion roughly.

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/03/2021 10:43

DH is NHS Lothian, group 6, if that is useful.

UnderHisAye · 17/03/2021 11:35

Guys, do any of you know how to unhide a thread? I hid the most recent tiers thread by accident with my big fat thumb Grin

If you are on the app then on the main screen there is a bit to click on left hand top of screen, that gives a couple of options, under one of those is a bit where you can access hidden threads. I presume if you open one you might be able to unhide? I don't have any in there to try.
