I agree anon. I don't think any major changes will be announced on Tuesday to happen this week, but I do hope we're given more idea of timescales, and what "coming out of lockdown" will actually look like. Seeing as they've apparently changed their mind on strategy since they published their strategic roadmap. Hmm

I know I keep saying this, but I really do think they are going to be very coy on travel around rUK. They know that as soon as England announces travel is allowed, we will be off like rockets... especially if international travel is allowed. If Scotland still has quarantine hotels, we will just go from Manchester, or Newcastle or Heathrow. And England doesn't have an elimination strategy so, if we do, we can't allow people to just swan in and out without quarantining (I don't think that's right or possible - just that is what is required for an elimination strategy). They may not be able to enforce border closures legally, but I do think they will do their best by telling us we mustn't go unless essential, or must quarantine for 10 days after a trip to England or whatever. Which will kill tourism in Scotland other than for the home market, and likely business that requires cross boundary travel, but Only Covid Matters. Obviously.

@fandabbydoozy

BA planning travel passes for those who have had both jags.

So those of us under 50 are unlikely to get a foreign holiday it seems.

And all children. Vaccine isn't licensed for under 16s
Bytheloch · 14/03/2021 14:14

It’ll be available as a private paid-for vaccine soon enough. Those that can still afford long haul trips, can afford a private jag too.

shouldistop · 14/03/2021 14:22

I don't think it will be available privately for quite a while. They'll focus on vaccination in the developing countries first.

ssd · 14/03/2021 14:28

I think all this we can't buy the vaccine will come out in the wash later. I think we'll hear of like the government, the Royal family, the likes of millionaires etc getting the vaccine early. I know I sound cynical but I really think there is a scandal waiting to be heard in later years.

Myfrenchfriend · 14/03/2021 17:12

Don’t thing so @ssd as the royals so far have been in age order like the rest of us.

tiredoftiers · 14/03/2021 17:13

Nobody up here is being issued with evidence of immunisation. Folk in England are given vaccine record cards, no way they are going to go back and retrospectively issue these.

ResilienceWanker · 14/03/2021 17:28

The cynic in me thinks that's to stop us taking advantage of any "vaccine passport" schemes other countries may introduce. If we can't prove, officially, we have been vaccinated, we won't be able to travel abroad. So we won't be able to go against NSs pronouncements against international travel. The reasonable part of me thinks that's a ridiculous notion, and the SG wouldn't have been so mean, cunning and forward thinking or organised to have planned it like that. But there is a little part of me that still thinks that's the plan...

I know, but I'm very cynical
Coquohvan · 14/03/2021 19:17

IF passports are to be used Im thinking our GP’s will issue them for a charge.

ssd · 14/03/2021 20:51

I know 2 people early 60s, one getting their first vaccine end of march, lives in Glasgow, 2nd person getting their 2nd vaccine soon, lives in London. Neither are category 6.

So unfair how we are kept waiting up here.

DS3 got the jab today, not entirely sure why as he's a healthy 16 year old (who happens to have ADHD) but i decided not to look a gift horse in the mouth, especially as he's back at school, as a PP said he didn't get a card.

I didn’t get a card after my vaccine either on Saturday
Peppafrig · 15/03/2021 09:48

I really hope the government address this vaccine thing today more and more countries refusing to use astrazeneca vaccine. I’m petrified I only had it on Saturday.

Wbeezer · 15/03/2021 11:07

It wouldn't bother me, the blood clot risk has not been proved and the risk from catching Covid is much worse (including blood clots). I think if it slows down their vaccination rate significantly those countries that have suspended will regret it. Im not saying your silly to worry or anything, this bloomin virus has given most of us a degree of health anxiety.

WaxOnFeckOff · 15/03/2021 11:25

Call me cynical, but it's strange that it's mainly EU countries and it's a UK developed vaccine?

anon444877 · 15/03/2021 11:26

perhaps a good idea would be to look up blood clot prevention tips as things like keeping moving can help. I'm sure it'll be addressed - so many people have had that Oxford vaccine, I doubt it'll turn out to be anything.

Taking any kind of hormonal contraception comes with a blood clot warning doesn't it?

RaspberryCoulis · 15/03/2021 12:08

Fuck me, is anyone watching that awful Deepti woman? Close all schools, keep them school, primary schools are minging, children are spreading. She can FUCK RIGHT OFF.

They really need to stop interviewing people who are "experts" in one very narrow field only. My 12 year old literally skipped out the door this morning, so excited about getting into school even if it was for just 2 periods.

Peppafrig · 15/03/2021 12:08

Thanks so much for the links . I know I’m being unreasonable. My friend is a nurse and she says if you knew how many people died from taking any medicine it would make you think twice . People can react to anything even simple paracetamol. It’s just so worrying and I’ve already heard people at work saying they won’t get it now.

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 15/03/2021 12:10

@RaspberryCoulis I just came on to post about her. Christ they won't be happy until kids are just not allowed in the buildings at all.

RaspberryCoulis · 15/03/2021 12:33

She's an epidemiology expert - fine. We all know that the most effective way to stop anyone transmitting a virus is to lock everyone up forever.

Spread is not the ONLY consideration, but for Deepti it is. She isn't an expert in anything but viruses. So what she's saying is clearly skewed, but the presenters don't pick her up on that.
