Rangers fans celebrating in a pandemic

No social distancing at all, few masks in sight. Apparently at least 1000 outside ibrox , hundreds in George square.

Total superspreader events, even outside. The new viruses are much easier to catch.

Bloody great.

If anyone thinks Celtic wouldn't have been out in force if they had won "10" then they're just delusional, as as for better behaved - sorry, laughing too much to type"

Yep, probably. Let's get rid of the old firm entirely. And ban sectarian marches of any flavour while we're at it.

MoreMorelos · 08/03/2021 12:44

Not angry and no chequered history, we are top of the world at the moment and no daft comments will bring us down, as the saying goes "no one likes us, we don't care". Have a nice day

You want to kill Scottish football then? Yeah can see that happening
snowcoveredcampsies · 08/03/2021 12:45

@MoreMorelos do you mean this? Oh no sorry this is a bomb from a rangers fan. Hmm

Yes I would love it if the whole hate filled nonsense was banned.

Rangers fans celebrating in a pandemic
thedevilinablackdress · 08/03/2021 12:47

I don't care about football, but the fans I know think that the old firm is a disgrace to it.

snowcoveredcampsies · 08/03/2021 12:48

I think Scottish football would thrive without the old firm.

MoreMorelos · 08/03/2021 12:49

Sorry @snowcoveredcampsies I don't have enough time to sit and link everything Celtic fans have done. There's problems on both sides, but nothing like bashing Rangers is there. Anyway as I said, have a nice day, cheerio

By pretending that sectarianism doesn’t exist? Like it or not, these bigots are part of Scotland and won’t vanish if you cancel football clubs.
snowcoveredcampsies · 08/03/2021 12:51

@MoreMorelos 👋🏻

snowcoveredcampsies · 08/03/2021 12:58

@Snookie00 yes to be fair it's probably not as simple as I suggest.

Savaged by John Swinney.Not

Aye right

RJnomore1 · 08/03/2021 13:11

I think the 21st needs cancelled now. I don’t see how it ends up anything but a shit show between the Neanderthals on both side.

And martial law yesterday? I don’t think so. A strong police presence at the stations turning round everyone in a ranger stop with a Union Jack nd no proof of residence in Glasgow would have stopped things escalating. As would enforcements of existing laws about street drinking.

What didn’t help... guard of honour to the city centre, getting photos with fans hugging you and joining in the bouncy I imagine...

LoopyGremlin · 08/03/2021 13:12

This is the reason I have discouraged my son from football. Complete knuckle draggers on both sides of the divide. Chanting about events from hundreds of years ago. Get a grip.

thedevilinablackdress · 08/03/2021 13:12

True, but it stops them having a 'legitimate' focus for their hate and an excuse to go out every week singing their bigoted songs and fighting.

WhiskyIrnBru · 08/03/2021 13:15

MoreMorelos.

How embarrassing. Your blue tinted specs are tainting everything.

Your club is rife with hate and bigotry.

'You are the people.' You believe you are better than Catholics and those of Irish descent.

That's a fact.

You sing about the famine and how those of Irish descent should go on home. Being up to knees in 'Fenian blood'

Absolute Whataboutery.
The fact is rangers and their ilk consistently cause trouble and your club consistently ignores it.

Other clubs aren't perfect but there isn't the level of hatred and bigotry that rangers fans have for...well...anyone who isn't them.

And yes, I have had first hand experience. When I was 9 I was spat on by a guy in a rangers trip for being a 'fenian b*stard'. My crime was wearing my catholic school uniform on a bus.

So sorry if I don't feel any sympathy for poor rangers fans being victimised for celebrating.

Yes,theres knuckle draggers but the majority are decent fans who just love their club and football. I dont get it at all but I live with it so see it for what it is. And I dont particularly like the sniffy attitude on mn towards old firm fans.

The 21st will go ahead and I predict more carnage. There are animals on both side of the fence. Celtic would have done the same if they got the 10.

MoreMorelos · 08/03/2021 13:16

Arseholes are arseholes, if they don't have football banners to use they will just pick something else 🤷🏻‍♀️

Removing the old firm would kill Scottish football, there would be no money in it, Sky aren't going to pay out to show St Mirren v St Johnston for example each week. Also a lot of fans would just migrate to another team whilst they still existed

Snookie00 · 08/03/2021 13:18

@RJnomore1. We have policing (and lockdown) by consent in this country. Increasing numbers are withdrawing their consent to the lockdown restrictions. It was always going to happen when you restrict people’s freedoms for such a long period.

And no I wasn’t part of the crowd in Glasgow and personally think they were morons but I’m not blinkered enough to realise that these people exist and that many people just don’t give a shit about covid restrictions any more.

And of course nothing is pelted at Gers fans no? No derogatory songs sang at us? After the last 10 years yes, there is a lot of bad feeling towards the other clubs for how we were treated. But no other club can sit on a crystal pedestal either. My clubs fans have their problems, as does every other club, but hey it's more fun to bash us isn't it
Wakeupin2022 · 08/03/2021 13:25

I don't really think Rangers = Evil, Celtic = good / victims narrative that is often found in Scotland really helps the situation.

And it probably played quite a big part in the behaviour yesterday in a city / area that already feels hard done by by NS and the constant lockdowns.

thedevilinablackdress · 08/03/2021 13:27

I know plenty of old firm fans that are lovely people. Unfortunately the whole thing is so tainted by hate and violence.

ParkheadParadise · 08/03/2021 13:29

It's GCC employees I feel for having to clean up George Square this morning. Broken benches and bottles.
It's fucking disgraceful.

thedevilinablackdress · 08/03/2021 13:31

Arseholes are arseholes, if they don't have football banners to use they will just pick something else 🤷🏻‍♀️

Such as? What else will give them a focus for religious hate?

Removing the old firm would kill Scottish football, there would be no money in it, Sky aren't going to pay out to show St Mirren v St Johnston for example each week. Also a lot of fans would just migrate to another team whilst they still existed

Well if they migrate to a team without the history of hate and bigotry, good. And those teams will have more fans, more money and Sky will be happy.
