We might be allowed to socialise outside tomorrow. Smashing but it's fucking freezing.

WouldBeGood · 08/03/2021 15:07

I’m looking out my window and just planning the fun I will have ...

Might be allowed to socialize outside tomorrow. Just super, the weather app says it's to rain all week.

Oh well at least the Rangers fans got to enjoy their win in the dry.

WouldBeGood · 08/03/2021 15:16

When you say socialise, I take it it’s not in the normal sense of being fun?

Lockdownbear · 08/03/2021 15:21

Who knows, I guess it means meet someone and plonk your bum on a deckchair with a beverage in hand, as opposed to walk n talk, or provide emotional support.

frasersmummy · 08/03/2021 15:32

Are we having a new thread

Lidlfix · 08/03/2021 15:39

I am looking at an events shelter (gazebo that's not shit) at the moment. So that DDs could have a pal over, or me. Fairy lights , blankets a heater if I can stretch an extension cable. Suppose I am looking more to Easter holidays than now but they all sold out last year. I appreciate this might not appeal to teenage boys.

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 08/03/2021 15:44

@frasersmummy

He said they have been counting the numbers wrongly in Glasgow !! Now they are going to include the tests from the lighthouse labs..

I dont understand what impact this will have or how we can have been counting wrong for a whole year!!

Over or under-estimating? I don't think I can bear it if they've been under estimating.

On a possibly related note, I think some folk are feeling the freedom of the vaccine - the buses looked the busiest they have in ages today.

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 08/03/2021 15:47

We where in the Westend on Saturday and it looked positively normal. I think whatever plans ScotGov have after last nights carnage and the vaccine lockdown is pretty much done regardless. They want to keep a lid on it they should open some stuff and it's at least controlled then.

mibbelucieachwell · 08/03/2021 15:47

JS condemning the disgraceful behaviour, but also trying to cover himself by saying how the SG told the clubs to tell the fans not to congregate. Aye, wee Nicola tweeted and everything. Only when a journo pressed him do he say, the government might take more action before the next match if they're not satisfied with the response of the clubs. Hmm

John, Jason and Nicola, how about putting your big boy or girl pants on and dealing with those bullying thugs who call themselves fans? Even the polis are frightened of them. If breaking up a crowd results in riots so be it. Maybe then people would finally stop making excuses for this disgusting behaviour. Elite football has been pandered to during the pandemic like nothing else.

Remember JL saying how it was understandable that footballers want to celebrate scoring goals as it's emotional blah blah? What a pile of absolute pish. This is more important than being able to hug a loved one in their final years of life? Almost no sanctions were applied to footballers who broke the rules while almost nothing else was allowed. But heh, John Ninny has told them off, he's absolved off all responsibility.

mibbelucieachwell · 08/03/2021 15:49

Sorry I am bringing the tone of this civilised conversation down.

Sorry I am bringing the tone of this civilised conversation down.
Has the tone been civilised? Not sure that's what happens here, the lower the tone the better :o
IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 08/03/2021 15:56

Not at all @mibbelucieachwell you are saying what a lot are thinking I would imagine! I've just seen on social media there are plans for Celtic to gather on the 21st so that will be another shitshow

Lockdownbear · 08/03/2021 16:04

My thoughts exactly.

anon444877 · 08/03/2021 16:14

yes, people that enjoy celebrating things in groups like football fans must be pretty desperate at this point, had to be expected. I hope it doesn't get to the point where they are using water cannons on them, that would be very sad.

Pollok Park chose this weekend of all weekends to finally start blocking vehicle access.

On the plus side at least there should be much less bother at the
forthcoming Old Firm match now the League is already settled.

WouldBeGood · 08/03/2021 16:23

I love a group celebration

Pollok park is nuts though. don't take the kids there any more because there are so many cars - it just doesn't feel safe. It used to be our favourite park for the bikes before lockdown but it's insane now.
Dinnafashyersel · 08/03/2021 19:42

Don't disagree about needing to do something about the Park but just wider illustration of how starved people are of other things to do. Been going there regularly for over 20 years and never seen carparks overrun before and that's even with non-Glaswegians banned. Went quite often when we were all GGCH tier 3 together and even then it wasn't busy.

Council does have broader agenda to ban cars permanently. Suspect that would lead to much lower footfall of Burrell when it reopens and eventual slide into decline like Queen's Park.

Public Transport not great even if you go into Glasgow and back out.
