Am I right in thinking that there is going to be some sort of announcement re dates on Tuesday? NS got a lot of flak following her last one, because, unlike Boris, she didn't put dates on anything,
All my English friends are looking forward to when pubs, restaurants are opening and when they can meet up with friends and family but we've got nothing to look forward to.
Is she going to put us back into tiers? We were in one of the lowest and then jumped up to 4 with everyone else. I can see us being vaccinated and from a fairly low risk area, yet still not being able to go anywhere if you can't travel to higher tier areas.
so bloody fed up this whole thing

Lockdownbear · 28/02/2021 10:23

I don't know how shes going to do things shes getting lost of flak. So will want to do something positive.
Purely my guess be I think she'll change her mind in S1-3. Ridiculous they aren't going to be back in school until mid April. Especially when May has about 4 days off and June is a short month.

Dinnafashyersel · 28/02/2021 10:24

I have all sorts of joint issues which mean I can't walk endlessly and usually use swimming as physio. I also have a primary school child to keep fit and happy. Closing pools and prohibiting sitting on park benches. Massively disableist. Then when they do open anything up they do it in such as restrictive fashion and make it all survival of the fittest first come first served.

Sorry I am apparently more ragey even than usual this morning although for no good reason. Angry

WouldBeGood · 28/02/2021 10:31

@Dinnafashyersel I’m feeling very crabbit this morning too!

@RaraRachael I’m really struggling with nothing to look forward to. No doubt if she does tiers I’ll be in 4.

@Lockdownbear please let you be right about s1-3!!

As a disabled person also, I can't go anywhere other than see my wee family bubble (parents) and I'm so fucking lonely. I miss company but on the other hand I do like WFH. I just want to be able to socialise a bit more. My friends live too far away though.

I also don't want to be testing my DD twice a week. I agree with only testing if they have symptoms but will parents have a choice?

Bytheloch · 28/02/2021 10:55

Not aware of Tuesday being anything significant. I thought it was 3 week reviews? Who knows now though🤷‍♀️
Next week NS is v.busy elsewhereHmm

hilbil21 · 28/02/2021 10:55

If we keep on having numbers like this, being in this strict lockdown till the end of April is an absolute farce.

Ah.. she’s giving evidence on Wednesday, so perhaps a good news announcement Tuesday..?

Exactly Hilbil people will start making their own judgement. They really risk loosing the will of the people and once they have lost it it will be incredibly difficult to get it back.

I can't remember if it was on here I read it but people who commit fraud don't start big, they start with minor breaches and get bigger.
Lockdowns are almost impossible to police so you need the will of the people. People will start breaking the minor rules, seeing more than one person, then work up to bigger breaches.

rookiemere · 28/02/2021 11:04

@WouldBeGood but sadly I think SG definition of good news may be slightly different from ours - as evidenced by surprise that we weren't whooping with joy at maybe, possibly, who can tell, going back to Tier 3 at the end of April and perhaps if we're very good our S1-S3 getting some very safe blended learning from 5th April

Lockdownbear · 28/02/2021 11:05

Yip good news Tuesday divert attention.

Meanwhile I'm trying to holiday book. Lots of people suggesting Cornwall, not sure if we want to drive so far with a 4yo in the car. Give me your best ideas, please ?

WouldBeGood · 28/02/2021 11:09

We made a first time foray to Northumberland last autumn. Just for a night but it looked gorgeous with lots to do. Only a short drive too.

@Lockdownbear we've just booked a lovely apartment in Whitby. DS is a teen and his pal will be going so they can go to Scarborough water park and Flamingo Land and the arcades, but we also went when DS was younger and had a great time then mucking around on the beach and some nice countryside to visit.

Failing that my secret top tip is Shropshire- near Ludlow if possible. Loads of rollicking countryside and not many tourists so high quality reasonably priced accommodation.

WouldBeGood · 28/02/2021 11:11

Ooh, never been to Shropshire either. I’ll put that on my list

Groovee · 28/02/2021 11:13

I'm testing because I want to feel safer. If I had symptoms I would book a proper test. I think Covid would kill Mr G right now.

But I have fibro, prone to respiratory infections and still feel it's a scary place as people no longer care x

Lockdownbear · 28/02/2021 11:15

Groovee are you and MrG not on the vulnerable list?

rookiemere · 28/02/2021 11:15

Shropshire is not a place of high excitement but there are National trust properties with lovely grounds, a steam train with a walk you can plan round it and lots of villages with amazing country pubs.
if you have a big family holiday (remember those) www.ludlowmanorhouse.com/ this place keeps even stroppy teens and young adults happy. We've been three times.

WouldBeGood · 28/02/2021 11:17

I can see that @Groovee. my circumstances are totally different in that I just see DP and DS and none of us are clinically vulnerable.

And thanks @rookiemere I’ll google that and dream

Those of you that are holiday booking, when for??

Lockdownbear · 28/02/2021 11:21

Looking at as soon as schools break up end June beginning of July before the English schools stop.

noname55 · 28/02/2021 11:23

I think Tuesday she's confirming who/if anyone will return to school 15th March? Something like that.

rookiemere · 28/02/2021 11:24

@hilbil21 end of July to be more certain that we're allowed over English border.

rookiemere · 28/02/2021 11:26

Although we also have big family cottage booked in Lake District for first week school holidays- postponed many times already - I can't see English border being "properly " open at that point, as SG will hang on to keeping it "closed "as long as they can, so I wouldn't book anything in England for the first week through choice.

noname55 · 28/02/2021 11:27

@Lockdownbear

We always do a UK holiday at this time but I can't decide whether to book anything or not.
hilbil21 · 28/02/2021 11:27

@rookiemere Thank you. Reason I'm asking is because we are hoping family can come up beginning August. Saying that, I'm sorely tempted to go down and stay in England when it reopens but I can't decide whether the police will be stricter 12th April onwards, or whether they will give up because so many Scots are making a trip over the non existent border Grin
