A change is as good as a rest!

Sounds like a good day out, Raspberry.

WaxOnFeckOff · 27/02/2021 19:29

We had a collect order from Nandos yesterday, it felt like I was on day release :)

Sounds like a great day Raspberry!

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/02/2021 19:30

I was honestly happy to go to b&q! People, actual human beings!

ProvisionallyAnxious · 27/02/2021 19:36

Thanks to both posters who shared details of the "deferrals" process for the vaccine, that's really helpful!

For the PP who asked about the vaccine in pregnancy, as far as I know there's no evidence for it causing harm but also no evidence against. I'm more sanguine about having it "untested" whilst breastfeeding than when pregnant simply because I've read into how the constituent parts of the vaccine are metabolised (if that's the right word) and nothing even potentially harmful can pass into breastmilk.

shouldistop · 27/02/2021 19:48

@ProvisionallyAnxious yeah, I'm breastfeeding and have no worries at all about having it. I don't understand the science but if anything I'd think it would be good if the antibodies passed to baby ds.

Cismyfatarse · 27/02/2021 19:54

Anyone know where Fife is with vaccinations? Tayside seems to be putting the figures out but I haven't seen Fife. Are we at 60-64 yet? DH is 59 so we hope soon.

His role as "The Vaccinator" complete with super hero cape has all gone a bit quiet. Lots of e-mails sent and no replies.

WaxOnFeckOff · 27/02/2021 20:07

Fife is on 36.2 which is a bit above average - which is 34.6

Icannever · 27/02/2021 20:47

I’m in Fife, my dad got his (over 65) last week but just under 65 mum hasn’t had an appointment for hers yet

Cismyfatarse · 27/02/2021 20:52

Thanks. We are also assuming MiL who had dose 1 in January will be called again at some point. But she got done very locally and younger groups seem to be going to bigger hubs.

littlbrowndog · 27/02/2021 20:55

2 Breast feeding women I know have had the vaccination

Scottishskifun · 27/02/2021 21:51

@Dinnafashyersel

One for any remaining Zero Devi fans. Auckland back into lockdown for another week - iirc the last precautionary week was less than a month ago. Auckland has a population similar to Greater Glasgow and looks to be in a similar cycle of Level 4+.
If I honestly thought it was possible here I would be in full support but it's not possible due to the transient nature (even with border controls) of Scotland and goods. I also don't have any faith in the SG introducing the sharp lock downs quick enough they have proved me right in this in the past with Glasgow when it first started rising. NZ locks an area down within a day of positive cases. Vietnam blocks off whole neighbourhoods nobody allowed in or out unless medical with food drop offs.

Sadly I think its political to aim for elimination then blame the rest of the UK (England) when it fails when in reality many of the scientists state its pretty impossible!

OldRailer · 27/02/2021 21:58

Yep. It is practically speaking impossible but they are not for admitting it.

England will provide the useful scapegoat. So it's a win anyway.

Scottishskifun · 27/02/2021 22:25

Sadly I agree I'm also really fed up with the rhetoric that all of England has high cases!

My parents area in the south of England has rates which are lower than the majority of Scotland including the Highlands. Which actually when you realise how populated they are in the areas of England is really impressive! But all we hear is that cases will be transported from England..... Yes there are high pockets in England but there are in Scotland as well!

littlbrowndog · 27/02/2021 22:31

Buts it a virus.

It will do what virus does

We learn to live with it

It will never be gone unless we lock up for ever as it is spread by us and may be still present in animals which is current thought where it crossed into, humans

Crack on now with living

WouldBeGood · 27/02/2021 23:05

@littlbrowndog yes. Perfectly put

GirlLovesWorld · 28/02/2021 12:48

Just saw this on another thread: English schools are making tests available for families.

Wondering why Scotland isn't doing similar; would any of you do it if it were made available?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-56226020

WouldBeGood · 28/02/2021 13:09

I wouldn’t do testing

Scottishskifun · 28/02/2021 13:13

I would test regularly if my child was older and in secondary yes but it's a theoretical for me as my son is 2 and in a nursery which is outside the majority of the day so much lower risk.

randomsabreuse · 28/02/2021 13:32

East Dunbartonshire are definitely getting further down the ages in group 6 as DH got his appointment through for next week - he's early 40s. His appointment is at what I assume is the biggest East Dun centre - Allander. Was half expecting him to take a trip to the Louisa Jordan but it's all panned out really conveniently! Less than a week between arrival of blue envelope and appointment.

Lidlfix · 28/02/2021 13:38

I'll be doing testing as will DD4 . DH is working in a sector where him potentially asymptomatically spreading if I passed it on would be a serious public health issue. DD also working so her employer would be impacted upon if she contracts it. There were cases in the hub provision in my school and in DDs so for us this feels the right thing to do.

If I was continuing to WFH not sure what the point would be as I wear mask , observe distancing as much as possible and sanitise hands when I go shopping.

shouldistop · 28/02/2021 13:40

@randomsabreuse we're in east Dunbartonshire too and my dm and step father are 64 and haven't heard. Dh has an underlying condition although only in his 30s and hasn't heard either.

Lockdownbear · 28/02/2021 14:22

I'd maybe test my 10 year old.
But no I won't engage in a fight with my 4yo. I have enough fights doing teeth and inhalers without adding to the stress.

Lidlfix · 28/02/2021 14:37

Are primary and early years being supplied with tests for pupils? I haven't really paid much attention to aspects that don't impact on me and my DDs. DD4 is S6 so my primary and early years days are long gone.

shouldistop · 28/02/2021 14:43

@Lidlfix we haven't heard anything about 4yo ds being tested at nursery. We had to take him for a test before Christmas and I really don't think I'd be happy about him having to have it regularly with no symptoms. He's anxious enough as it is about corona virus without that.

mondaywine · 28/02/2021 14:45

There’s no testing of children in primary or early years. Staff have the option to test twice weekly with lateral flow tests. Away to do mine yet again just now!
