It's 10,000 people Shock

kurtrussellsbeard · 19/02/2021 20:32

@Scottishskifun of course it is we are locked down. See when the rates are as you describe but we're not locked down? That's when it's under control.

BBCONEANDTWO · 19/02/2021 20:32
@BBCONEANDTWO is that not a council page you shared? Its not until May. There is not a chance in hell that there will a procession for 10,000 people in May.
It's Glasgow council and it's 1K people (1,000). Well I hope it isn't allowed we're starting to get there slowly so this would just take us back IMO.

BBCONEANDTWO · 19/02/2021 20:33

Sorry meant 10K people - sorry peeps - so does anyone think it WILL be allowed - why is it on their website?

kurtrussellsbeard · 19/02/2021 20:33

@fioreun yeah. As if 🤷🏻‍♀️ it's clearly a mistake or a case of complete stupidity. Either way it isn't happening and no council or government is ever going to approve it.

Bytheloch · 19/02/2021 20:33
@Bytheloch yes because countries independent from the UK didn't manage to get any vaccines at all! If we had been independent we would have had nothing Hmm
Other than in the SNP’s wet dreams Scotland isn’t independent and it needed vaccines to cross the land boundary/unicorn border, yet hear those saltire-clad citizens roar for it to close with steel gates so the Kent, Huddersfield or (‘insert another deadly English variant here’) can’t come in. Sigh.

ShowmetheSnowdrops · 19/02/2021 20:34

kurtrussellsbeard not sure what you find so hard to comprehend.

There are many people who have intertwined family
relationships, personal history, property and business arrangements straddling Scotland and England.

I’ve watched the FM briefings less than 5 times over a year to get a better understanding of what’s happening in Scotland because I’m an interested, engaged, open minded citizen.
The fact that I was less than impressed is separate to that.

I didn’t think I was drip feeding but many people who leave Scotland continue to have ties with their former university.
This can be in the form of funding, scholarships, alumni type events.

Time for a glass of wine now.

Scottishskifun · 19/02/2021 20:36

@fioreun the vaccination programme isn't solely done by the NHS there is a dedicated vaccination department as part of the department for business energy and industrial strategy that has dealt with procurement, research etc and also worked with the department of health. All of these have been UK government departments, initiatives and moving people into it.
So as much as it might pain people to admit the procurement of vaccines is as a direct result of the UK government's actions.

kurtrussellsbeard · 19/02/2021 20:37

I'm sorry @Bytheloch is that an attempt at humour? Saltire clad citizens roar? Oh dear.

We are part of the UK so were part of the UK procurement of vaccines. There's not need to be grateful for that surely. They haven't done us a favour. We are, sadly, united.

If we weren't, we would have procured our own. Like other countries do.

Scottishskifun · 19/02/2021 20:39

Yep my parents area has pretty much always remained low often lower than where I live and that's using the up to date data from zoe app as well as govt information.

fioreun · 19/02/2021 20:39

I never said it wasn't Smile

The effort the NHS has made in rolling out the vaccination programme, making it safe and feel safe and communicating with nervous participants has been amazing. So many stories of good experiences. Track and Trace would benefit massively from a more local approach.

kurtrussellsbeard · 19/02/2021 20:40

That's great do they live on a wee island or something? I'm pretty sure you know what I mean.

Bytheloch · 19/02/2021 20:44

If we weren't, we would have procured our own. Like other countries do.

With what currency?

But that’s a question that no independence supporter can ever answer discussion for another time/thread.

kurtrussellsbeard · 19/02/2021 20:44

Ffs 🤦🏻‍♀️

Scottishskifun · 19/02/2021 20:53

@kurtrussellsbeard

No they live in the south but not an area where it has gone crazy but it's still an area with busy towns. I found it crazy they had lower numbers than where I live as a large proportion of my LA is rural. People in Scotland only hear of the hotpots of England via the media actually if you look at distribution on zoe app or other data hot spot maps you see its not the case at all.
kurtrussellsbeard · 19/02/2021 20:57

@Scottishskifun that's amazing. I think you're right and there's a perception of very high numbers right across the UK when there are pockets of real lows. Or maybe there are only pockets of real highs? 🤔

Anyway by my reckoning, and I'm clearly not an expert, it will be deemed under control when we see low numbers across the board when we are not locked down and restrictions have been eased.

jabbathebutt · 19/02/2021 22:29

I'm confused because it seems as though wales might allow wedding venues to open soon? is that not waaaaay too soon?

WannaCapybara · 19/02/2021 23:46

Genuinely can't get past that crap about hearing saltire-clad citizens roaring for the borders to close with steel gates.

The most batshit sentence I've read on MN for a while Grin

OldRailer · 20/02/2021 00:48

Thank God we did have a government willing to stick it's neck out to order and sponsor a whole array of vaccines.

It's not great for my mum's relatives in Ireland.

runningpink · 20/02/2021 06:08

Iv forgotten your name (sorry) but a question for the lady who volunteered to do vaccinations at the weekends so is working 7 days just now.

Iv been told that after the vaccine you must wait inside for 30min before leaving?

Is this 100% the case or do you have a bit of a choice?
I’m only asking as I won’t manage sitting with a mask on for that length of time. Il stand and wait outside if I really have too but indoors isn’t an option for me at all so I’m a bit worried that could be an issue.

I’m not due mine for ages so isn’t relevant at the minute but just wanted to check.

I have had my vaccination and I was asked to wait 15 minutes before leaving. No-one checked though, we were just sitting in a corridor. I expect you can leave whenever you want to. Or go and sit outside the vaccination centre for a while so you can take your mask off. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I had mine yesterday (pfizer) and had to wait for 15 mins afterwards. My Mum had the AZ yesterday at a different place and also had to wait 15 mins afterwards
runningpink · 20/02/2021 07:16

Thanks @SymbollocksInteractionism and @ApolloandDaphne. Even 15 mins I would find hard but if no one actually checks then I should be fine. I’m happy to stand outside or wait in my car. Thanks for the reassurance

Sootess · 20/02/2021 07:29

@runningpink I've had it (nhs) and yes it's 15 minutes you have to wait in case you take a reaction. You just time yourself.
Just stand outside, as long as you're within easy reach of the staff you'll be ok.

BBCONEANDTWO · 20/02/2021 08:07

This is scary that someone actually thinks if we get independence we're gonna get £1.3trillion.

twitter.com/SocialM85897394/status/1362804325597216769

In the end England are just gonna say - bye bye Scotland. I would be sad to see that day.
