* I think you're safe, this seems to be a thread which hates all parties equally grin*

Yes 😂

I like to think if myself as less of a hater and more of a cynic.

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/02/2021 12:47

I actually just had to look up who my current lot are

I've currently got Iain Gray (labour) and I'm south of Scotland list so the seat that Joan Mcalpine is currently being pushed out of.

noname55 · 18/02/2021 12:49

I've been considering my vote today too. I've only ever voted Labour. Mainly because they're the main opposition to SNP in this area.

OldRailer · 18/02/2021 12:49

Is Joan under pressure? I quite liked her.

Groovee · 18/02/2021 12:54

@TheCanyon

Does anyone know/heard from their school what is actually happening with p1-3 next week? Just received the p2 learning grid...
Ours is fully back to normal. Although I don't know about breakfast club.

You been hiding under a rock? :o

excuse the Wings over Scotland link (i'm all over the shop today!) but it sums up the whole thing quite nicely:

WouldBeGood · 18/02/2021 12:56

@OldRailer Nicola and the woke faction are gunning for her. Hence the self id’ing as disabled stuff amongst other things.

She's likely to be pushed down the list and therefore may lose her seat. This is because of the not remotely dodgy policy the SNP came up with where some regional lists must be topped by someone BAME and others by someone with a disability. South Scotland seat has at least 3 candidates for the list who have declared disabilities so one of them will top the list. If she gets a lot of list votes (from the snp internal vote i mean) Joan may still be ok simply because South Scotland has previously returned a few SNP list msps - in think because they're less dominant in constituency seats
WouldBeGood · 18/02/2021 13:06

It should also be said they did this self declaration stuff in a meeting of the NEC where they ignored legal advice from a QC

OP posts:
shouldistop · 18/02/2021 13:09

@TheCanyon ds1 is at nursery rather than school but nursery have updated us dating back as normal on Monday.

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/02/2021 13:11

Ignoring expensive legal advice? Surely not

MaxNormal · 18/02/2021 13:15

I like Joan McAlpine Sad

Is that the self-identified disabilities?

WouldBeGood · 18/02/2021 13:17

Yes @MaxNormal

Chasingamy · 18/02/2021 13:18

Found the new thread Smile I am totally scunnered with who to vote for. Being honest I really can’t stand 4 years more of the same so might have to vote tactically Sad

MaxNormal · 18/02/2021 13:19

WouldBeGood that absolutely stinks.

I'm also thinking it's going to be a tactical vote, for all I don't want to reward Labour particularly for their stance on women. But I can't die on every hill right now.

WouldBeGood · 18/02/2021 13:21

I was just thinking that @MaxNormal

I think I must direct my vote to immediate need, and fight the erasing of women stuff later

OP posts:
Aurea · 18/02/2021 13:28

Tactical voting advice against SNP. Please share widely.

WaxOnFeckOff · 18/02/2021 13:29

I don't particularly like Joan but I do think what has been done is despicable so happy to support in dealing with that. I wouldn't vote for her or any SNP etc. Not sure how a woman can jsutify it to be honest, but there we are. Wont vote green either so I'll wait for the polls/look at the info and decide if it'll be Labour or Tory or another on polling day.

GoldenOmber · 18/02/2021 13:30

I have no idea who to vote for. Used to fall back in Greens when I was this unimpressed with the rest of them, but the Greens have entirely lost me by now.

Chasingamy · 18/02/2021 13:32

Thanks @Aurea! Although do feel depressed it’s come to this but can see no other option. If SNP get a majority after everything I really want to move I’ve had enough.

MaxNormal · 18/02/2021 13:32

Aurea thank you. I was right about it having to be Labour then. Tbf they were the only MSP to give us a quick and personal-feeling response when we recently contacted them about the quarantine thing.

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/02/2021 13:42

I think for me it's probably labour for constituency, then list vote I will see which of Labour or Conservative are (according to polls) likely to have fewest constituency seats in my region and give them the list vote.

anon444877 · 18/02/2021 13:43

My heart is mostly with the greens but they've gone off on weird identity politics and i can't swallow their hounding people over it - not very green.

Starmer has in my view done a good job of repairing some of the damage done to Labour by anti semitism, and I hope he'll protect other vulnerable groups if it comes to it.

Tbh though, I prefer boris's covid approach

OldRailer · 18/02/2021 13:45

Our area is proper nationalist these days.

🧙Chasingamy :I think in a crisis the incumbent will usually do well. After the crisis is over would be the time for any backwash to have an effect.
