New thread, imaginatively titled.

@WaxOnFeckOff

Not that I want to distract, but from another thread, Parliament have voted for them to have to release the Education review paper before the election. Would have bets on what is going to happen but I think odds on favourite is to drag heels and delay and be forced to court and fight it and then tax payer shell out for costs. then it's released (after the election) and they say we'll do better next time and it'll all go away... That's if they get in of course...
They'll drag it out until purdah. Bastards

I saw this. I’m pleased, as in a straightforward democracy this would have been released as a matter of course.

Education is so critical to closing the attainment gap (though hopefully not downward)

I mean it's obviously bad and even months of time to concoct spin isn't working? As someone on another thread said. We should just start describing it as the disastrous OECD report anyway.

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/02/2021 20:10

Maybe we need to circulate some rumours about what's in it that are SO BAD that they release it because the truth is better?

anon444877 · 17/02/2021 20:12

Scared to poke the beast though, doubtless the solution to it will be to scrap all measurement and replace exams with a list of 'I can' statements.

ssd · 17/02/2021 20:13

I'm having a thick life day

Can you explain this more wax?

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/02/2021 20:20

Which bit ssd?

WaxOnFeckOff · 17/02/2021 20:21

I forget the timeline ssd, but an independent report on education was undertaken and the results of that review have been delayed and delayed and the final delay was put to after the election. And you are not thick, it's just that none of this stuff seems to make the MSM so if you didn't happen to hear about it, you'd never know it was (or wasn't ) happening.

NS said to judge her on Education - well we are trying...

WaxOnFeckOff · 17/02/2021 20:21

Someone else might manage to be a bit more specific! :o

ssd · 17/02/2021 20:29

I didnt realise that. I've seen a lit if threads asking why education in Scotland is so bad and I dont really see it like that as I feel my kids got a good education, but I'm questioning it now, maybe I should have asked more.

WaxOnFeckOff · 17/02/2021 20:33

Just to give you a laugh, did you see the story about the political editor of the Liverpool Echo who got called for his covid jag but he's only 36 and no underlying health issues other than being a little bit overweight. He queried it and was told that he's been given the appointment due to his obesity. On further querying it was then discovered that they had him down as being 6.2cm and not 6 foot 2. Giving him a bmi of 28000!!

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/02/2021 20:35

Judge me on education - just don't look at any evidence at all

littlbrowndog · 17/02/2021 20:37

Swinney was on radio Scotland this morning

Was COVID that’s delayed the report 😉🤦‍♀️

Yes. My BMI is similar right now!
littlbrowndog · 17/02/2021 20:38

If only I could be 6foot 2. I might not be a fatty then

What, does it need a bloody vaccine first? They know covid isn't a computer virus right?
WaxOnFeckOff · 17/02/2021 20:43

So what delayed it before covid as I'm sure this has been going on longer than that? Unless I'm mistaken?

WaxOnFeckOff · 17/02/2021 20:45

I'm the only one in my household who isn't 6'2" or over.

Oh, and the cat, the cat isn't 6'2"

Grin I feel there should be some joke about the perceived size of the editor matching the quality of the newspaper but that would be mean. But seriously... If record keeping like that is accepted in the NHS, we're all stuffed, aren't we?!

According to bbc it was due this feb - I think they just started using covid as a pre emptive excuse a while ago
WaxOnFeckOff · 17/02/2021 20:51

This from the BBC on the live reporting page from todays briefing:

Scottish Lib Dem leader Willie Rennie asks how the people of Scotland can judge the first minister on her education record if she won't publish an OECD review into the Scottish curriculum until after the election.

The first minister replies the timetable of the review has been set by the OECD.

Mr Rennie insists the Scottish government has the report already so the Scottish government should publish it now and he questions the independence of the report.

Ms Sturgeon says that the idea the OECD would allow to happen what Mr Rennie suggests is "completely outrageous".

The preliminary report is merely for fact checking, she says.

Fact Checking! :o

littlbrowndog · 17/02/2021 20:54

He was on just after 8 am. But I only had a half listen as the ferals were doing horrid stuff.

And he drones on like he needs a battery charge but if I remember the general tone was it was Covid s fault

It’s probably on catch up if you can bear the droning

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/02/2021 20:55

Fact checking indeed. If you say so Nicola, if you say so

TonightMatthew · 17/02/2021 20:56

I loved that story about the 6cm tall guy Grin

I rather like the Pope's suggestions for Lent and may try to channel them in my day to day life. I felt peaceful just reading them. That said I shall be strict about discarding them the moment I open the railing thread.

In that vein I am a bit fed up with my colleague who is very very gloomy and grumpy about returning to work from maternity leave next week. I get it. I do. BUT she hasn't had to try to work with kids at home for the entire time, and the nursery is reopening literally the week she returns to work. Aaargh! I feel like such a total bitch and I'd never say anything to her obviously but I don't think she understands how lucky her timing is (from my perspective at least). There we go. Horrible horrible person.

Back to channeling the pope Blush Halo

WouldBeGood · 17/02/2021 20:56

The reports we do have say the attainment gap gas closed as the top students have fallen in grades
