I’m actually feeling ill cos of it.. shaky and cold, and quite weird!

It's what grief feels like.

Elvesaremagic · 23/02/2021 16:42

No roadmap to give businesses any certainty, all of this talk of ‘eradication’ just goes to show how little she understands about the economy - and then there is the fantasy that an independent Scotland could prosper. I am so glad I am not trying to run my own business through this. It would’ve heartbreaking.

Dinnafashyersel · 23/02/2021 16:50

Even the most optimistic are only claiming vaccination blocks about 50% of transmission. Transmission is actually rising in Israel where over 70% of the over 16s have already been fully vaccinated. Zero Covid is a total nonsense in this context, as is maximum suppression.

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 23/02/2021 16:53

@Elvesaremagic as a business owner I can confirm it is utterly heartbreaking. I will not recover from this. I run it as a side so financially ok but it has been my passion since I was a child.

OldRailer · 23/02/2021 17:02

Dinnafash if you can stop people mixing though..

I agree it's a mad notion.

Business owner here too and we're just so fucking fed up. We're not even on the fucking roadmap.

So many in our sector have folded already, many more are on the way out. In theory we might be able to reopen if we go to tiers, but then we were never meant to close even in tier 4 and look how that went.

We had to make redundancies last month. No choice, just no way we could keep going with everyone. Utterly shit

shouldistop · 23/02/2021 17:20

I'm sitting in the car with the kids, I just can't face going into the house.

anon444877 · 23/02/2021 17:21

My neighbour runs two small independent
shops - one he closed just before covid hit as it didn't take off and rents crazy, I saw him vacating his other one today, he's been there years and was a well established business. So sad for him.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 23/02/2021 17:26

Submit your questions on the changes (or lack of them) here

Chrysanthemum5 · 23/02/2021 17:28

This is all because of the ridiculous zero Covid idea - which is unachievable. I'm holding a tiny hope that she may announce schools going back in March tomorrow to take attention away from Alex salmond 😂

@OldRailer thanks for the Thanks

anon444877 · 23/02/2021 17:28

Who needs childcare eh statistically clock reset to 1970s so women are all available at home. So sorry you had to make redundancies - good call though, there's no upside here for ASC.

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 23/02/2021 17:33

Oh the tiers thread is raising my fucking blood pressure. For me it's not so much about what she's doing when (that is pure pish) but the condescending way it's told to us. No hope nothing just continue to fuck up your life for the greater good.

MaxNormal · 23/02/2021 17:37

You genuinely sound like you're in shock.

We're doing better than some; a fair number have closed already including a local one, I know of another who have lost 2/3 of their clients and had to let 1/2 the staff go. It's not just the lockdown but the reduction in clients as so many people have lost their jobs or decided to not have ASC while they are WFH. So even when clubs are open their business is down. There's still a business there, but it will be a bit smaller for a while until people find work again.

Not a nice thing to have to do though.

shouldistop · 23/02/2021 17:51

Fed the baby in the car then dh took him in, ds1 playing in the boot. I think dh thinks I've lost the plot - maybe I have. We usually have dinner at 5, ds hasn't even said he's hungry, probably because he's had sod all exercise today as it's been bloody chucking it down as there's no where to fucking go Sad

anon444877 · 23/02/2021 17:53

My employers are now so inured to the noise of kids in the background...it's is that doesn't like it!

Pootle40 · 23/02/2021 18:08

Is all self catering closed until forever? Genuinely want to go somewhere different for Easter ........

shouldistop · 23/02/2021 18:10

@Pootle40 stay at home message won't be lifted until Easter Monday ...
god knows when self catering will be open.

jabbathebutt · 23/02/2021 18:13

Been in work all day.

When are S1-3 back? After Easter?

Doesn't look like we'll be going on any foreign holidays (not that I expected to).

BJ has been too quick, NS has not been quick enough. We needed something a bit more in the middle.

She just wants to be different.

Pootle40 · 23/02/2021 18:13

Thanks @shouldistop

I'm not bothered about the stay at home message suppose just wondering if some Airbnb bookings (for example) will be allowed. I don't think Airbnb police it if you know what I mean.

Just realising that England got indications for theatre, cinema, events, hotels and we got ....you're in lockdown for 2 more months.

Yeah whatever. Ignoring that now.

shouldistop · 23/02/2021 18:14

I wouldn't think you'd be able to book anything x

anon444877 · 23/02/2021 18:16

I tried to book a self catering place in Scotland and said I'd take any week this year and they aren't booking anything. They said they'd get back in touch.

Oh god yes...I initially liked the tiers threads thinking it would be a similar vibe, albeit with a Scottish twist, to the AD threads original ethos of: respecting others opinions, we're allowed to be sad/pissed off/angry and we follow rules not ROOLZ... but it's more and more political arguments with ALL sides totally lacking in respect for each and a really high number of posts from what seem to be SNP cheerleaders...

Schools back 5th April. Oh wait🤔 that's Easter holidays! So yeah you're right, after Easter!

Hope new job is going wellSmile

ProvisionallyAnxious · 23/02/2021 18:30

Apologies if this has been said already, but I'm so so disheartened and disillusioned by this NS quote from today:

"I certainly hope as we go further into the easing of lockdown, one of the things we can do is ease the travel restrictions within Scotland so that loved-ones who live in different parts of the country can get together again.

International travel restrictions I think will have to be in place for a bit longer..."

No mention of people with loved ones in other parts of the UK. The implication in paragraph 1 is very much about Scottish travel... Is England international now?

I campaigned for indy but fuck this.
