I saw on another thread about universities going back where someone pointed out that UK students might have had their first jab by September but what about all the international students coming in?

Ah, that would be me, sorry. But... as someone else said, their university starts the year with meningitis jab sessions for those who haven't already had them, so the Covid-19 one could be made available that way.

The way the French are carrying on about the AsyraZeneca one making them feel poorly and it doesn't work anyway,it would be nice if Birmingham will have got as far as 'all adults' by the time DD's French housemate goes back home, although the whole household had the actual infection in October.

(My favourite line in the Downfall spoof was one of the secretaries saying something along the lines of, 'Never mind, you'll still be able to wear a panty liner in your mask'Grin).

OldRailer · 21/02/2021 19:22

Its hardly normal circumstances though. So I'm not sure I'm convincing myself here.Grin

OldRailer · 21/02/2021 19:23

Oh yes Downfall did give me a laugh !

kurtrussellsbeard · 21/02/2021 19:29

I loved an apple slice with peanut butter on top. Problem was I ate the whole apple and half a jar of peanut butter!

I think I need to lose at least four stone but I'm too frightened to weigh myself.

ShowmetheSnowdrops · 21/02/2021 19:31

littlebrowndog you don’t know what you’re missing!
The seagulls also enjoy CalMac chips though.

To my shame, I remember my then 2 year old DS marching down the gangplank and bellowing ‘ bloody seagulls’ to the hundreds of foot passengers waiting to board.
Apologies for derailing. Off to drink wine.

anon444877 · 21/02/2021 19:33

kurt huge peanut butter fan - same I'd have to lose weight to even brave my scales!

WouldBeGood · 21/02/2021 19:41

Another one scared of scales.

@jabbathebutt start a slimming thread, that’s a good idea. I need accountability!

I’m also so pleased about the speeding up of the vaccine programme. DP gets his on Friday. It’s funny, I wasn’t really worried, but now it’s close I’m really excited 😃

@WouldBeGood

Toxic inspiration is a great phrase 😂

I need to hide the other thread, sadly.

@NotAnActualSheep my main aim with the attempt at 16:8 is to avoid drinking wine of an evening.. I find it too easy to reach for when I’m bored at home and DS is shut in his lair. And just to try to cut down on eating time. So fewer calories. We shall see!

Yes, me too. I've got into a wine/ gin/ cider habit of an evening, and if not, hot chocolate. It's not loads, but it's calories that all add up. Plus DH sometimes brings in crisps or something which doesn't help. I don't need them, obviously, but I eat them anyway... Not even because I'm bored, just I like eating crisps Blush. So having that time taken out of when I "can" eat/ drink is helpful.

I was moaning to DH about putting on weight, and he said, yes, it's almost as if doing a day's work and running round taking DS to things uses up more calories than sitting on the sofa reading mumsnet. I felt a bit judged at that... Grin I'm up for the diet thread...

anon444877 · 21/02/2021 20:13

I sympathise not mine gives me helpful tips like eating less cake. Erm yes thanks darling.

NotAnActualSheep · 21/02/2021 20:14

Being a filthy sassenach I think the calmac ferry is an ideal holiday! I love islands. Pre DS we went to iona and colonsay, and another time to Orkney (best bit was the plane trip where they had a complimentary drinks trolley of All The Spirits at 10.30am, which, to be honest, helped the reeeeeaaaallly windy landing). We were thinking this year we could take DS to Arran or maybe Harris/ Lewis - but now we've been told that's the only thing we may be likely to do if we're lucky I don't want to any more stamps foot and sulks

jabbathebutt · 21/02/2021 20:21

wonder how many people will be booking holidays tomorrow evening if boris gives the go ahead?

I want to go to Cornwall but DH says everyone is going to want to go there and they wont welcome us!

Cornwall is meant to be the sunniest/warmest place in the UK

(except for Dundee but who wants to go to Dundee - joke)

titsbumfannythelot · 21/02/2021 20:24

Cornwall is ridiculously expensive. I'm sure I could go to Australia and back for less.

I'm much more open to taking the kids long haul after this. Want to see as much as possible in case we have another pandemic in our life time.

WouldBeGood · 21/02/2021 20:25

I’ll be so excited if I can get on holiday! And nights in hotels 😍

That’s a good point. DS wants to go to Japan. Better go ASAP.

I've got 2 holidays booked - hedging my bets. An abroad one and a uk one. Will get money back when abroad one is cancelled which it obviously will be and will get most of the money back from the uk one.

StatisticallyChallenged · 21/02/2021 20:39

I've just made malteser tray bake and jammt dodger traybake. Oops

Callisto1 · 21/02/2021 20:39

We booked a UK holiday to replace Christmas. I really hope it can go ahead. Kids granddad really wants to see them and is struggling alone. We're too far away to do a welfare visit or whatever b.s. we're allowed and the zoom just doesn't do it.

On that cheery note I need to call my mum who I probably won't see till 2022. At least eldest is back in school tomorrow!

And I'll have a look at the slimming thread when I can face up to my fatness Blush

Groovee · 21/02/2021 20:47

Only took 10 hours. Dh is negative for Covid. He's going to phone the dr in the morning. He has a temp and is exhausted. This is how he was prior to turning yellow so yes I am over reacting to it all.

Back with all my kiddies tomorrow 🎉🎉 first LF test at 6am. Off to bed as I'm back to normal hours tomorrow x

jabbathebutt · 21/02/2021 20:48

I've looked at a few self catering cottages in cornwall and the price doesn't seem too bad Confused

DD wants to go to Japan too, and so do I, but not if the journey is 20 hours or what on a plane. Dsis used to live in Japan and DPs said the journey to visit was complete hell.
