I was stunned when I arrived in Edinburgh for uni with this obsession with deep frying everything.

My - now very posh - friend used to like nothing better than a deep fried pizza supper after a good night out. Must remind her of that next time I'm talking to her Grin.

With today's a nnouncrment Scotlandbis now lauded for being more liberal for allowing two people.

The whole set up in care homes throughout the UK has been a complete nightmare from Lands End to John o Groats.

Honestly do the ideologues not see how ridiculous their pettiness is?

Clearly not.

Ah, but there isn't a limit on the number of times the designated visitor in England can visit as far as I can make out, whereas in Scotland the 2 people can only visit once a week each. It's all six of one and half a dozen of the other really. Like in Scotland under 12s have always been allowed to play together without socially distancing outside, but group sizes of older folk were always more limited, whereas in England group sizes were allowed to be larger, but there had to be SD between everyone. Different kinds of shit, innit.
OldRailer · 20/02/2021 11:43

But am I not allowed to rail even here ?Wink

WouldBeGood · 20/02/2021 11:46

Railing is positively encouraged here.

As is good news.

Only thing not encouraged is telling others how to feel, or anything off Parent Club

I keep forgetting and complaining elsewhere and getting that awful judgey response. It got to being very unpleasant.

WaxOnFeckOff · 20/02/2021 11:54

such a shame @shouldistop. Disrupted sleep was one of the reasons that we have 2 13 months apart, the idea being we might as well get that all out the way in one go. However, DS1 was a great sleeper from the get go and that continued, I think we've only ever had a few disturbed nights from him and that was down to being ill. By the time we realised this, DS2 was already on the way....he turned out to be a great sleeper too. A few nights when he was really small where he breastfed all night and poo'd after every feed and again a few nights where he was ill.

I think they sensed that I don't function well on little sleep. Our friends little girl, born in-between our 2 didn't sleep through the night until she was in school. However their daytimes were much calmer than ours for which we were truly jealous :o

You can't win them all. I hope you get a better night tonight.

God yes. More rail than the West Coast Mainline. Scotland is Shit. England is Shit, Wales is Shit. No one's even thinking about allowing hugging family members yet, or sitting in a friend's house with half a dozen others drinking tea. I mean, no one's living in any utopia and no one's handled it perfectly - even New Zealand Hmm. Maybe we could have done "better" (whatever that means) or maybe we couldn't - but where we are is still Shit and we can rail with impunity at ourselves, at governments, at the virus, at the weather... whatever. Blearrrrggghhhh.

OldRailer · 20/02/2021 12:00

Is it that you need to learn the art of listening and nodding?

Maybe I need a mindfulness calender, or to use some helpful sentence starters from parent club to express myself more positively.

WouldBeGood · 20/02/2021 12:08

No fucking mindfulness here 😂

NotAnActualSheep · 20/02/2021 12:08

Or a spellchecker...

jabbathebutt · 20/02/2021 12:09

I do actually have a mindfulness calendar that someone bought me but its a load of shite tbh

"if you see someone without a smile, give them yours"

aye, that'll kill the pandemic stone dead

titsbumfannythelot · 20/02/2021 12:10

Mindfulness is just a wanky word for perspective as far as I'm concerned.

This is why we need a like button Grin

OldRailer · 20/02/2021 12:11

Oh wrong "You" there. I meant a general do people need to learn. So sorry the way that read NotAn actual sheep.Blush

Do we need to teach our kids to just listen with acceptance especially in certain emotionally subject areas. Was kind of where that sentence meant to land.🤦

OldRailer · 20/02/2021 12:12

I am much better in person. Promise.

WaxOnFeckOff · 20/02/2021 12:22

I'd suggest, in the main, we need to do the exact opposite. Our children need to learn to not take anything at face value, check your own facts, wonder what people's motivation is. Don't be gaslighted by those in power anymore than you should accept that in your personal relationships.

Bit of a rant there and not directed at anyone's comments :o

Life might be temporarily easier just to go with the flow, but what kind of life is that?

True if people are selling you something : especially in political arena!

OldRailer · 20/02/2021 12:24

I just made the mistake of putting a personal issue out there to political nitpickers.

OldRailer · 20/02/2021 12:27

Are you not meant to match the person's emotional state at first ? Frown back, agree the world's crap and everyone's happy, surely?

WouldBeGood · 20/02/2021 12:28

@jabbathebutt 🤢 to that calendar
