Used to be quite partial to a pizza crunch en route to the (drunkmobile) late service bus. Like munchie boxes I assume they have a very specific target market. I used to swear the soaked up the bevies and reduced hangovers. The memory has me reaching for the Rennies. Oh to be 19 , well not this year, but to have that constitution.

DeepfriedPizza · 19/02/2021 21:11

I used to get a pizza crunch after swimming when I was wee.

I love everything deep fried.

Lidlfix · 19/02/2021 21:22

So wholesome compared to me. Please don't judge my younger self Grin

shouldistop · 19/02/2021 21:29

I used to love a half pizza crunch supper and a can of irn bru at 3.30 in the morning to soak up the booze in the taxi queue at central station. Those were the days.

Sootess · 19/02/2021 21:31

@WouldBeGood

On a different note, and inspired by *@DeepfriedPizza*, I only found out at Christmas what a pizza crunch is. Does everybody else know?

I've never heard of a pizza crunch!

WouldBeGood · 19/02/2021 22:06

Well, I think I must try this!

Jellycatspyjamas · 19/02/2021 22:21

@shouldistop me too, or a battered sausage supper - memories of that taxi queue...

WaxOnFeckOff · 19/02/2021 22:29

You are all heathens!

Acceptable purchases from the Chippy:
Fish Supper
Special Fish supper
Scampi Supper
Chips
Buttered roll
Pickled onions
curry sauce

That's it, anything else shouldn't be on the menu!

noname55 · 19/02/2021 22:32

Oohh I haven't had a pizza crunch in years!

littlbrowndog · 19/02/2021 22:38

Sorry not sorry wax

Sausage supper

Hamburger supper

Haggis supper

White pudding supper

All battered with salt and sauce

Jellycatspyjamas · 19/02/2021 22:49

Oh God a battered hamburger supper - I’ve not had one for 20 years, the very thought gives me heartburn

jabbathebutt · 19/02/2021 22:51

Why is it, when you go to dirty England, they always serve cod suppers and no haddock? why is that? Its no a fish supper if its no haddock

littlbrowndog · 19/02/2021 22:56

And they don’t have sauce.

It’s like going to Glasgow.

A travesty of chippies

WouldBeGood · 19/02/2021 22:59

Plus they leave the skin on the fish in England

OP posts:
WaxOnFeckOff · 19/02/2021 22:59

White pudding IS acceptable but only in Edinburgh where it is the proper crumbly one, not that claggy shite you get everywhere else. :o

@jabbathebutt, we specifically ask for cod! Blush. Scottish for generations but I've spent half the evening looking at houses over the unicorn border... and I eat cod suppers I'm going to have to turn in my tartan bunnet and saltire pants at this rate.

WouldBeGood · 19/02/2021 23:00

I've had a few suppers in England - oops sorry fish and chips, ask for a supper and they don't know what you mean, but I've never had the skin left on. Nice wee sit in in Penrith if anyone gets peckish after storming the border.
Sootess · 19/02/2021 23:14

There's a whole chip shop lingo.
I remember years ago going to get sausage and chips for DH and I. I asked for "2 sausage and chips".
Got one supper with 2sausages in it!
Should have asked for " sausage and chips twice!!"

WaxOnFeckOff · 19/02/2021 23:18

In Scotland is surely two sausage suppers?

Or to be safe, "sausage supper please and errrmmm , another sausage supper, thanks" :o

Sootess · 19/02/2021 23:21

Ah yes we were living in England at the time!

WaxOnFeckOff · 19/02/2021 23:22

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 20/02/2021 01:17

You are all heathens!

Our local chippy does excellent non deep fried pizzas and I had a prawn taco from there the other night! It was delicious. Pickled eggs are also crucial. I ate so many when pregnant with dc1 they gave dh the jar.

Newly six year old ds was in tears at the thought of going back to school in case he catches the virus and kills me (every cold I get goes to my chest and I was really ill last March with some sort of chest infection/cough) plus my dad died of lung cancer and he doesn't quite understand the difference. Despite our best efforts he's become so scared of everything over lockdown and I've no idea how to fix it. Neither dh or I (for different reasons) are afraid of dying/have any health anxiety and we've tried to minimise his exposure to all media coverage etc but something has still snuck through.

shouldistop · 20/02/2021 07:47

This is how my full nights sleep in the spare room went;

12.30am "Mummy! Mummy! I need a drink of water." So gave him a drink then he wants me to lie in his bed while so I did for a while.
2.30am The door opens "mummy, can I sleep in your bed?" Ok, get in.
3.15am "Mummy I'm thirsty again" ok have a drink then go into your own bed. "Mummy I'll need to do a pee and wash my hands before going back to bed".
4.15am I hear dh go into kitchen to get the bottle of milk out the fridge, except baby ds is fussy and won't drink it at anything other than body temperature so then I hear him crying while dh warms it up. Realise it's so much easier for me to just feed him in the middle of the night.

Urghhh. It's so unusual for ds1 to get up in the night or ask to come into bed with me. Just had to be the night I was meant to be sleeping.

TonightMatthew · 20/02/2021 08:02

Ugh shouldistop that's rough. The first few years of sleepless nights are killer. I am headed that way for the 3rd time and dreading that part of being a new mother, it is so hard. Even a supportive partner can only help so much.
