@jabbathebutt

a vaccine will make zero difference to me if face masks and social distancing still the norm.

On more positive news, I got a bit of a cash windfall today. a few thousand. Can't say how I came by it (not the lottery) but it well cheered me up!

Ooh🎉
Well we know you didn't rob a bank as you'd hard pushed to find one open long enough to rob it!!

jabbathebutt · 19/02/2021 16:17

cannae fucking go anywhere tae spend it anyhoo

WaxOnFeckOff · 19/02/2021 16:28

re books, definitely check out Facebook sites both selling and free as I've given away boxes and boxes of books via these and most folk picking up also had others they shared and passed books onto. I was just glad to get them out of the house as no charity shops open and recycling boxes for books were full. Also left boxes of kids books at the end of the drive and "advertised" via our estate WhatsApp group for kids to come help themselves.

goodname · 19/02/2021 16:59

We’ve got a great woman on Facebook in our area that collects up anything you’d normally donate to charity and sells it on Facebook page for 50p upwards (you bid). You pay via PayPal then she drops it off on your doorstep on a Sunday. I’ve been getting books for my mum as she hates kindle and gets really anxious when she runs out of books 😀

ssd · 19/02/2021 17:02

Your mum sounds like me @goodname

ssd · 19/02/2021 17:03

I dont do Facebook Wax, I came off it years ago and refuse to go back on, it did my head in.

goodname · 19/02/2021 17:04

@ssd I used to be the same but I think I have mild depression/anxiety these days and can’t seem to even start concentrating on a book which used to be one of my favourite things ☹️

goodname · 19/02/2021 17:05

You can join Facebook without friends ssd, you just select that no one can find you

ssd · 19/02/2021 17:05

That's a shame

ssd · 19/02/2021 17:08

When I try to get onto fb it recognises my email and asks for a passport photo as proof it's me?!?

Knowing my luck my fb details have been hacked by a mad drug cartel in Bolivia and they're all having a laugh at my boring life.

shouldistop · 19/02/2021 17:13

@jabbathebutt congrats! That's lovely. Treat yourself to something nice Smile

goodname · 19/02/2021 17:20

@ssd that’s crazy, could you get another email just for Facebook, that way you won’t get friends finding you also

anon444877 · 19/02/2021 17:21

My Facebook account got cloned by a scammer who messaged my contacts - no idea how it happened. I don't think they're a great company and if I didn't have so many accumulated peripheral friends on it I'd bin it off.

They've got monopoly power and are constantly selling our data.

TonightMatthew · 19/02/2021 17:24

Exciting news everyone - I am having a Dominos delivered! Haven't had one in ages and just took a notion for one today, DH was on board. We have food in the fridge but have decided to grab life by the balls and just have a takeaway anyway.

I'm actually liking the stormy weather, I've put the fire on and I have pizza on the way delivered by some poor soul in the rain. I'm pretty happy right now.

shouldistop · 19/02/2021 17:32

@TonightMatthew oh I hope you've ordered yourself some of the cookies!

DeepfriedPizza · 19/02/2021 17:40

Congrats Jaba!

I went to Asda today (exciting) and they have a branch of panku in it which is Japanese food to reheat at home. I got Katsura curry, gyoza and chicken skewers.

But when I was in the car I heard an advert which said something like “can you look a loved one in the eye and tell them you were out for exercise and not meeting a friend” absolute bollocking guilt trip for daring to leave the house!

rookiemere · 19/02/2021 17:49

@DeepfriedPizza but you're allowed to meet a friend outside for a walk, aren't you Confused?

Glad I switch off every time I hear anything coronavirus related. The big letters in the tv ad give me the rage for some reason.

Callisto1 · 19/02/2021 18:13

Congrats Jabba! I'm sure sooner or later there'll be fun opportunities to spend money again!

We had pizza yesterday. I've been very lax with my home cooking and the kids have watched far too much tv the last few days. But things should be a bit more normal again next week.

Callisto1 · 19/02/2021 18:15

And you're definitely allowed to meet one adult outside. I don't really watch TV with adverts or listen to radio so this whole "look them in the eye" campaign has passed me by.

WouldBeGood · 19/02/2021 19:24

Ooh, @jabbathebutt that’s exciting!

WouldBeGood · 19/02/2021 19:25

@DeepfriedPizza what fancy Asda is this?! I need to find one. DS obsessed by all things Japanese

OP posts:
DeepfriedPizza · 19/02/2021 20:21

The Asda is in Linwood but I think there are other panku shops.

I think the advert was more about meeting friends (plural) I got annoyed by it and forgot the actual wording

WouldBeGood · 19/02/2021 20:28

I ignore all the stupid ads.

I shall google, thanks!!

On a different note, and inspired by @DeepfriedPizza, I only found out at Christmas what a pizza crunch is. Does everybody else know?

yep, found out from a friend, battered and deep fried pizza as opposed to the normal just deep fried pizza! bleugh on both counts!

That's what all the kids get from the chippy on their school lunch break - well they did back in the days when they went to school - they must have been sweating grease by the last lesson of the day :o

My DCs school was unfortunately/fortunately not near shops. In their 40 mins they just about had time to run down to Tesco and then back up the hill. That's as exciting as it gets. They took a packed lunch.
