I don’t like Leitch either cos of his evangelical Christian charity in India. It was being investigated by their authorities for linking charity to signing up, though I don’t know what the outcome was.

Agreed. I'm not going to tell anyone what to believe (well actually I do regularly but really about religion) but basically offering charity in exchange for souls is the pits.

I've not heard the outcome either but NS has probably told the press to leave her pet alone.

I take it as a mater of pride that I have never seem or heard Devi speak and the only things I might have read are quotes on here saying what a waste of space she is.

I just thought it was odd that she is obviously in the public eye but immediately alienated half of Scotland. Wouldn’t expect Chris Whitty etc to be calling pro EU voters “anti British” while talking about the Covid response and for them still to respect and take heed of his advice

Well exactly. The quality of the "advisers" is very disappointing in many cases.

Can I come and have a brief rail over the citizens panel thing. I know one of the members is on the tiers thread, and I don't want to rail at her as she's explaining things really well. But aaaaarrrgh! How can a 19 person panel be taken as being "the voice of the informed public in Scotland"??! When the information on "strategies to control covid" has been provided to them by a semi-celebrity advisor with her own, well publicised opinions on one of them, without any counteracting voices provided (yes, there were other experts, but DS was the only one speaking to strategies, even though other experts would prefer suppression/ living with it or similar rather than elimination) . And, surprise, surprise, her pet theory becomes the favoured one of the panel, where people could vote for/against as many strategies as they wanted, even if they were impossible. And this is being put forward to potentially be used to justify policy which the same advisor has informed the direction of already.

I'm beginning to wonder what kind of country this is. It just seems the epitome of policy based evidence making, and it is really, really depressing me.

I couldn't agree more.

I typed out a rant that almost nobody with kids at home and parents juggling work etc was going to select themselves onto a panel at this stage, self selected panels are never a cross section, not to mention the lack of scrutiny of experts.

I agree it was nice of the panel member to solicit views and feedback and tell us about it.

How did they select people and also ensure that they weren't all supporters of the SNP? or did they?
