Guilt free railing

The place to vent, moan, rail, cheer: whatever you’re feeling about Covid, and the rules, and life and the universe.

I’ve started this as I’m feeling scared and fed up with increasing restrictions despite vaccines. I feel that what should be a more positive time is instead bringing more and more doom.

I want the simple pleasures of life back, as well as all the big stuff.

Debates whether I could persuade DH to drive 20 miles for Krispy Kreme. Might be pushing it. Might manage more like 10 miles for m&s yumnuts

Sounds like an essential journey to me Grin

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 17/02/2021 12:48

@Bytheloch 😂😂 I'm laughing but who fucking knows now

Bytheloch · 17/02/2021 12:48

@Bytheloch

The ronseal approach- does what it says on the tin. I wonder how many we’ll get to using the number sequence...Guilt Free Railing #54 when we’re allowed to have a sparkling mineral water, outside a pub, alone, only from 11am and before 1136.
No ice allowed in that drink by the way, the data on ice suggests we shouldn’t be having ice served from hospitality until all pet hamsters have had the vaccine.
jabbathebutt · 17/02/2021 12:48

oh FFS, youse aren't supposed to be making me feel worse. Krispy Kreme don't deliver here and I'm meant to be getting back on my diet.

wants a fucking krispy kreme

sulks

shouldistop · 17/02/2021 12:50

@jabbathebutt sorry CakeWine

OldRailer · 17/02/2021 12:52

I'm on a Lenten thing of giving up obviously sweet stuff. I'm allowing myself jam and marmalade though😄.

titsbumfannythelot · 17/02/2021 12:55

This isn't the time for diets @jabbathebutt, food is one of few pleasures in life just now.

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 17/02/2021 12:59

Yeah I am giving up nothing this year for lent. Have decided I will give up Wine when and only when the pandemic is over 😂

littlbrowndog · 17/02/2021 13:00

Sparkling you say. Don’t get carried away

Outrageous.

Will be a glass of tap water handed to you with a gripper

titsbumfannythelot · 17/02/2021 13:00

And straight on to champagne
OldRailer · 17/02/2021 13:02

I toyed with wine but rejected it as a necessity.

Sweet stuff is because I'm scared I may need dental work! I am not good at sacrifice and went for the easy win!

titsbumfannythelot · 17/02/2021 13:03

@OldRailer

So I'm no longer fed up, namechanged now as I am feeling refreshed as a railer.
Tonight Matthew, I'm going to be an OldRailer 😆
OldRailer · 17/02/2021 13:05

Yep. Need some cosmetic work done before I namechange to SlightlyMoreYouthfulRailer.

anon444877 · 17/02/2021 13:14

I'm attempting dry lent - it's probably a good time for my liver, and not buying random 'necessities' from the internet. Since those are my two main lockdown pleasures it could be tough!

TonightMatthew · 17/02/2021 13:16

@titsbumfannythelot

Thank you for the name change inspiration. What a show that was.

OldRailer · 17/02/2021 13:24

It was good.

titsbumfannythelot · 17/02/2021 13:25

You're welcome @TonightMatthew I wish I'd thought of that name change myself now though!

rookiemere · 17/02/2021 13:25

I've just eaten a chocolate so can't give those up for Lent now Wink.

jabbathebutt · 17/02/2021 13:28

I've settled for a kit kat.

going to pretend it has no syns

OldRailer · 17/02/2021 13:29

I've just picked up on the comment about the glass of tap water handed to you with a gripper.😄

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 17/02/2021 13:30

@GoldenOmber, see your post yesterday at 22:56? Send it to NS. It's the grim reality for so many mothers right now.

WaxOnFeckOff · 17/02/2021 13:30

Now I'm not religious and don't really know what the lent thing is about, but I'm thinking that any god couldn't really give a feck if Claire at Number 22 has given up Custard creams for a few weeks?

I'd like to think that they would have compassion and understanding for the current circumstances and is also watching what is going on and thinking, "FFS Nicola, will you gie folks a bit of hope", even the devil like a laugh.

Hope that's not too sacrilegious? :o

OldRailer · 17/02/2021 13:31

Oh I had a chocolate in error from my DC earlier. I'm just not counting it as it was tiny compared with any normal portion I take. We are talking homeopathic.

Bytheloch · 17/02/2021 13:33

@OldRailer

Ha, yes just spotted too. Grippers will be rusty by then.
OldRailer · 17/02/2021 13:35

I'm not religious. For me it's a peg to hang some little, tiny, daily discipline on. I've failed already today by thoughtlessness but I'm going to plough on with it as a sort of negative habit remover.
