Guilt free railing

The place to vent, moan, rail, cheer: whatever you’re feeling about Covid, and the rules, and life and the universe.

I’ve started this as I’m feeling scared and fed up with increasing restrictions despite vaccines. I feel that what should be a more positive time is instead bringing more and more doom.

I want the simple pleasures of life back, as well as all the big stuff.

I think the shop voucher was just rumours - especially as there are no shops open.

The £500 for care workers/NHS is still missing, I'm sure they said by the end of the tax year so looks like that will go to the wire then.

titsbumfannythelot · 16/02/2021 13:39

Said they'll set out next steps.

I saw on uft yesterday that P4-7 will be mid March and secondary after Easter.

WouldBeGood · 16/02/2021 13:40

@StatisticallyChallenged this is the paper on the lack of vaccine resistance, just in case you’re interested. Royal Society

Thanks for answering, so was it just rumours 😟. Not that I really need it but the kids were quite excited by the idea. Interesting that the NHS bonus hasn't been settled. Was there an argument about whether it should be paid tax free? Which of course with varying tax rates turns it into a huge exercise.

RaraRachael · 16/02/2021 13:44

UfT were adamant yesterday that teachers have advance warning about what will be in NS's announcement - we don't. I am due to go back on Monday and really hope we do as it think the kids have hit a wall with online learning. As in Term 4 last year they were very enthusiastic to begin with but the novelty soon wears off.

WaxOnFeckOff · 16/02/2021 13:49

Yes, the tax kerfuffle. I think she wanted Boris to give the difference to make the tax back up to mean the entire £500 could be paid but as you say that is enormously difficult to deal with and was more pissing on trees again from NS.

I only look at info never post, there are some very acquired views in there!
Sweetpotatoaddict · 16/02/2021 14:07

The £500 will be considerably less for everybody. Seems she forgets she has control over tax when she chooses too. Definitely hasn’t when as a household we pay £1500 more in income tax than if we lived in England.

WaxOnFeckOff · 16/02/2021 14:13

Yes @Sweetpotatoaddict, i'm a moderate earner and Dh a lot less. he gains and I lose but overall we are only slightly more, so to be fair it doesn't impact us as much.

jabbathebutt · 16/02/2021 14:16

something in the news (forget the link) about S1-3 being after Easter, so yeah that ties in with what UfT are saying

shouldistop · 16/02/2021 14:35

Exit from lockdown even more cautious than last summer. Ffs!!

StatisticallyChallenged · 16/02/2021 14:36

It was hardly rapid last time

shouldistop · 16/02/2021 14:36

Exactly! We have a vaccine now. They all kept saying that was the way out. If it isn't then what is??

anon444877 · 16/02/2021 14:39

thank goodness the early years are back, but more cautious than last time, no easter holidays, all that as depressing as expected. She's certainly consistent. Since my DD is currently screaming the flat down I'm glad about schools at least.

Possible summer staycations - no English grandparents then presumably.

WouldBeGood · 16/02/2021 14:40

This is so depressing. Easter is in April, FFS. No holidays 😢😢

If we're really good we'll get to go somewhere in Scotland in the summer.

Still, tiny victories, schools, yay.

StatisticallyChallenged · 16/02/2021 14:43

Asking employers to keep employees at home even if kids are back at school - must not allow contact between adults to increase at school gates etc

WouldBeGood · 16/02/2021 14:45

I actually feel full of hate for her now

StatisticallyChallenged · 16/02/2021 14:45

And I was right about 14:35! She really can talk a lot about not much

shouldistop · 16/02/2021 14:47

What do you all think the chances are of being allowed to travel to a second home by Easter?

titsbumfannythelot · 16/02/2021 14:47

The don't meet other people passed me right off. Patronising and controlling beyond belief.
MaxNormal · 16/02/2021 14:48

I actually feel full of hate for her now

Yep. I've been there since last Wednesday.

titsbumfannythelot · 16/02/2021 14:48

Also, a staycation means staying in your own fucking house. We have been on a years staycation.

anon444877 · 16/02/2021 14:51

Yes staycation - we've been tramping around in the mud for a year already, and now if we are really lucky we might get to go to a different muddy field at some poly in the summer?

Well excuse me if I don't break out the fizz for that 😂

MaxNormal · 16/02/2021 14:53

And if they do actually let people travel within Scotland, I can hear the howls of outrage from the rual areas already as the central belt, deprived of their usual two weeks in the sun and half deranged after a year of boredom and governent-sponsered emotional abuse, drive up north en masse and leave it under a sea of litter, Tennants cans, portable bbqs and dead sheep again.
Fun times.
