Guilt free railing

The place to vent, moan, rail, cheer: whatever you’re feeling about Covid, and the rules, and life and the universe.

I’ve started this as I’m feeling scared and fed up with increasing restrictions despite vaccines. I feel that what should be a more positive time is instead bringing more and more doom.

I want the simple pleasures of life back, as well as all the big stuff.

Oh I have to come here because I fear I will be banned on the tiers thread 😡 we are supposed to be greatful for this bullshit? And I'm a naughty wee mummy if I talk to the mums at the school gates? Never mind the fact it's the one of the only times I can legally leave the house?

The quick point she slotted in how no easing of lockdown till at least mid MARCH

titsbumfannythelot · 16/02/2021 14:56

Come and be a miserable bastard with us.

frasersmummy · 16/02/2021 14:57

cases are falling, hospital numbers are falling, icu numbers are falling, but do not leave your house for at least another month..

seriously??

Exam years are not going back except for practical exams till mid march .. Am I the only person who thinks she has lost the plot

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 16/02/2021 14:57

Also whilst I'm on one. She couldn't even get the quarantine right she had to release them! I am defo miserable today 😂 mine will get back to school but it's not the fucking point I don't like a society where we pick and choose!

littlbrowndog · 16/02/2021 14:57

I haven’t watched her for months. Omg it’s so depressing

It’s like a telling off and we will never be out of lockdown 😥😥😥😥😥😥😥

But I am so glad for nurseries and p1 going back.

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 16/02/2021 14:58

No @frasersmummy I am right there with you

DeepfriedPizza · 16/02/2021 14:58

So next Schools opening phase not before mid March. I've said since December it won't be before Easter and that's looking more and more likely. That is depressing

littlbrowndog · 16/02/2021 15:00

We need to be cautious. Sacrifices

Jeez.

I wish I had never watched her

anon444877 · 16/02/2021 15:00

And I presume no holiday clubs will run at Easter so more desperate parenting antics. max state sponsored emotional abuse made me laugh.

jabbathebutt · 16/02/2021 15:01

Can someone update me as I missed part of it?

P1-3 back on monday?
other year groups not back before 15th march?
No easter holidays?
And what's this about staycations? Is that summer? and is it only in Scotland? (shite weather and midges?)

DeepfriedPizza · 16/02/2021 15:02

On a selfish note, I am being made redundant at the end of April. I was hoping for the schools to go back before then so I can get stuck into looking for a new job. It's bad enough that it's so hard to do my current job from home with us all in the house never mind job searching and interviewing.

littlbrowndog · 16/02/2021 15:02

No holidays at all for anywhere in the world including Scotland. Stay home in your house

Who knows about summer. Be cautious 🤦‍♀️

rookiemere · 16/02/2021 15:03

Well technically- and there has been many a mumsnet thread on this - a staycation means staying at home. If that's actually what our summer plans are meant to be, then shoot me now.

WaxOnFeckOff · 16/02/2021 15:03

I tuned in briefly (sound only) to hear someone telling Swinney to stop mumbling in the background and let her ask her question... :o

That was pretty much it as computer froze and I then shut it off again.

DeepfriedPizza · 16/02/2021 15:03

jabbathebutt

No Easter holidays, no and staycations in Summer where everyone that goes anywhere in Scotland will be chased out the are by the locals with pitchforks.

MaxNormal · 16/02/2021 15:05

Oh, and lots of Facebook posts about littering in Glen Etive! The long summer days will just fly by.

noname55 · 16/02/2021 15:06

OK if I join you all?
I have a P4 and I could cry. Another 4 weeks of this?
What was the telling off about the school gates all about??? I don't speak to anyone. The schools had systems in place to avoid this, using various exit/entrances and staggered start and finish times in my experience.

anon444877 · 16/02/2021 15:07

I tried to watch but I had to turn it off after 5 mins as too upsetting. Here's some god news - a small amount of kids will access their basic right that a decent education. And now here's a whole slew of bad news just in case you experience feelings of hope.

littlbrowndog · 16/02/2021 15:07

National tier apart from the islands.

Then regional tiers 🤦‍♀️

After the strategy framework to be published in 2 weeks

WaxOnFeckOff · 16/02/2021 15:09

The problem is that in order to enjoy a holiday at home, things need to be open, otherwise it's just the same as now but no work?

Last summer holidays we had an illicit drive, walk in a forest and an ice-cream outside our council area and on a different day, a picnic up our local hill which was hoaching with people and cold. That's it, the entire enjoyment of our summer holidays.

DeepfriedPizza · 16/02/2021 15:09

great, more tiers where the central belt will still be in teir 4 as they have been since October!

rookiemere · 16/02/2021 15:10

Didn't we have a roadmap last time and the time before. Couldn't she just use one of those and stick new dates on it same as we do when project overruns?

I wonder if they'll relax the teens number outside. Even that would make a huge difference- to me - at Easter.

Sweetpotatoaddict · 16/02/2021 15:14

I have never felt so much contempt for anyone in my life, after watching that.
My particular triggers were: summer “staycations”.
Spread of virus among parents at school gates.
Schools aren’t associated with increase in cases, it’s people’s behaviours that are. Why then are young people being punished by depriving them of face to face education.
Numbers are only now at the start of December levels( they were on a downwards trend then) Did she not notice the peak that had occurred at the start of November, in which health care workers died.

Watch this space, restrictions will carry on till the beginning of may, week of the Scottish government elections. When lots will be lifted.

titsbumfannythelot · 16/02/2021 15:15

We are now driven by dates and not data though rookie. If you keep changing the goalposts it's harder to see how terrible things really are.
anon444877 · 16/02/2021 15:16

agree rookie let's hope there is something different for teens and kids though as it's looking like we'll be spending easter like we did last year, learning too much about bloody snails, holding snails, admiring snails. Joy.
