I know there are problems but I'm glad things are being considered - if it is feasible for England it should be feasible here.

Lockdownbear · 05/02/2021 17:21

Good name, that's a good shout to split the drive. The drive is DH main objection to it especially will our youngest only being 4. Hmmm.

Anon I've heard that idea getting floated around too about an extra 4 weeks school in summer in England. The question is how?
If families and teachers have holidays booked, how on earth do they fit in an extra 4 weeks teaching, no matter what 4 weeks you pick some kids will miss out and the kids who've miss most HS are the ones least likely to turn up. I just can't see it happening.
I think what the missed school time should mean is kids gets taught right up to the bell rings for summer holidays, no taking foot off the gas two weeks early.

shouldistop · 05/02/2021 17:26

@Lockdownbear were planning Cornwall in the summer. We'll stop to go to Alton towers on the way down and Thomas land on the way back.

Dinnafashyersel · 05/02/2021 17:29

Cornwall is great. Staying with your GPiL can be challenging however.
Longleat is a good pit stop on the way-we stayed in a B&B rather than Centre Parks but not been for a while. Sidmouth model railway was also fun as was the hotel which was full of pernsioner coach trips squabbling over the scrabble much to DH and the DC's amusement.

Chris Musson on twitter confirming our suspicions on the "ah buting" comparing vaccine numbers with that England. NS has indeed been quoting on the basis of offered and % is against est target. Just a pity journos spent half a week indulging her as opposed to doing their job with a cursory "aye right" eye roll. Bet the corrections never make it off twitter either.

goodname · 05/02/2021 17:33

@RaspberryCoulis I was thinking uti as well, my grandad and husbands gran get real dementia symptoms with these and they get them a lot.
Hope something gets sorted out and hope you manage to see them. Have they had their vaccinations?

Dinnafashyersel · 05/02/2021 17:34

Sorry. Trying to focus on the "getting there" message it but really frustrating to see politicians of all sorts finessing the message over delivering the policy and being indulged rather than held to account.

On vaccine passports I wonder if this will be necessary to enable people going to countries who demand them (eg Australia and NZ). I have friends very much missing their DC and GC in NZ.

goodname · 05/02/2021 17:36

Oh and we stop on the way to Cornwall and then do the return journey in one day by leaving very early in the morning and stopping somewhere for lunch and a run around, then dinner and a run around. I’m not sure we’ll be allowed in England this summer though or am I being crazy? Though we might have to book Scotland but it’s so much more expensive and less to do, not many places with decent pools etc. Saying that we took the kids to mull in October and they loved it even though we did very little.

The consultant has phoned. It's not cancer. The growth was visually like it was cancerous but it's not. Next week is to check everything and a plan to go forward and he k the stents.

Lockdownbear · 05/02/2021 18:52

Great new Groovee what as worrying time.

Good name, I think by summer they have to lift Scottish / English travel restrictions. Honestly it think there would be riots by then if they don't.

jabbathebutt · 05/02/2021 18:55

that's great @Groovee

Saying on BBC news that SAGE recommend there should still be restrictions in September (new school term) and something similar to last summer instead so that would be masks, SD, transport restrictions (and students getting infected again probably). Not sure what else it would mean, especially in Scotland where they will definitely do something stricter.

MissEliza · 05/02/2021 18:59

Fantastic news Grover!

I'm not convinced. People just seem so placid- I honesty thought there would be more civil disobedience. Might be more likely as it stops being fucking baltic mind you
