Masks at the Christmas Dinner table..

tinseltitsbumfannythelot · 18/12/2020 18:53

Jesus wept. How can he say this shit without laughing

Dinnafashyersel · 18/12/2020 18:53

Wonder what the narrative will be if it turns out theyve overcooked it and we don't all choke on our Christmas Dinner?

Absolutely nuts. If I honestly thought the risk was so great that I needed a facemask to entertain my rellies I would definitely also think it was better not to bother at all. The mystical qualities of the gravy soaked facemask is deffo going to do more harm than good.

Dinnafashyersel · 18/12/2020 18:56

Angela Constance (Joe's replacement) seems to have made a half decent job of the ground work for taking over parts of the Benefits System so hopeful. Anyone remember why she isn't already on the Front Bench - I don't?

Bikingbear · 18/12/2020 19:25

The best bit is them trying to say it's WHO guidelines - somehow I doubt it!

Thing is I will be wearing a face mask at my in-laws. As will DD. They want us to visit for Christmas, but are in their 80's.
DD finishes high school on Tuesday and I'm waitressing until Christmas Eve. There's no time to isolate beforehand. If it was my decision, we wouldn't be going, but they're desperate for some company. So it's masks on, windows open and a short visit.

littlbrowndog · 18/12/2020 19:28

Watching nigella. She went to a bar !!!

There were people standing at the bar. !!

These were the days. The olden days. I now call them

WaxOnFeckOff · 18/12/2020 19:44

DS2 is home from Uni, he's already thinking on his feet - we've to liquidise our entire christmas dinner and sip it through straws carefully tucked inside our masks.

I've sent them both off to think about the cracker. DS1 is not happy with the suggestion that it breaks in the middle - then how will we know who's won? I had to explain that there are no winners in the game of 2m cracker.

WaxOnFeckOff · 18/12/2020 19:46

@littlbrowndog I'm going for a dry linner tomorrow. The big question is, will they be able to sell alcohol free cider or not based on the fact it does contain traces of alcohol and was refused to an under 18 in an airport bar...?

I often order it as a soft drink as a change from cola.

Mrsjayy · 18/12/2020 19:48

How are you meant to eat your turkey and drink your wine with your mask on what a pile of pish ! Oh and we have to take our own dinner services round to your mums Shock

Mrsjayy · 18/12/2020 19:51

I don't think you will be able to order low alcohol waxon you might need to content yourself with an appletize

Wine!!!? You were planning on wine? FFS have you not ben listening?

No alcohol, no crackers, own cutlery and crockery and face masks on and the irony is that only one tiny part of that hasn't been specifically banned/discouraged.

Bikingbear · 18/12/2020 19:53

Perihelion I do get it if your visiting someone vulnerable or elderly.

Someone said to me each family should be lead by the person or people who are most at risk. If Granny wants to see the weans at Christmas it her risk.

There is no guarantee that any of us will make it to next Christmas. The whole attitude "it's only one Christmas" its really grinding my gears.

I might just do a ping meal and sit in the shed or do your son's idea of liquidising. 😭

FFS, I'm going to try anyway. DH suggested a cool box planted in the loos and we excuse ourselves regularly for a sip.

Honestly you'd think we were alcoholics instead of just normal folk who probably get through a weeks limit over the year. It's my thrawn-ness coming out. Absolutely not blaming the bar at all, I'm sure they'd love to serve anything they can without the threat of a raid hanging over their head.

WaxOnFeckOff · 18/12/2020 19:57

Oh and the WHO recommended not having lock downs but they didn't follow it then did they?

Mrsjayy · 18/12/2020 19:58

Hipflask or wine bag strapped to you like a 5th year going to T in the park !

Bikingbear · 18/12/2020 20:01

I'm sure they'll be plenty hip flasks under the tables this year in restaurants.

I've been selling alcohol free beer, not many takers though. And have the suspicion that certain customers ordering tonic, may have been sneaking a wee gin in...

WaxOnFeckOff · 18/12/2020 20:09

they are allowed to do take away alcohol, two meter cracker used as a pouring device from outside?

I'm not sure I can't have the cider, there was a story of a bar that opened just doing tea/coffee etc plus alcohol free wine and beer just so that their regulars had somewhere to come and not be lonely.

WaxOnFeckOff · 18/12/2020 20:11

I think the beer is pretty grim whereas the cider is just nice chilled fruity drink and very refreshing. I don't drink it as an alcohol replacement, it's a soft drink replacement.

Bikingbear · 18/12/2020 20:12

No winner in 2m cracker. Xmas Grin

Another thought was to roll the paper round a plastic juice bottle.
