@Iwillneverbesatisfied

following on from Covid Christmas songs, DH keeps teasing poor DD who won't be able to go to school by singing "Lockdown girl" (uptown girl).

Lyrics still to be decided. So far its "lockdown girl, she's just living in her Covid world, I bet she's never had a national 5, I bet swinney never told her whyyyyy"

(she's not actually in S4 yet though lol)

The alternative lyrics are spot on. We need to come up with others! That should keep us going on the dark, winter, level or tier nights.

Sorry to hear about the shoddy response to your email. Unprecedented times. You knew that bit already🤷‍♀️

To be fair, we don’t have much choice in Midlothian! Unless you want a sofa 🥴

Does that non-essential shops travel mean my trip to Waterstones at the fort was legal?

Good luck in Tesco I was in supermarket yesterday it was heaving and was lacking social distancing. Normally it's been ok but yesterday just wasn't pleasant.

Good luck. I've just been to m and s in Silverburn and it was fine. Not too busy and very efficient service.

Booze run will be tonight.

runningpink · 22/12/2020 09:06

Just checked the booze cupboard and I only have two bottles of wine! 😮 Thinking I may need to brace ships this evening for alcohol.
I have loads of Prosecco but it feels wrong sitting drinking that myself as feels more a celebratory/fun times/socialising drink if you know what I mean.

Hope you survive Tesco @Cismyfatarse

LizzieMacQueen · 22/12/2020 09:15

HRTFT @runningpink but remember you cannot buy booze between 10pm and 10am. I'd forgotten that important fact when shopping at the quiet time of 11pm last night.

Shorternights · 22/12/2020 09:16

I can confirm there are no police checks at Straiton just now and that the M&S queue is very long, but moving quickly. Grin

Does anyone know if there are Police at the Border near Coldstream??

I have to come across today for a medical procedure but don't have paperwork to prove it.

I will have two kids with ASD in the car and don't want pulled over as it will really upset them.

NotAnActualSheep · 22/12/2020 09:22
@NotAnActualSheep well our decorations are rather more tasteful than normal as sadly our nodding reindeer has stopped lighting or indeed nodding and is now with the dump personnel who have decided to try to revive it for their Christmas display.

Talking about the dump DH was pretty sanguine about Saturdays announcement including the schooling bit, until I upset him by suggesting the dump may close again in Tier 4 Grin.
Ha! Amazing. A light up nodding reindeer that neither lights up nor nods!! Also, I think your DH works on the same wavelength as mine... totally fine about everything, but as soon as he realises barbers will have to shut he's down there in the queue for 9am.

runningpink · 22/12/2020 09:27

Don’t worry @LizzieMacQueen il be well tucked up in bed by 10pm so emergency wine run would be completed before then.

Peppafrig · 22/12/2020 09:30

@52andblue the police will be out and about Patroling but you have absolutely nothing to worry about . You are not breaking any rules so are perfectly entitled to come across. It will be fine I’m sure your word will be fine but chances are you won’t get stopped .

I don't know, but there's an article on the BBC that says they're really only stopping "suspicious looking people" ... people in vans that have English companies names on the side (though why that's not assumed to be a work trip I don't know), people driving erratically, people with loads of luggage and so on. I'm sure you'll be fine, and even though you have no paperwork the hospital (or wherever) will be able to confirm if needed. Still, I understand its not what you want. Good luck Flowers
52andblue · 22/12/2020 09:35

thanks, that is helpful.
I don't know if I can risk it.
I just checked my driving license is in the glovebox and though it is valid (as is my insurance, MOT done 4 days ago, all fine) the PHOTO part is (very, like years) out of date (how did I miss that?!)
I think I could get fined for that?

Peppafrig · 22/12/2020 09:41

@52andblue but you could get pulled by the police driving in your own street. It’s always a possibility. I’m sure you will be absolutely fine . But yes it is Illegal to not have that part up to date but it will be illegal in England also. When did it expire I know if it expires between certain dates this year they were giving an 11 month extension from the expiry date . Or you could update it online before you go .

52andblue · 22/12/2020 09:48

@Peppafrig
Yes, but I live rurally and don't usually encounter many Police.
It expired 10 years ago!!! I went online and cannot update it as it was so long ago that I don't even seem to be on 'the system')
I don't have a passport (again 10 years out of date as I've not been able to travel in that time) which would help either. I'm scared to use the car now.

Peppafrig · 22/12/2020 09:57

I found this online
If your Photo Driving Licence has expired, you can be fined up to £1,000. Your photo licence must be renewed every 10 years; if you fail to renew it at that point, your driving licence will be invalid. You can choose to update your photo sooner than this if your appearance changes significantly. This can be done online via direct.gov.uk or by filling in the DVLA's D1 application form, which you can get online, from the DVLA form ordering service or from certain Post Office branches.

Looks like your driving license might be invalid and you might need to sit your test again. Do you have someone else who can take you?

tinseltitsbumfannythelot · 22/12/2020 09:59

Don't be scared. Can you get to a post office to sort before your appointment? Or just say it's away to be updated on the very rare chance that you do get stopped?

Peppafrig · 22/12/2020 10:01

@tinseltitsbumfannythelot don’t you think the police hear that all the time. Everything is online now they will be able to see in minutes she doesn’t have a valid driving license.

JamesMoriarty · 22/12/2020 10:03

My MSP got back to me to say schools will reopen on the 18th and we can use informal childcare such as friends and family. Although it's not really childcare, it's homeschooling that needs done too.
