The no overnight bit is illogical most people will be sleeping in separate rooms from other households (!) so what difference does it make? Dangerous bacon rolls Xmas Confused

PapsofJura · 19/12/2020 18:52

My kids are really upset at no school as they know it isn’t that much fun, they miss their friends and the routine that school gives them. But it’s the teenagers and young adults I really feel sorry for (along with the businesses effected) as this is so tough on them.

chubbybear1 · 19/12/2020 18:53

Anyone know if I can still use my mum in England for childcare? We are right on the Border

WaxOnFeckOff · 19/12/2020 18:54

@Mrsjayy

@waxonwaxoff just finish your antibiotics do you have any antihistamines take 1 for the hives.
yeah, I asked on health and they recommended calling 111, I'm not doing that. I'm otherwise well. Just away to dig out the first aid box in the suitcase as I think that's the only place I have some - deep joy! very itchy fingers :(
RJnomore1 · 19/12/2020 18:54

I’d love to see the equalities impact assessment for this.

If you can’t drive because you can’t afford a car, you’re too young to have passed a test or for health reasons effectively you’re banned from going to family. Unless she’s planning running fucking public transport ok Xmas day .

RaspberryCoulis · 19/12/2020 18:58

I’d love to see the equalities impact assessment for this.

Details, details. There are people DYING FROM COVID and that's all that matters. The rest of us can just get to fuck as she plays her willy waving power games with Boris and Mark Drakeford.

My heads going round in circles, given we haven't been allowed people in the house since September I really wasn't expecting that to change before Easter.

Home schooling again - I guess we kind of knew it was coming after the chats a few weeks back. Seriously not looking forward to it. Should be easier if the nursery is allowed to stay open.
I really can't do that again but then again I think I'll have to work as well as home school. I don't know what's worse, work and homeschool or preschooler and home school. God give me strength!

I'm going to go ahead with plans to meet my Mum in the middle of the day. Not sure what my Sis will want to do.

She has seriously let down the kids today, especially primary school ones

Babdoc · 19/12/2020 19:02

I can’t see the logic of this at all. If you can spend 24 hours indoors with your visiting family members on Xmas Day, that risk is not made any greater if the same people are there for Xmas Eve and/or Boxing Day.

They will need to use your bathroom anyway on Xmas Day, and will be sleeping in a separate bedroom. So during the night are actually further away from you.
I could understand if they cancelled all household mixing completely, but to allow 24 hours is no different to allowing 72 hours.

I live alone and have been ill with long Covid for 9 months. I am devastated that all my exhausting Xmas preparations were for nothing.

Callisto1 · 19/12/2020 19:05

Is it definitely primary closed as well? I didn't see the announcement.

Bikingbear · 19/12/2020 19:05

That will be the same as many other things they have done - sod the poor who don't have 3 quid for a coffee, or who can't afford a holiday at October week, they weren't allowed a day trip either.

It’s actually worse for senior phase kids who are half way through prelims and should be finishing them the first two weeks in January.

They’re royally fucked again all because the snp have been too pig headed to do the right thing in the first place.

JamesMoriarty · 19/12/2020 19:09

The school thing has really bothered me. I am so sick of the keyworker narrative. I'm sure there are plenty of us non-keyworkers who started specific jobs or studies because our children would be in school and now we can't do them. Nothing against keyworkers themselves, just the Scottish Government.
I'm gutted for my only child who thrives in school and really struggled with the last closures and during an isolation period.

RaraRachael · 19/12/2020 19:10

Well we have gone from Tier 1 to Tier 4 along with everybody else. We were only having Christmas Day by ourselves as DD is working 23-25th so now no chance to see her at al Sad.

Schools closed but teachers have to go in - not sure of the reasoning behind this. I am sick, sick, SICK of doing everything I'm told to do and getting nowhere.
Just when you think it can't get worse it does

Bikingbear · 19/12/2020 19:12

I just hope people remember the shit show come the election.

Same but they'll probably blame everything on Brexit.
mondaywine · 19/12/2020 19:15

As was last time, school staff will be in the exact same situation as all working parents. Unless both parents are key workers then our children won’t be allowed into school while we try to work out of the house in schools and home school our own kids. What a bloody mess

Blondiecub0109 · 19/12/2020 19:15

Does anyone have any inkling what they’ll do about private nurseries? Ours was due to reopen on 4th (yep despite the holiday) and I’m due in work. We did March - August on our own and just done a week SI and I can’t carry on. I’m pregnant again now and I just can’t do it all staying up until the early hours and both of us either working or parenting

PostPopper · 19/12/2020 19:15

Not sure why you think that?

I have a dc in s5. Trying to do highers. Assignments / no assignments
Exams / no exams
Prelims in January / no prelims / tests for evidence in jan, feb, mar & April
Now school not going back til 18 jan, which is after the scheduled January tests. The constant change and uncertainty is off the scale.
I truly don’t understand why the mental health and education of our young people is being treated with such contempt.

rookiemere · 19/12/2020 19:19

@JamesMoriarty it's the schools bit that worries me. Fair enough increasing the Christmas break by a week - although if we aren't able to go anywhere how many germs can the DCs bring back in - but online for a week "aye right" is a very slippery slope.

And I'm so angry to hear the key workers bit being spouted again. Tier 4 isn't a full lockdown what happens if you have a non key worker out of home role ?

The only thing I was clinging onto was DS 14 being back to school. Currently his life is almost normal - I can't stand seeing him go back to his lockdown self. It's totally shit.

Bikingbear · 19/12/2020 19:20

Blondie- nothing has been said my nursery have messaged saying nothing is changing.

No information at all it seems Sad I’m clinging onto hope that they’ll still be allowed to open because they were under Level 4 previously, but who knows.

I have nursery and primary aged DC and it’ll be hard enough making some effort at facilitating ‘online learning’ while doing my job. Feel utter despair at the idea of going back to trying to do all that plus have the toddler at home again as well.

rookiemere · 19/12/2020 19:24

I know it's Happy Fucking Christmas isn't it?

Coquohvan · 19/12/2020 19:27

Sorry should have included in my previous post 👆 emergency service workers who work on Christmas Day.
