gibbons I have about one LA friend. I work (in normal times) in another and my family are still further away. I have already gone weeks just seeing my DC and colleagues online. Very glad I went to meet a friend last week and a colleague outside. We were planning to meet up outside over the holidays. This should be fine, right? For exercise within 5 miles of the boundary, except no loos and coffee shop open, which is my criteria for comfort!

level 4 lockdown for three weeks, reviewed after 2
christ knows what she would have done if the numbers were actually rising

WaxOnFeckOff · 19/12/2020 18:25

Oh FFS. So this new strain, is it more dangerous, is it impervious to the vaccine, can you catch this if you've already had another or is it just another strain, like all the other strains and the only risk really is that "the numbers go up"?

In other news, day 7 of Flucloxacillin (3 tablets to go) and I now have itchy hivey rash all over. Otherwise feel perfectly fine - finish the 3 last 3 doses or give it up? This appeared after my lunchtime dose, should take the next about 7ish.

Redglitter · 19/12/2020 18:26

And disgusting that none of them considered all the very many people who don’t get Christmas Day off

Exactly! And most of them will be people who've worked throughout this.

I honestly feel like crying.

WaxOnFeckOff · 19/12/2020 18:26

Sorry for all those who are now not going to do what they needed to for Christmas. It sucks bigtime Sad

AgentCooper · 19/12/2020 18:27

I can’t believe this. Just as we exited tier 4 I had to self isolate because I got Covid so I’ve been in all this time and am allowed out on Christmas Eve. I’m fine, but got it off DH who got it off his father who was dying in hospital (not of Covid, he was asymptomatic). His father died on Tuesday and the small funeral service is planned for the 28th. Or it was.

I can’t take this.

DH is a key worker so cannot WFH, at least very rarely. His boss, and several colleagues have had it. its a miracle DH hasn't caught it yet. But if this strain is more infectious then that's a worry.

WouldBeGood · 19/12/2020 18:31

@AgentCooper 💐

Rae36 · 19/12/2020 18:32

This is the worst. I'm so sad. I was counting on a couple of days with my folks to bouy us up and see us through January.

And then home school again in January, that will just finish me off altogether.

Rae36 · 19/12/2020 18:33

When does Christmas Day begin? Can we get in the car at 12.01am?

Rae36 · 19/12/2020 18:34

@AgentCooper that's so shit for you, such shit timing. I'm sorry x

Mrsjayy · 19/12/2020 18:37

It's just shit i am sorry travel /Christmasplans are ruined Flowers.

GoldenOmber · 19/12/2020 18:38

Oh goody, so looking forward to the next instalment of "no you can't have furlough or leave because you are a Very Essential Keyworker, but also you need to home educate your child at the same time because you're at home and therefore can do two things at once." Fun times!

Nothing about nurseries or childcare as far as I heard?

randomsabreuse · 19/12/2020 18:39

We moved up in April. I have an old (sport) friend 10 miles away in Falkirk and was getting to know some of her friends (with DC the same age as my DC2) but they're in Lanarkshire/ Falkirk. Other than that we're starting to get to know school run mums...

StatisticallyChallenged · 19/12/2020 18:39

This is such utter shit for businesses too. Tier 4 is brutal.

Mrsjayy · 19/12/2020 18:40

Yes but nobody's going to do that they are going to be travelling Christmas Eve.

We just have to not kill each other for a bit longer this is the true spirit of Christmas Xmas Grin

Raspberry SadFlowers

KatySun I was dehydrating myself in order to meet up with people earlier in the year Confused the lifeventure flasks are amazing for a really hot drink half way up a hill

I can’t believe they are closing schools again. My 8 year old nearly cried when I told him - he has loved being back at school this year. It’s about the only normality he gets. There’s only been one case of covid in his school since August and neither of mine were affected. They are just throwing kids’ education under a bus.

There was a question about nurseries but I don't think it was answered properly
Mrsjayy · 19/12/2020 18:45

@waxonwaxoff just finish your antibiotics do you have any antihistamines take 1 for the hives.

Rae36 · 19/12/2020 18:46

Coud she not even have said 8pm Christmas Eve so people could drive where they're going in the evening?
Fuck's sake.

We'll be in the car at midnight driving 90 miles to my mum and dad. Then leaving theirs at 10.30pm so we can get home for midnight before we all turn into pumpkins.

StatisticallyChallenged · 19/12/2020 18:48

Yeah, way to cause a bunch of crashes from late night tired drivers. They don't want overnights hence the Cinderella rules

Coquohvan · 19/12/2020 18:51

@thedevilinablackdress & @ssd
I do understand what your saying of course cases will go up!

Would an extra day or so from Boxing Day be so terrible? Really feel for people who were hoping to travel to visit friends & family. Not to mention NHS staff who are working Christmas Day, no chance now to see theirs.
