17 cases off new strain in a population of 5M+ in Scotland NS says ‘we’re shut

So maybe now's the time to try and stop it? Or wait till it's 1700 or 17000.

Aurea · 19/12/2020 18:01

NNNNNOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

Arkadia · 19/12/2020 18:01

Lost the will to live.
We were planning to have dinner with some friends (whose child goes to school with mine), but no...
Tier 4, why again?
Don't bother answer, who cares!

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 19/12/2020 18:01

The Christmas Day thing is mental - everyone travel all over within that 24 hours

And disgusting that none of them considered all the very many people who don’t get Christmas Day off

StatisticallyChallenged · 19/12/2020 18:01

Argh. Just ffs

anon444877 · 19/12/2020 18:02

@Scottishskifun I know, what a bloody way to see in the new year! Toddler, you have my deepest sympathies. Mine are primary age and I'm glad I panic bought a other bottle of gin yesterday!

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 19/12/2020 18:03

I see it now. FFS. What about people who work xmas day? What about people who will need time off work to home school? What about businesses already struggling. My beautician is not eligible for anything (she's honestly tried but nope) and she's about to have a breakdown.

Puddington · 19/12/2020 18:03

I've thought similar every time they closed certain shops or closed pubs early, all it ever did was push everyone into the same space in a way that was probably MORE unsafe than if people thought they had more than an hour or two to have a few pints. Never got that logic.

I still can't believe our Christmas is up in smoke. I'd bought some party food for just the two of us and the thought of eating it alone is like a bad joke.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 19/12/2020 18:04

Can you meet anyone in tier 4 outdoors or is it back to being stick alone again?

6 people from 2 households outside unless they change it.

RaspberryCoulis · 19/12/2020 18:04

fuck fuck FUCKING FUCKITY FUCKING FUCK.

Goodbye all shops and hospitality.

Fucking non-existent "online learning" for at least a week. Fucking teenagers stuck in the house at the coldest, most miserable time of year with nothing to fucking too.

What a FUCKING SHITSHOW.

Dinnafashyersel · 19/12/2020 18:06

Feel so heart sorry for anyone who took their kids out of school early in preparation for a now cancelled Christmas bubble. Xmas Sad Gin

Not sure how "phased return" will work. Suspect there is quite a lot of wiggle room so not really paying attention - not that I do anyway - too draining on the MH.

Arkadia · 19/12/2020 18:06

One week of extra holidays don't bother me. The question to be asked is, will the schools reopen after that?

JamesMoriarty · 19/12/2020 18:07

I have no words, I'm just absolutely gutted. I'm not in the fucking mood for the disaster that was the online schooling we were provided last time.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 19/12/2020 18:07

Does everyone have local friends? Are we really weird that we have no close friends or family in our LA? We grew up in different areas, met in another, moved to another & work has always been outside LA or field based Confused

JamesMoriarty · 19/12/2020 18:09

@Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons I don't. I'm Lanarkshire and friends are in Glasgow and my best friend in England.

Aurea · 19/12/2020 18:10

How long will the level 4 lockdown be for? Did she say?

anon444877 · 19/12/2020 18:11

Whatever they say now, it'll end when they decide, so what, March April time? Also hoping the online learning doesn't extend...

Dinnafashyersel · 19/12/2020 18:13

Gibbons I am extremely anti-social and have no friends. Even so I have lived here so long in close proximity with all my fellow tier 4 old hands that I couldn't go further than emptying the kitchen bin without meeting "1 other household" outside even in full lockdown. Almost all my working neighbours are "essential" and so life goes on with everyone mixing at work as normal and foregoing all socialising for no purpose.

Hence why I am so cynical.

rookiemere · 19/12/2020 18:15

I'm numb.

RaspberryCoulis · 19/12/2020 18:16

@Aurea

How long will the level 4 lockdown be for? Did she say?
For as long as Queen Covid decrees it shall be so.
Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 19/12/2020 18:18

James Dinna thank you I was starting to think we must be an bloody anomaly as everything seems to be planned around being able to see people local to you.
I’m really antisocial too Xmas Grin

KatySun · 19/12/2020 18:20

I will be very surprised if the schools open on 18 January Arkadia
Back to square one, it seems right now.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 19/12/2020 18:20

Gibbons, family and friends are in 5 different LAs. No friends locally either. At least there are 2 of us. We just have to not kill each other for a bit longer.

RaspberryCoulis · 19/12/2020 18:20

I have friends locally. But my family are further away, the nearest relatives are 90 minutes away, DH's family live in germ-ridden England. I've seen my parents twice all year. I now have to call my mum tomorrow and tell her that we can't come for the day next weekend.

StatisticallyChallenged · 19/12/2020 18:21

I could cry. We run after school clubs. 1 week before Christmas and we now face furloughing staff and a deluge of client billing queries.
