Thread #3456

Released from our dirty T4, but still bamboozled. Let’s keep each other sane on here...

Oooh that's the best nickname for Hancock I've heard!

WaxOnFeckOff · 15/12/2020 18:20

@winterbabythistime

So annoyed E Dunbartonshire is still level 3. Same number of cases as Falkirk which is level 2. I know it's to do with shared health board with Glasgow but it still really stings.
Falkirk shares with Stirling and we are lower cases and still a 3 so I think we need to stop trying to apply logic where it clearly no longer belongs.

I actually would be as well committing a crime and then getting tagged as I think it would be less restrictive and at least I'd have some kind of justification for the rules.

WouldBeGood · 15/12/2020 18:34

I see the tiers are to be reviewed again next week.

It’s like she wants this thread to keep busy 😃

Summer23 · 15/12/2020 18:52

@anon444877 not selective no, I just didn’t see the point in quoting fully, but here you go

‘I never normally wish ill on anyone but I really do wish NS needing to self isolate for a fortnight, not necessarily be really ill just be in contact with someone with the virus.’ Politicians fatigue is one thing but comments like that are personal and unnecessary.

randomsabreuse · 15/12/2020 19:00

If we have to be lumped in with our health boards it would be nice to actually benefit from the facilities of the health board rather than be limited to what little is actually in the county... Worst of all worlds.

Largely pissed off because East Dunbartonshire has fuck all for kids - even Dobbies is technically in Glasgow. Could be missing stuff though - there's a limit to how appealing the Campsie Fells are in winter...

Also been in various restrictions since September with no prospect of change - might have to put 2 year old in nursery so he gets some opportunity to socialise with peers.

Council sports facilities shut until new year.

WaxOnFeckOff · 15/12/2020 19:03

Oh jeez, I also wish she'd have to self isolate to give the rest of us some bloody peace. No-one has wished her bloody dead.

DH hasn't watched her for ages but caught a bit of her the other day and thought she looked like she was either on medication or that the lies she's told are all loose in her head and she's struggling to keep track of it all. I know I don't like her but she is the consummate politician and the lies and avoidances normally just roll off her tongue, trained by Salmond and out mastered him.

StatisticallyChallenged · 15/12/2020 19:07

Back to tier 3 again. Feeling very fed up with this today.

Bytheloch · 15/12/2020 19:15

Slight sidetrack to the voting at Holyrood tonight on the general principles of the hate crime bill.

I didn’t even realise that was happening- we’re all so focused on Covid. Convenient🤔

@randomsabreuse I know, there really is very little to do in ED with the swimming pools not even bothering to re-open.

dh took ds swimming to Clydebank pool at the weekend. I think kids exercise is essential - right?

Summer23 · 15/12/2020 19:28

@WaxOnFeckOff - yes and if she was to self isolate there would be someone else advising us of the same so no difference there. I do like her and think she’s doing a good job under tough circumstances.

WouldBeGood · 15/12/2020 19:29

@StatisticallyChallenged yes, it’s rubbish.

@Bytheloch I hadn’t realised that either, where are the media on this? Just bloody Covid.

RaraRachael · 15/12/2020 19:31

This time last week people were ecstatic that "end was in sight thanks to the vaccine" and now we're back to gloom and doom with people being put back into higher tiers and the discovery of this new strain of Covid.

It's just utter, neverending misery with absolutely nothing to look forward to and unable to make any plans, however short term Sad

WaxOnFeckOff · 15/12/2020 19:35

@Summer23, well we are allowed to dream, I don't think you've found your tribe here though...

Bytheloch · 15/12/2020 19:44
@WaxOnFeckOff - yes and if she was to self isolate there would be someone else advising us of the same so no difference there. I do like her and think she’s doing a good job under tough circumstances.
So yes, why can’t someone else just do the briefing and let NS get on with everything else?

WouldBeGood · 15/12/2020 19:46

If she was self isolating she’d addresses by fucking zoom

WouldBeGood · 15/12/2020 19:47

I think she’s doing a very very poor job. This is a total shambles.

Never mind the hate crimes, drug deaths, and wokery.

For context, I also think WM is doing very badly.

Summer23 · 15/12/2020 19:53

Well she is the FM so I’m sure there would be complaints if she didn’t address us.

WouldBeGood · 15/12/2020 19:55

@Summer23 it’s highly unusual in a democracy, or even a dictatorship, for the leader to address the nation on television daily.

Summer23 · 15/12/2020 19:59

@WouldBeGood - this is a highly unusual time and there is a choice.

WouldBeGood · 15/12/2020 20:01

@Summer23 ok🤷🏻‍♀️

NotAnActualSheep · 15/12/2020 20:06

I was thinking about NS having to self isolate the other day (not in a weird, voodoo doll kind of way... just mulling it over). I don't think it would stop her doing the briefings - she'd just beam in from her home office. However, she has, so far, been almost magically immune to the actual day to day impacts of the virus. I'm not even sure if she's ever even had to test herself for the virus because of symptoms?

Her workplace is still operating face to face, with good social distancing and hygiene etc in place. She doesn't have to trek in on a packed bus/ train, or deal with a boss who's more concerned about productivity than safety. She doesn't have to deal with children's school bubbles bursting with no notice and having to supervise home/ blended learning while carrying on conference calls. She is in a sufficiently powerful position that she can remind people around her to socially distance and not to cough in her face.

However, I do wonder if she somehow thinks that people who do end up isolating have somehow "failed" by not sticking to FACTS. I'm sure she has, and good for her. But even following them to the letter doesn't make you immune, and she is much, much more privileged than most even to be able to do so in her day to day life. I just think that her being contacted by Protect and Survive and having to isolate may make her realise that she's so far been lucky, and that it's not purely due to her own carefulness and caution. Maybe it would make her seem more "normal"? Who knows?

StatisticallyChallenged · 15/12/2020 20:12

@Summer23

Well she is the FM so I’m sure there would be complaints if she didn’t address us.
Daily pressers are completely excessive at this point. Hold one when there's a useful update which there rarely is.
titsbumfannythelot · 15/12/2020 20:19

@Summer23

Not from anyone here.
WaxOnFeckOff · 15/12/2020 20:20

Yes, also Lo I think that people out and about doing their job don't appreciate how people like @torvean32 are having to live.

And for something that has a very low rate of illness and death in non compromised people. I absolutely understand and agree that we should be protecting those who need it but we've done untold damage to many others.

Saw today a headline about how many deaths we are risking by meeting up at Christmas but honesty how many more would we be risking by not allowing folk to meet up?
