Thread #3456

Released from our dirty T4, but still bamboozled. Let’s keep each other sane on here...

@NotAnActualSheep

Is Falkirk blackmailing the FM over something? There’s no other explanation🤷‍♀️

I reckon there's some compromising photos of her in that tartan onesie cavorting around the Kelpies.

Does it involve JL mushrooms?

@Rae36 apologies, cross post with my flippant remark.

80% of us now in tier 3.

Why is it not working ?

Sturgeon was asked the question. The data behind where the transmissions are happening, how is it spreading

She waffled on about it’s very hard for us ordinary people to understand and we have to believe the scientists. When they tell the cabinet meeting what to do on a Tuesday

But that wasn’t really answering the question

littlbrowndog · 15/12/2020 15:40

No doubt we will get tier4 after Xmas.

I dread it

I wonder what will be decided on the phone call this afternoon.

I dread that

WaxOnFeckOff · 15/12/2020 15:42

Read the drugs story on the BBC Scotland Facebook page and reading some of the comments, honestly the mental gymnastics folk employ to paint this once again as a fault of westminster and nothing to do with the snp fucking amazes me.

This isn't an easy fix I imagine with a lot of issues long standing and endemic but it's a disgrace. And why do people continue to shout about it being westminsters fault and scotland not getting enough money (when we already get more than we pay in) when they want to be independent and not have access to those purse strings? Seems to be the narrative of then being able able to borrow, cos that's always better than free money right? Or do they think a new European sugar daddy will be more generous?

JamesMoriarty · 15/12/2020 15:43

I've been debating about booking a night away between Christmas and New Year but I just don't trust them not to change the rules again 🙄 I didn't watch the update but it sounds like they're considering it?

Ginsmything · 15/12/2020 15:44

I think the fact that Edinburgh has been in level 3 for weeks and has recently experienced a rise in cases is due to level 4 folk coming through for Christmas shopping trips. My daughter’s friend who works in retail said a lot of customers were giving West Lothian/ Glasgow post codes for their e receipts. My son is a BTP officer and has been handing out so many fixed penalties for unnecessary travel. It was bound to happen.

WouldBeGood · 15/12/2020 15:54

No evidence of transmission in shops

Dinnafashyersel · 15/12/2020 15:55

Gobsmacked Ginsmything. Would rather not bother shopping at all than trade Buchanan Street for Princes Street. I always refuse e receipts - bad enough Amazon knowing all my doings.

WouldBeGood · 15/12/2020 15:55

I think the blaming needs to stop. It’s a virus. It does it’s virus thing in sustained close contact.

@JamesMoriarty I too was hoping for a night away. Definitely not booking!

Bytheloch · 15/12/2020 15:59

Fixed penalties for ‘unnecessary travel’ 🤔

What have we (Scotland) become?

OP posts:
Mrsjayy · 15/12/2020 16:16

They did fixed penalties before at the start didn't they ? Just another thing for the police to do and get grief for Hmm

Bytheloch · 15/12/2020 16:26

9 months on, still being fined for travelling. It’s painful.

I think they’ll plunge us all into a T4 in the first two weeks of new year, that will cover schools and Unis returning too, keeps all public mixing places closed for that transition.
It seems the most obvious time, not that anything obvious has happened so far.

OP posts:
Torvean32 · 15/12/2020 16:43

I cant believe she's put Aberdeen at 3 when cases are in uni students being tested and the care home which was contained.
She's kept other cases with higher numbers at 2.
More proof she treats you differently based where on you live.

Im going to England over the rest if December. Mainly for providing care but a small break in a self catering place. She can fine me all she wants.

I live alone. I honestly have no friends or family here. I've seen nobody all year. I'm not spending Christmas like that.

WouldBeGood · 15/12/2020 16:48

@Torvean32 that sounds really hard. I hope you get a break and some company

Bytheloch · 15/12/2020 16:49

@Torvean32 absolutely, enjoy your break it sounds long overdue and much needed for you. Happy new year when it comes. Xmas Smile

You've been Stirling-ed @Torvean32 :(

I hope you have a lovely well deserved change of scenery.

randomstatistics · 15/12/2020 17:10

I find it bizarre how many people have lost sight of the fact Covid is not a life-threatening illness for the vast majority of people and most people will not require hospital treatment. My lovely mum nearly died three years ago from fluid round the heart and she couldn't walk 2 steps without struggling for breath. The GP was utterly dismissive and when she finally saw the heart consultant said it had been caused by a 'nasty virus'. We don't take such extreme measures for other viruses that can cause similar issues in older people ... and god help the health service is they ever open up properly. They certainly will be overwhelmed. Should we lockdown for that?

WouldBeGood · 15/12/2020 17:16

Wholeheartedly agree @randomstatistics.

It’s surreal

Bikingbear · 15/12/2020 17:28

Torvean32 that sounds horrendously hard. I can't believe that you have coped so long alone. Big hugs.

I'm finding the travel thing horrifically controlling.

Good to hear the polls are starting to swing against SNP.
Scotlands drug deaths is horrific esp compared to England. I wonder if there could be a link to the minimum alcohol pricing, price people out of booze they'll get their kicks cheaper elsewhere.
I never normally wish ill on anyone but I really do wish NS needing to self isolate for a fortnight, not necessarily be really ill just be in contact with someone with the virus. Give us all peace for a couple of weeks.

I read last night about the Christmas Star / Star of Bethlehem, will be seen for the first time in 800 years.
This year of all years, makes me think how weird, could it be a message? I'm probably best described as agnostic, have a loose believe in God but not overly religious. My annual visit to church is cancelled.
The other really odd thing I still haven't figured out how the Oxford vaccine managed to find out by accident that the half dose and the full dose works better. The checks these companies must do, and yet that was discovered by accident. Was there some devine intervention?
Maybe I'm reading too much into things.

Re the mink, I'm half convinced it mutated from the mink in the first place, the area in Italy Lombard and Wuhan both have big textile industries.

I'm sure people will analyse data from this for years what worked what didn't. And its becoming clear really heavy unpoliceable restrictions don't work.

Summer23 · 15/12/2020 17:39

@Bikingbear Sorry your annual church visit is cancelled, however, wishing ‘ill on someone’. Really? Disgusting.

Bytheloch · 15/12/2020 17:47

I wish NS a good festive break from our screens, in the news, leading covid, launching new referendum push, deflecting opposition and media questions too

OP posts:
winterbabythistime · 15/12/2020 18:03

So annoyed E Dunbartonshire is still level 3. Same number of cases as Falkirk which is level 2. I know it's to do with shared health board with Glasgow but it still really stings.

anon444877 · 15/12/2020 18:03

Nice selective quoting - wishing a period of self isolating on someone is hardly wanting something terrible to happen. I've got politician fatigue too. I'd like a Yule where I don't have to think about any of them!

WouldBeGood · 15/12/2020 18:10

@anon444877 that would be a great Christmas present!

NS is far too ubiquitous just now. Apart from when the drug deaths/care homes discussed.

And Boris and Wanksock can do one too. Christmas sorted!
