Oh no waxon - sorry to hear about your arm issues. That sounds horrible.

I'd definitely be up for hunky firemen doing vaccinations. And I think DM would be too.

I've not left my council area since September (?) Halo More by not having needed/ wanted to, than for trying to stick to The Rules though...you can get most things in Edinburgh frankly and my life is very small usually. I tried an illicit walk into East Lothian a couple of weeks ago but gave up before I got there because my feet were hurting.

We had one of those cook-at-home restaurant things for my birthday in April. It was pretty good actually - though lost points on presentation. Hope you enjoy it wouldbegood!

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/12/2020 16:41

I think it really depends where you live as to how easy it is to stick within your area. If you are Edinburgh then there are plenty of shops/cafes and walks available, even trips to the beach for a nice bracing walk.

If you are in somewhere like clackmannan, it's hard to really think about borders as it's small and a lot of your regular haunts won't be in clackmannan and I guess most areas are somewhere in between.

Not that I care where people go etc, I'm similar in that, apart from going to the hospital, i've not had any particular requirement to leave my area, so it's compliance by default. If I feel up to it we will be going to Costco though which is out of our area, is it essential? probably not, but then I've paid for a year's membership and have only been about 4 times so far.

Bikingbear · 12/12/2020 16:52

Many people around Glasgow would struggle to do Christmas shopping without online.
Ok South Lanarkshire has East Kilbride inc the Entertainer but there's no decent shopping centre in the whole of North Lanarkshire, I can't even think of a toy shop anywhere in North Lanarkshire, excluding Argos and supermarkets.

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/12/2020 16:58

Yes @Bikingbear it really depends where you are and what you want to do or buy etc and it's fair enough to say to an adult or even an older teen that you weren't able to source their gift locally and they'll have to wait/have an alternative etc but younger children, especially those who still believe in Santa shouldn't have to understand when their reasonable requests can't be accommodated for no reason other than it's 7 miles over the border. Obviously things such as DS1s request for plutonium in order to build some machine he had in mind when he was about 10 can completely be ignored...

Saw anti SNP graffiti on Glasgow today too - killing businesses

Wow! That really is a massive change in mindset.
BlackForestCake · 12/12/2020 22:29

@JamesMoriarty

It's so frustrating we can't get rid of them.
You can, all you have to do is convince people to vote for someone else. That's how the SNP took over from Labour as the dominant party.
WaxOnFeckOff · 12/12/2020 22:44

You can, all you have to do is convince people to vote for someone else.

DH and I have done one each this week. Smile I've noticed a distinct reduction in posts pro SNP on my social media stream, i'm hoping that makes a difference but the real issue id the lack of others to vote for. But then if they are all poor then it makes no odds to vote for someone else, anyone else, the best candidate in opposition.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 12/12/2020 22:58

Yikes wax getting a scab well enough infected for a fever is quite an advanced skill! Take care of yourself

I’m worried that the election timing will be in the SNPs favour - hopefully things will be looking up by then & the claim will surely be that St Nicola has saved us Hmm I hope the scrutiny steps up
(Also love a bit of slogan graffiti Xmas Grin)

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/12/2020 23:07

& the claim will surely be that St Nicola has saved us

Funnily enough that's exactly what DH said today, we will get loads of freedoms back in April so praise be to St Nicola Hmm

From a bit of googling I seem to have bursitis and it's not good if it gets infected and especially if the infection moves into the bloodstream when it can become very serious Shock

On the upside, I'm feeling better apart from my elbow still being swollen and tender so I appear to have fought it off.

We are definitely not having a good arm winter.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 12/12/2020 23:22

it's not good if it gets infected and especially if the infection moves into the bloodstream when it can become very serious I know! I’m trying to stop mothering people online so I deleted a lot of my post 😂 please keep an eye on it!

Have you two got matching swollen arms or a set between you?! Could make for amusing Christmas challenges... get the tree up with your team’s two working arms

Unfortunately/fortunately there may be enough people’s livelihoods fucked by this mess that it doesn’t all get forgotten- I think the ghostly high streets will serve as a reminder too

Wbeezer · 12/12/2020 23:30

@WaxOnFeckOff, thanks for mentioning us poor souls trapped in Clackmannanshire, jealous of friends in Stirling and Perth with big mountains, lochs and forests. I also miss the sea...my trip to St Andrews to fetch DS2 wasn't as much fun as I hoped, rainy and grey and we couldn't get in a restaurant as we were questioned about origins and DH hadn't practised a fake identity /Fife accent (he hasn't been fired up with the spirit of rebellion by this thread and was a bit reluctant anyway) It was a bit embarrassing and I felt guilty afterwards as I ate a sausage roll in the drizzle, not very festive. I suppose it was obviously we were parents collecting a student and not residents... Did go to the bookshop though, there isn't one in Clacks and I don't want to give Jeff Bezos more money than I have!
Nice to have DS home though, although he's already annoying his brothers by giving mini TED talks about all sorts.

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/12/2020 23:34

We have a working set and yes, I will keep an eye. I'm pretty sure the infection is gone and i'm just left with an uninfected bursitis which will probably go on it's own but i'm watching for the warning signs. It's not warm anymore, I have twinges but no shooting pains, the glands are no longer sore and my temperature I would guess is normal now :)

Anyway, I feel that I have filled about 10 pages all by myself just with medical issues Grin Just worked out I have only 8 days left to work before Christmas with 100 days of work to complete and then a reasonable break with hardly any work until 5th January. DS2 comes home next weekend so will be good to have a full house again. :)

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/12/2020 23:40

That's a shame @Wbeezer Sad I think we are venturing into the weedge tomorrow to go to Costco, we better have excuses at the ready. I'm hoping that the novelty of open shops in Glasgow will mean that Costco is quiet. It's an in and out mission impossible style hit for the basics of life such as toilet rolls and meat...and maybe a lasagna.

Booked for a late lunch next weekend with no alcohol as per tier three. DH still raging that the government can stop him having a pint with his lunch - i told him to be grateful that there might be background music!

Wbeezer · 12/12/2020 23:51

Didn't get questioned in shops just the restaurant, hopefully Costco is anonymous enough. I'll be back in Bof A for work next week so I'll get my more reasonably priced fish and chips there for my lunch, DH (my boss!) and I go to the cafe for "business meeting lunches" which are allowed!

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/12/2020 23:55

Excellent choice for lunch! The work on the railway crossing has curtailed any fish and chips in our house as DH has deemed the diversion too long to get the takeaway back to the house at optimum temperature...

Are you saying that a chippy is more expensive in Clacks?!

Wbeezer · 13/12/2020 00:07

No the posh chip shop in St Andrews today, which is nice but has smaller portions too.

Bikingbear · 13/12/2020 00:28

Waxon can I suggest you call for a Emergency appointment tomorrow if that's not any better. A 10 sec appointment and antibiotics should see you right.

Some folks have long, very long memories of political parties that pee them off, even once their leader is kicking up the daisies.

giggly · 13/12/2020 00:57

@Bikingbear there is an Entertainer in Cumbernauld town centre.
I am genuinely curious as-to who the alternative party to vote would be.
This thread should be renamed all those who hate Nicola Sturgeon/SNP because that’s all I can hear being shouted the loudest

Bikingbear · 13/12/2020 01:19

Giggly that's the biggest issue there isn't a clear alternative. Many areas the vote is split 40/30/30 so more people are voting against SNP than for them but the other 2 need to do some sort of deal to oust SNP.

giggly · 13/12/2020 03:07

Well I’ll not be voting labour or conservative I’d rather abstain than pick either of them. So I’ll stick with SNP until there is a credible alternative

Bikingbear · 13/12/2020 06:47

Why stick with more of the same?

Everything seems to be getting worse in Scotland, schools slipping down the PISA table, unemployment rates, industry is practically nonexistent, working class towns with no real work. Promised support for Bifab and boof they've gone to the wall too. What's Scotland doing to protect jobs, support the struggling industry we do have, have the softplay centres been given any money yet?
I'm still thinking about the poor guy from the Saltire Softplay pleading for help after months of no money or trade.

The last thing Scotland needs after covid and brexit is another referendum. We can see how hard it is to get a deal with Europe. What sort of deal would we get with our biggest trading partners?
You can see how hard Boris is playing it with Europe. Exit from the UK would be exactly the same. Oh and there's you share of the Covid debt.

Get your passport out at Carlisle?
Shetland put the fingers up and go for independence.
Going back into Europe, if they wanted us, wouldn't be in the deals we have now, you'd be forced into the Euro. Hand back access to Scottish waters. What about the oil will they want a share of that too?

The world has just shrunk. We've just proven many people can work from anywhere. How is that going to be controlled in the long term future?
The man who works out his spare room, in Glasgow, employed from London.
Does he suddenly buy a share in a flat in Carlisle so he has an English address that enables him to keep his job, he can use the address to open an English bank account, pay his taxes to England, dodging the higher tax rates in Scotland.

Anyway hows the 2m crackers going?

WouldBeGood · 13/12/2020 07:08

Oh! On the 2m crackers front, there are really long packs of Oreos in the shops.

Bikingbear · 13/12/2020 07:14

I am so going to try it.
What a hoot!
