@FluffySocks75

Is it just me who gets a shiver when Jason is all authoritative?

It's ok I'll leave quietly...Blush

I think it's just you. But that's ok, it's been a tough year.

The 500 is very divisive
NHS staff have been paid throughout
What about all the people who have lost their jobs or the self employed

throwingawaymyshot · 01/12/2020 06:41

Nicola doesn't like dogs. I got asked to keep my service dog away from her Angry impossible to do when I had to present her with something. akin to telling a wheelchair user "Leave your wheelchair over there".

I've made no secret of my dislike for that woman.

Matilda2013 · 01/12/2020 06:51

It really is going to be divisive because even here it's coming across as only NHS. No one is mentioning the care staff. Are they expected to donate it too? My relative worked so hard in a care home on minimum wage but again is also lucky to have been working and not furloughed to some people.

anon444877 · 01/12/2020 06:58

Yeah just like the free childcare/meals, why didn't they target the help where most needed? Or genuinely everyone. Because they're not a proper left party they want to push through another referendum which will make us poorer.

Hmmm, had a good night's sleep (first in ages) and still grumpy! I shall go and open my advent calendar and buck myself up.

First day of advent!

Tbh, what about unpaid carers? All the people taking risks for no money to look after people.

We were told she doesn't like dogs too - they did a pre visit and when we mentioned the cats the response was something like "we know she doesn't like dogs, cats? No idea "

I generally don't get on with people who dislike animals...

Can't believe you were asked to keep a service dog away. Utterly outrageous

anon444877 · 01/12/2020 07:15

throwing that's horrible.

Cismyfatarse · 01/12/2020 07:21

Is Nicola scared of your stunning pussies?

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/12/2020 07:25

@Cismyfatarse

Is Nicola scared of your stunning pussies?
Yup! Posted about it upthread (hence the gratuitous cat photos - they're really not scary are they!)
anon444877 · 01/12/2020 07:26

I can't imagine someone being scared of those gorgeous fluff balls - but my family are all the opposite, I'm always having to warn the kids that animals can be dangerous!

Svelteinmydreams · 01/12/2020 07:36

Checking in, delurked briefly on last thread, but am outraged by NS lack of like for animals - I have to take a stand now.
Apparently about to go into Tier 3 - have to confess standards have slipped in the Svelte house- but I am a wee bit busy trying to keep the shops alive right now.
Fed up of grandstand vote grabbing announcements - think this needs to be targeted at those people across all services who have been put under pressure - some NHS, some binned, pretty much all carers, etc.

WouldBeGood · 01/12/2020 07:39

I have no time for anyone who doesn’t like animals, and “keep your service dog away!” Is awful!

Well done those cats

Bytheloch · 01/12/2020 07:49

Fluffy 🤣😳 It was late at night. MN could delete for you?🤣

Bikingbear · 01/12/2020 07:55

Because they're not a proper left party they want to push through another referendum which will make us poorer.

If you look on the whole they are extremely left - communists!
Everyone treated the same

No freedom of speech - see the hate crime bill

Complete state control - named person / illegal to leave your council / things in England are guidance in Scotland are law inc the 2m social distancing.

No support for capitalist enterprise, soft plays nearly all independent businesses haven't been allowed to open but had no support. The shops that are closed now are nearly all independent.

Money given to support business seems to have been redirected to a national bank that we done need, and giving money to NHS workers.

No offense to NHS staff, but is that really the best use of money at this point in time? Btw I'm extremely grateful for the NHS and everything they do. Its absolutely amazing when you really really need it. Saved my life on 3 separate occasions!

anon444877 · 01/12/2020 08:02

agree about their authoritarian nature, thus year has demonstrated that beyond doubt to me and the cherry picking of approved of favourite state groups is certainly more of that ilk.

As a private sector paye mug who has the wrong politics it doesn't fill me with confidence for Scotland's future, or the way they've constantly manipulated the data.

Did you see that now the numbers aren't so friendly it's all 'too early to judge covid' whereas when they made up the claim about prevalence being what was it 7x bogusly lower in Scotland that was trumpeted from the rooftops...

Right I'll stop the political ranting.
More coffee needed - hugs to all, this year is on the way out!

I'm not sure they are truly a left party overall. Their current incarnation seems to be, but I think it's a party full of factions and in fighting led by a group who are desperate to be seen as progressive but who are instead landing squarely in authoritarian. Political compass at the last election had them just left of centre, and just on the libertarian side but I think things like the hate crime bill and the willingness to remove basic freedoms shows that they have slid to authoritarian.

WouldBeGood · 01/12/2020 08:08

@runningpink I love that 😂

WouldBeGood · 01/12/2020 08:12

I’d say they are authoritarian in a way characteristic of an unpleasant kind of nationalism

WaxOnFeckOff · 01/12/2020 08:13

See, left of centre libertarian is probably exactly where I would sit but I will not vote for them.

It seems fake, its about pitching themselves where they think they'll get the most votes. I guess at the moment they view that during a pandemic situation people want someone to tell them what to do?

NS is really mis-judging the mood of the nation now...
£500 to people who were paid as someone else said for their jobs throughout anyway and were not that busy where I am. At the end of the day they chose to do these well paid jobs ie the nurses and doctors, as they are seen as vocational jobs. So no they shouldn't be getting it. As I've said before what about people are have lost or going to lose their jobs or a poorly paid, give it to them. Sick of this.

WaxOnFeckOff · 01/12/2020 08:24

If they'd given the £500 in April/May it might have gone down better.

Some people in care settings worked as hard as a person could, some worked pretty much as normal, some were extremely quiet.

But they were working and being paid.

I think the mood much earlier was more conducive to a bonus for front line workers. An extra £200 in April pay probably would have gone down well amongst most folk.

Not this and not now.

I agree this is a big misjudgement. There are so many people who have had a horrendous time in various ways - this just doesn't play well.

anon444877 · 01/12/2020 08:29

@FluffySocks75 I just caught the Jason L comment, hahahaha. There's no accounting for taste! I'm sympathetic to that whilst also hoping you were drunk or really tired.

Agree wax - and what we see of the snp when they are confident of a huge majority is very much let's bludgeon the last few in our way.
