@Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons

FFS now level 2 & there’s no bloody point because everywhere we want to go is 3

StatisticallyChallenged
She needs to remember that being questioned is a good thing, it's an essential part of the democratic process.
Not sure she’s a fan of democracy...

Welcome to the East Lothian problem - all dressed up and nowhere to go
Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 08/12/2020 15:58

I should say I’m sorry for moaning to you clarty sods in 3s Flowers I don’t want to eat out so 2 doesn’t make much difference for me.

StatisticallyChallenged · 08/12/2020 15:58

@JudgeRindersMinder

Dundee staying in 3, so that’s hospitality even more fucked than it was already. Apparently titler had a “lump in her throat” when the first vaccination was done...she always has to make it about her doesn’t she.
Hancock cried, she couldn't be outdone

If you re listen to radio Scotland there was a very good pice on it from I think a professor of education from Edinburgh uni talking about the total cock up that SG have made of secondary education this year

It was on this morning. Not sure what time. Maybe about 8 am

He was totally scathing but there was a wee rammy going on in my house so only heard bits

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 08/12/2020 16:00

StatisticallyChallenged ooh that’s an excellent point! Lovely friends in East Lothian we could visit [if they weren’t planning to stay indoors until the “danger” has passed Confused ]

littlbrowndog · 08/12/2020 16:00

Why is Edinburgh still in tier 3. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

FFS

How long before we start seeing tweets to the effect exams should be permanently canned, then Scottish education would be completely unmeasurable from end to end!

I seriously saw a tweet suggesting the school should issue a leaver's competency report instead of exams. Can you imagine the employment carnage that would cause?

hilbil21 · 08/12/2020 16:02

I'm amazed Argyll and Bute stayed at 2. Although she did acknowledge the fact our massive jump in numbers was due to a workplace outbreak. Not sure why she didn't just say Faslane!

StatisticallyChallenged · 08/12/2020 16:08

Surprised she didn't take the opportunity to slag Faslane off frankly

dancemom · 08/12/2020 16:09

All Higher and Advanced Higher exams cancelled now

Welcome to the East Lothian problem - all dressed up and nowhere to go

Handbags and gladrags not required - clearly she's not a fan of Rod Stewart.

jeez with the exams, at least a decision has been made prior to Christmas.

This really bothers me. I grew up in a poor estate. Went to school in a middle class area where the teachers constantly underestimated me. Predicted grades were always lower than reality and lower than my marks for assignments and tests suggested. If I was going through school this year I would not have the opportunities I've had I don't think.
RJnomore1 · 08/12/2020 16:24

Please remember there is an election coming up in May people.

What a shit show today has been, yet again.

polarisation · 08/12/2020 16:26

BBC has this enlightening table... Red is T4, purple T3, teal T2 and magenta T1.

Kind of proves she's just pulling it out her arse at this point Hmm

Tiers of a clown for the next one? That’s what it feels like today. When is the next tier review date?

WaxOnFeckOff · 08/12/2020 16:27

I was a last minute crammer so this wouldn't suit me either but at least I would have some months to achieve something but agree there is room for individual pupils to be discriminated against. I'm sure there will be more checks and balances this time (well i bloody hope so) so that it should be fairer overall but that still allows for individuals to be failed unfairly.

@StatisticallyChallenged Exactly what I thought. I thought she would jump at the chance to remind Scotland how awful it is Hmm

RaspberryCoulis · 08/12/2020 16:32

Highers and Adv Highers cancelled.

Fucks sake.

anon444877 · 08/12/2020 16:32

I'm not keen on the predicted grades either - it can also push kids further down the line into courses they're not going to have a hope of achieving in reality (much family experience of this).

That's the smaller risk than not going altogether but does increase overheads on colleges and universities, idk if dropping out of university or college with larger debts is a great outcome in general for people either.

Not a fan of blind trust in teachers or any professional group.

Let's hope this is the last year of chaos.

yep, she also switched between using the exact figures on that to others that seemed to be plucked out of nowhere.

Starting to get twitchy about the next thread folks, someone needs to make a decision and start it as clearly I can't type properly and you all kindly didn't mention the mistake in the title of this one...Blush

I saw they're planning to routinely test asymptomatic school staff in January. Surely that will just result in a lot of disruption and isolation periods. Probably why they cancelled exams.

goodname · 08/12/2020 16:38

I really like tiers of a clown 😀

Wbeezer · 08/12/2020 16:38

I'm a bit worried about predicted grades, DS3 was finally diagnosed with ADHD this spring, he underperformed (based on the tests they do on arrival at High school) right up until the end of fourth year so I hope the grades aren't based on his record as his currents grades have jumped up as his concentration has improved on meds. I'll try not to worry about it, he's overjoyed as exams make him anxious...
