😳

Will your vote change next time?

OP posts:

I am frightened that being xenophobic is positively encouraged by the scottish government and even more frightened that I may be trapped here after having scottish nationality imposed on me.

Nyx · 15/03/2017 12:00

Settler watch is defunct now.

Thegruffalowswife · 15/03/2017 12:02

Apparently...

Come on are you really that naieve?

peggyundercrackers · 15/03/2017 12:02

looks like sturgeon will start backtracking on some of her ideas - 3 most recent polls have shown most people in Scotland don't want independence with and we will stay part of the UK.

mail - 53 for-47 against, the times - 57-43, comres - 58-25 - 17 undecided.

I wonder if sturgeon will step down when the vote is lost?

Nyx · 15/03/2017 12:03

Being xenophobic is positively encouraged by the Scottish government? Where have you been? I am sorry you are frightened. I am sorry if you feel trapped. How can a nationality be imposed on you? If you don't want to be Scottish you could be European. I don't want to be part of the UK and it is imposed on me.

MorrisZapp · 15/03/2017 12:03

I think it's fair to say there's shite flung by both sides. If we could all acknowledge that instead of 'it wisny me it wis them' then we could debate in an adult fashion. I'm a no voter and I'm fully prepared to admit that given my views are shared by half of Scotland, it's fair comment to expect that many of that group will be total and utter fannies. Likewise the other side.

trixymalixy · 15/03/2017 12:03

Ha ha. Instead the settler watch members are being amalgamated into the SNP.

Thegruffalowswife · 15/03/2017 12:04

There will always be another xenophobe to fill her shoes unfortunately.

Thegruffalowswife · 15/03/2017 12:05

You were born there though. It has been the uk for your whole life and the lives of your parents and grandparents. This is ridiculous tribalism.

Thegruffalowswife · 15/03/2017 12:16

According to the guidance.

When a new state is formed the government of that new state get to choose the criteria for citizenship.

That can be by birth country or it can be by who is living there at the time or people with heritage. I fit both of those criteria, but was born and raised in England (by scottish parents). My husband lives here and has no other connection with scotland but could have it forced on him.
If they decide to give it to people with scottish heritage that could have huge implications for scottish people in the rest of the uk.
I do not want to stay here if it is independent and the uk can refuse to give dual nationality (it is not popular at all with the uk government)

Nyx · 15/03/2017 12:17

I agree with what Morris said. I don't mean to be tribal (whatever that means).

Nyx · 15/03/2017 12:18

I believe the current line is that whoever wants to be, is Scottish. If you live here and want to be Scottish, then you can be Scottish.

Thegruffalowswife · 15/03/2017 12:19

The reality is that in the event of a yes vote there will be a for sale board outside my house, my husband will need to shut down his business and we will be abandoning g our lives that we have spent years building.

I will need to to ensure we keep UK citizenship for the sake of my kids futures.

Thegruffalowswife · 15/03/2017 12:20

Unless you are english

cheeseandcrackers77 · 15/03/2017 12:26

Yes voters can not deny there is a section of their voters who support the IRA. A Glasgow SNP MP took and published on her official SNP fb page a picture taken next to the Irish Flag at an IRA memorial.

Thegruffalowswife · 15/03/2017 12:28

"I believe the current line is"

It is exactly that just a "line"

Like "once in a lifetime"

Nyx · 15/03/2017 12:28

No voters cannot deny that there is a section of their voters who support Britain First, EDL and BNP. It goes back to what Morris said.

Nyx · 15/03/2017 12:29

Need to go and do work now, thanks again for the discussions :)

Calyx72 · 15/03/2017 12:30

Gruffaloswife 'unless you are English' just not true. Sorry you feel that way but it's your opinion and not actual fact.

trixymalixy · 15/03/2017 12:30

Nyx, we're not the ones trying to deny anything. You seem to be though....

Thegruffalowswife · 15/03/2017 12:31

Yes and one had an up the provos thing on Facebook and another one was banging drums at an ira guys funeral, and another one called then freedom fighters and wouldn't condemn the brutal murder of 3 off duty scottish soldiers.

The SNP are ram packed with them.

Thegruffalowswife · 15/03/2017 12:36

Why would no voters support the EDL? They are not scottish! If you can find any EDL supporters in scotland I would be quite surprised. Hahaha just picturing moving to scotland as an edl supporter my god Grin

Nyx · 15/03/2017 12:38

Sorry, of course I meant 'Unionists'. My bad.

Nyx · 15/03/2017 12:39
Blush
PigletWasPoohsFriend · 15/03/2017 12:40

If you don't want to be Scottish you could be European. I don't want to be part of the UK and it is imposed on me.

Surely that is a contradiction.
