Just daydreaming here - what would be your ideal age to retire ?

I am thinking soon - 40, but this because I have small children and it would be lovely not having to stress about work (on top of all the other life stress)

Do you need the 25% for a purpose? If not, it's usually advisable to leave it, the value of the whole pot will continue to grow and therefore the 25% gets bigger all the time.

Oh yes, I’m planning to buy the once in lifetime camper. Before I’m too old not to be able to enjoy it ☺️ We travel a lot to festivals and rugby tours so this has been the plan for a while. I’m not touching the larger pot and any left from the 25% is going into the boys jisa accounts.

After 20+ years as a workaholic, menopause hit me like a freight train and now, aged 50, I cannot wait to retire. I’ve had enough of the stress and constant demands. I’m surprised I feel like this.

But I had my child late and we moved up the housing ladder in our 40s, so realistically it will probably be 60 before I can go. If my daughter does a standard three year degree, she will be done when I am 59. We should be able to pay the mortgage off by then too, so that is likely when I will retire.

69 - I’m 64 now but we have an interesting business and I still like working as I’m quite entrepreneurial

I’m going to go on as long as I can, I like my jobs. But I do work for myself and I would want to be part time.

I would have loved to have retired already, but cannot afford to. Currently supply teaching 3 days a week and tutoring 5 days a week (just an hour a day). I will be 64 in January and might drop to 2 days teaching if I can pick up a couple more tutees. Ithink I will stop at 65, just because primary teaching is too bloody knackering! I might carry on with the tutoring tho'.

Did you take time out when you were younger? It doesn’t make sense that if you are teaching full time since you were 20/21/22 that you’d still be teaching now…

I’m 50 and ready now even though that isn’t financially viable - it is mentally and physically viable lol.
