I have just GOT to tell somebody!

I have been married 8 years and was told before the marriage that I could never have children. So no contraception for all this time. But I missed my last two periods and the doctor told me today that I am 100% certainly expecting a baby!!

My husband is currently on a plane to Singapore but he now knows the brilliant news. Mumsnetters can be the second to know bacause I have lurked her for so long.

I am so excited!!!!!

It's great to read some lovely news on here

Congratulations! x

Littlefish · 02/06/2010 15:43

Congratulations! We were told the same thing, but have our wonderful dd (aged 5) to prove everyone wrong!

As to when to tell people - it's really up to you. Some people like to wait until after their 12 week scan so that they know things are generally ok.

Some people choose to tell parents and close relatives earlier, but then tell everyone else after the 12 week scan.

Some people tell everyone straight away.

It's really up to you.

How many weeks does your GP think you are?

My DH was very proud of himself too, and was also in the Far East when I found out. I had to give him the news by phone. He was abosolutely stunned.

Lovely news, congratulations. My dh is away at the mo and we've been talking on the computer with skype - so much better than the 'phone (and free ).

Get yourself some folic acid woman and enjoy your pregnancy!

giveitago · 02/06/2010 16:47

can I ask how old you are? Congrats!!

Pitterpatter2 · 04/06/2010 07:32

I am 30 so not particularly old to be having my first child. I thought I had come to terms with being childless but now I am expecting I have realised what an impact that was having on my life. It feels like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders. I feel more normal.

Another one feeling teary here! Yes, please do keep the post going - or come back and post at regular intervals. Wonderful, wonderful news xxx

edam · 04/06/2010 11:46

Wow, what fantastic news. Am SO pleased for you. My sister was also told she couldn't have kids - had been trying for years with her partner (she has PCOS). Split up with him, met a new man and four months later surprise.

Pitterpatter2 · 04/06/2010 19:31

Well the men at the office (a solicitor's) were not ever so interested in my news. The senior partner, actually a nice enough bloke, immediately started researching maternity leave!

I have been very lucky because like my Mum I have had no morning sickness. MIL had it quite badly and is so jealous of me. No strange cravings either except I suddenly could not bear the taste of my toothpaste and have switched brands.

Folic acid has slipped into conversations again. Luckily I have been on vitamin supplements for a few years so the late diagnosis isn't an issue.

I think I am due a scan next week but the promised call didn't happen. Will I be able to see much?

DH is due back from Singapore in 8 days. I wish he was here now!

Fantastic news !! Well done to you both !

I was told when I was 27, childless, I had undergone the menopause

Devastating!

But here I am (after a few false starts ) with a teenager and a nearly-teenager
