I have just GOT to tell somebody!

I have been married 8 years and was told before the marriage that I could never have children. So no contraception for all this time. But I missed my last two periods and the doctor told me today that I am 100% certainly expecting a baby!!

My husband is currently on a plane to Singapore but he now knows the brilliant news. Mumsnetters can be the second to know bacause I have lurked her for so long.

I am so excited!!!!!

Fabulous! All the best for a happy pregnancy and birth.

Kathyjelly · 09/08/2010 07:40

Same here. DP was 56 at the time so it was a bit of a shock but once over that, he's besotted with DS.

FatGirlThin · 09/08/2010 07:56

Lovely thread PitterPatter! Congratulations and I look forward to the next updates Smile

MmeLindt · 09/08/2010 08:02

Oh, have missed this thread, Pitterpatter. Congratulations, how lovely it is to share your excitement and wonder.

How is the name search going?

ZZZenAgain · 09/08/2010 08:10

congratulations. This happened to my SIL too. She never menstruated and was told she would never have children.

She now has 4

I really like being pregnant. It has really given my life a purpose and it has put the minor niggles of everyday life into perspective.

People at work have all been so kind to me. For example the senior partner at the solicitors has even sorted out somewhere for me to have a short after lunch sleep and the magistrates (at least when a lady is in charge) have taken to asking me if I would like to address the Court sitting down!

I even think my skin and hair are better than they were. Less greasy?

Names is the next issue Grin

What a lovely, fantastic thread, congratulations PitterPatter :o When does your DH get back?
Glad they're being lovely at work.

Pitterpatter2 · 15/08/2010 14:35

I had my 20 week scan on Friday and everything is fine. By now of course the baby is moving and it is fun to see and feel the kicks at the same time.

I now know for certain that we are going to have a daughter which is exactly what both my Mother and I had a dream about last weekend!! Spooky.

I am now hungry all the time and seem to eat an amazing amount of cheese on toast. I even take extra supplies of food into work. I am struggling to put on enough weight but I have expected this as I have been underweight all my life.

We (DH and I) seem to like a lot of girls names which I suppose is better than stressing about it. Jasmine seems to be #1 choice at the moment - certainly not Vera which is MIL's favourite.

Having boasted about getting enough sleep I was woken up twice last night by a violent wriggling session. It gave DH a fit of laughter. Smile

traceybath · 15/08/2010 20:57

What a fab thread - many many congratulations Smile

darcymum · 24/08/2010 10:35

Jasmine, that lovely, I love all those flower manes.
Have you got a top five?

Don't forget as well a scan is only 95%, you could still have a baby boy in there Smile

darcymum · 24/08/2010 10:36

Sorry, what is going on with my smelling (joke) Blush

LC200 · 24/08/2010 21:10

What a lovely, lovely thread. Huge congratulations :-D

weegiemum · 24/08/2010 21:19

Just saw this for the first time - congratulations!!

I had my dd2 when expecting never to have another (had 2 already, got a mirena!) and found out around 13 weeks too - despite 2 previous successful pregnancies (plus mcs) I managed to be sick for several weeks without realising!!

Jasmine is a lovely name - one of my dd1's best friends is a Jasmine and we love her to bits!!!

Take care of yourself and have fun!

collision · 24/08/2010 21:24

Blimey! tears here too..........

Mumi · 24/08/2010 22:18

Just seen this for first time - not a dry eye in this house! Many congratulations :)

seaturtle · 24/08/2010 22:54

Congratulations. And your boss sounds lovely!

Pitterpatter2 · 25/08/2010 08:06

We are staying over at my Mum and Dad's for a few days.

He has never been one for showing much emotion so I was quite suprised when he asked if he could feel my tummy the next time the baby was wriggling and even more surprised at the pride and love on his face when he felt Jasmine move.

I love my Dad! Grin

Grin This is such a lovely thread. Congrats PitterPatter. Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.

PS I think your DD will have a doting grandpa by the sounds of things Smile

101damnations · 26/08/2010 23:34

Just spotted this.Congratulations!
I was told that I'd never have children by two different consultants, but had 3 pregnancies [1 ectopic, sadly] and two lovely girls.

Aminata100 · 27/08/2010 00:00

Yea, congratulations!

I was also told it would be a remote chance I would get pregnant, due to endometriosis, in my 20's

Now, the proud parent of a 19 year old! :o

(Did do a lot of "work" on it, from hormone treatment to acupuncture, think it was the combination of everything that worked).

Pitterpatter2 · 27/08/2010 18:31

I've noticed that baby Jasmine has a very wriggly spell every time DH and I have sex. I don't know if she is registering a protest or joining in the fun. Smile

I think sex has actually been better than it was pre-pregnancy but doing it on all fours with my tummy resting on some pillows does seem a bit strange. DH is not complaining though. Wink
