I found a class locally.
A one day workshop.
I thought it would be a giggle.
And i'd like to know how to do that tassles thing

Anyway, he said, 'have you finally lost your mind?, that's for old women with self esteem issues'

i told him not to be so negative and that I would have preferred him to be a little excited about it.
we haven't talked about it again.

but i still want to do it.
now what?

It sounds like he doesn't know what it is. Maybe you need to take him to a club.

preggydonuts · 03/01/2009 22:34

Do it and shake your thang in his face!

LoveMyLapTop · 03/01/2009 22:34

as an old woman with self esteem issues I say go for it!

mazzystartled · 03/01/2009 22:34

go
tell him you're dving motorcycle maintainance or decoupage
surprise him with your graduation piece

Dragonbrandybutter · 03/01/2009 22:36

but what if he really doesn't want to know and i've learnt how to do it.
would be a bit of a waste no?

i suppose there's always you tube

My DH would think 'DW learning burlesque = I get some private dances in slinky get ups = wayhay!'

Perhaps your DH is being mature and sensible (if not a little discouraging).

I'd like to learn, but then I am a plump older woman with SE issues!

LoveMyLapTop · 03/01/2009 22:42

when you have learnt to swivel your nipple tassles in different directions I am sure he will change his mind!

moondog · 03/01/2009 22:43

He is sooo damned right.
It's usually for fat old women with self esteem issues though who confuse slaggy behaviour with being liberated with no hang-ups.

Get yerself up a mountain in a nice warm coat instead.

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 03/01/2009 22:44

Do it.
Don't tell him.
It'll entertain you.
And then in due course, it might entertain him too! When he's ready of course...
But in the meantime, you'll have had a giggle.

I'd do it if I was that way inclined. I fancy the Argentine Tango myself.

Dragonbrandybutter · 03/01/2009 22:44

he probably was being mature and sensible but then i sulked and now it's an issue.

when he said about it being for old women with self esteem issues, I did reply 'and you think i don't'.

grrr.

a little 'wahey' would have helped.

Dragonbrandybutter · 03/01/2009 22:46

but i like vintage clothes, i love the 40s especially, it's all connected isn't it?

am i being naive and romantic about burlesque?

anyone know about it properly?

OP posts:
BALD · 03/01/2009 22:47

grrrr

Dragonbrandybutter · 03/01/2009 22:48

moondog, is dancing for your husband slaggy behaviour?
it would only be for him.
and presumably the class would just be girls

OP posts:
moondog · 03/01/2009 22:48

Maybe not but its naff.

Dragonbrandybutter · 03/01/2009 22:49

who you grrr-ing at baldy?
is your grrr, annoyance or desire?

OP posts:
BALD · 03/01/2009 22:53

at your hubby

you feel free to express yourself how ever you like

(scuse non reasoned argument have poorly boy in my lap)

MarmadukeScarlet · 03/01/2009 22:55

The very sweet churchgoing girl next door did a poledancing course, now that, imho, may well be a little erm dodgy. Although she has fantastically toned upper arms.

The whole point of Burlesque is leaving it to the imagination, no nudity required?

Dragonbrandybutter · 03/01/2009 22:56

i'm not sure what exactly i'd be trying to express, i'm more likely to make him laugh really. but that's no bad thing is it.

My DH thinks I'm odd because I have no desire to learn how to do it. We saw some programme that said virtually all women would like to be able to do it.

I think I'd just pmsl but if you fancy it go for it, it's always another string to your bow in what could potentially become hard times if you need a part time job

cheerfulvicky · 03/01/2009 22:58

I would LOVE to learn the tassel twirling thing. I say go!

S1ur · 03/01/2009 23:02

Heh sorry DB but as is my want I youtubed for you.

and pmsl, can you do it like this? because I think you should.

S1ur · 03/01/2009 23:03

ahem, wont.

BALD · 03/01/2009 23:03

erk am afraid to open that link

S1ur · 03/01/2009 23:05

Oh no DO boysie, you must

Dragonbrandybutter · 03/01/2009 23:08

yes slur, i want to do just that
pmsl.
wtf was going on there? i don't think i'd need a class for that one.

2 good points from that one

  1. i have the seamed stockings and the lipstick
  2. i just got a fringe

was a bit tame wasn't it.
