Good afternoon
I am looking for some prospective please.
I dont know if I am being irrational.
I have been with my boyfriend for 3 years live together ect.
I know he used to listen to Asmr before we met, I found out today he has still been listening to it. I didn't know. It is a woman talking and whispering one title was "tingles all over your head".
He works nights so we dont always sleep together. When I found out I was and still am so upset. I know it is my feelings but I cant help it. I know people have made it sexual. I think in this case it is purely for relaxation.
It has sent me on a major spiral. Please calm me down. I feel so unwanted and hurt.

Are you confusing ASMR with BDSM?

Oh, I hate it when I do that.

category12 · 19/06/2026 16:23

You're "allowed" to have feelings about anything. It's how you deal with these feelings that matters.

Some feelings, you need to sit with and figure out what's behind them and how to manage them.

If you agree that it's just for relaxation, then you need to figure out how to self-soothe.

Did you not read the rest of what I wrote?

I did! It feels like an emotional affair but it’s not. How does someone watching ASMR feel like an emotional affair

KojaksLollipop · 19/06/2026 16:26

I have misophonia and asmr makes me want to vomit. It’s not sexual though, it’s just noise. It’s like that episode of The Royale Family when Caroline Ahern gets jealous of the sat nav voice.

oliviaAustin · 19/06/2026 16:27

It’s not sexual or anything to be weird about. It’s controlling to say he can’t listen to clothed women practicing something that helps people sleep.

This is a very odd thing for you to have such an extreme reaction to OP, are you ok?

Nincompoo · 19/06/2026 16:28

This is weird as fuck. You’ve got issues

Coffeislife · 19/06/2026 16:28

I don't think you are in the right headspace for a relationship with that level of jealousy.

schoolfriend · 19/06/2026 16:28

I don't think you are 'allowed' to be be upset about this and maintain the facade of sanity I am afraid.

Thank you,
I just dont know if I can stay with him, he never told me he still listens to it that hurts.

No, I'm with the poster who told you to grow up. It's just relaxation. You're being horribly controlling.

It's Alexa you should be worried about. The dirty cow's 100% after your man.

So some woman talking to him whilst he is in bed all softy softy talking about cuddles or head tingling an attractive woman and I am not allowed to be upset

Reframe your thinking.

It’s a woman who makes money from talking in low tones in a generally accepted way to produce a scientific response that relaxes people. She is uploading them to the internet for millions of people to access to sleep - not just him.

It’s not a woman talking in his ear on the phone about getting together. It’s a lady who doesn’t know he exists making money from making sounds

Have you actually heard what he's listening to? From what I've heard of it you're making a fuss about nothing especially as it's purely for relaxation; to help him get to sleep after nightshift.

Is your relationship actually ok?

Then she's not talking to him. She made a recording and people listen because the sound gives them pleasant sensations.

Honestly OP, you might as well be upset about him listening to a Sabrina Carpenter song.

You’re right you should break up. You’re not a healthy person for him to be with. You’re overly sensitive and controlling.

In truth no love I am absolutely not. Apparently I am crazy.

ASMR is 99% (there's literally always someone who will make it sexual whatever it is) not sexual. It's used by people to help them fall asleep, it's good for Chronic Pain, and it can just be generally relaxing or to help put you in a flow state for work.

Yes it's often attractive women (GoodnightMoon, Latte, Gentle Whispering, Gibi etc.) but it's much more about how motherly they come across a lot of the time and the attractiveness is just by the by. There are also several men who do ASMR.
