Hi. I was talkin to a friend, her friends husband (they have 2 girls) goes to thailand for a boys holiday and sleeps with prostititues, the wife also knows this! He was talking and saying all men sleep with them. I certanely don't think my DP does and he works in germany all week. This man is a sleeze and goes out with a group of sleezy men who you can imagine do the same thing but surely he is wrong saying that?!

awww meg - thats so sad.

Remotew · 13/06/2008 22:51

Meg yes that story is sad. But how many women live without sex in the name of virtue, or for whatever reason. Not many men do. I've yet to find one.

Not many men admit to paying for sex with a prostitute either and certainly they try not to admit it to women. A couple have confessed it to me, in the light of discussing our past conquests, but it brought them down in my eyes.

Hanie · 14/06/2008 00:24

Load of bollocks. I know my DH hasn't. I would find it hard to be with a man knowing he had paid for sex (even if it was before me) I find it really sad and it drums up images of seedy old men and sad fat middle aged men who can't get a woman.

littlewoman · 14/06/2008 00:29

Agree with the opinion that all the men he hangs out with might use / might have used prostitutes, then he has generalised about all men - wrongly, I think.

CoffeeCrazedMama · 14/06/2008 09:41

Agree with Hanie - what does it say about a man (and his sexuality) that he reduces another human being to an object in a commercial transaction for his own sexual gratification? To say all men do this is ridiculous (and sad).

zippitippitoes · 14/06/2008 09:48

of course aLL men dont and of course all men havent

bubblagirl · 14/06/2008 09:57

most of the prostitutes out there arent even women but lady boys maybe he has secret sexual fantasy his wife cannot provide

i have friends that go out and do this but they are single and likely to be so for a long time

men who want cake and eat it and feel some element of control do this he obviously doesnt want to grow up and his wife is allowing him to act in this way

i would have him no where near me if my dp did this although i know he'd rather chew his own arm off

lets hope he stays safe and she gets tested and finds courage to leave and he can stay with his lady boys

madamez · 14/06/2008 10:06

Lets not forget that some men who don't pay for sex are sleazy, unpleasant and inclined to mistreat women. The men who get their jollies by sexually harassing their female employees, for instance. The men who routinely rape their wives or at least pester and bully the women they live with for sex until the women just let them get on with it for the sake of peace and quiet. Men who get sex by overriding a woman's objections or emotionally blackmailing or guilt-tripping her into a grudging 'yes'.
Many men like this will say, smugly, that they 'never pay for it' as though that makes them morally superior to those who do.

It's possibly the same own-world-itis coming out on here when the perception of a sex-worker's client is always 'man cheating on wife/partner' which again is not always true. Some sex workers' clients are single because they are older men whose wives have died, and they find that women their own age are either in monogamous relationships with other people, or don't want sex. SOme are men who have elaborate sexual fantasies that they would rather pay a sex worker to enact because unpaid partners aren't interested.

Yes there are bad things about sex work, particularly street work, but it isnt all bad any more than any other line of work.

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 14/06/2008 10:12

Bullshit. My DH has never slept with a prostitute and never would. He has never been to a strip club and I know he would hate it. He doesn't even watch porn. (He's not a prude, he's sexually liberated, but prefers sex with real women who are as into it as he is) (or should I say used to...just one woman now! lol)

The myth that male and female sexual natures are completely different is exactly that. I'm not saying our sex DRIVES aren't often different, but to say that all men just want to stick it in anywhere they can is insulting to the majority of men, whose attitudes to sex are really quite normal and not gross as this man seems to think.

StealthPolarBear · 14/06/2008 10:18

Without having ever asked him I'm as sure as I can be that my DH hasn't. However if all of the men in this guy's group of friends have (and do!) then it's easy for him to generalise and think they're representative of men as a whole.

staryeyed · 14/06/2008 10:43

Not all men are the same, have the same values and do the same things. Its ridiculous to say that all men do anything. I haven't met many men that would think sleeping with a prostitute is ok never mind something they would consider.

Leaves the thread and firmly closes door behind me.

layda · 14/06/2008 12:07

Quattrocento your thoughts on men that use prostitutes are not right. We unfortunately rented a unit and later found out that there are prostitutes in the front one. I see men coming and going on the hour and for the most part they are well bisiness dress, 20 - 40 something. Plenty of wedding rings, heaps of car seats in the cars and a lot of company cars! It's quite scary, people that you wouldn't think are sleazy if you saw them walking down the street.
Having said that I don't think all men use them. I knew someone who used to say that though while all the other men said nothing. I think it's something that people who use them say to make it more 'normal'

waffletrees · 14/06/2008 17:25

Madamez - I find your attitude towards male sexuality quite sad.

Love fetishists?? Men have pretty much the same feelings as women you know?

Tortington · 14/06/2008 17:27

my dh has never got his dick dirty

i just said to him " haveyou ever paid to sleep with anyone"
"NO! but i pay through the nose to sleep with you!"
har de fucking har!

misdee · 14/06/2008 17:29

what a load of bullshit.

i just read the title aloud to dh, and he said 'eugh no!'

i do know a couple of men who have done, but that was before they were settled down, and dare i say it, desperate.

Twiglett · 14/06/2008 17:33

it's a lie

Ambi · 14/06/2008 17:35

No, not all men have of course, but on my (male) best friends 21st to Amsterdam most of the group went with a prostitute. It didn't seem at all weird either, we all chipped in for birthday boys treat but I'd say 90% of the lads picked their windows and went in - some had girlfriends back at home. It was just how it was on a crazy weekend in Amsterdam.

Madamez - 'love fetishists' makes you sound rather. Lots of people feel like this - it's not a fetish in any meaningful sense of the word.

AbbeyA · 14/06/2008 17:44

Of course they don't!
It is very sad if they have to exploit women who probably have a drug problem, or even worse have been coerced into the sex trade.

expatinscotland · 14/06/2008 17:46

imagine being so sad you have to pay for it.

chopchopbusybusy · 14/06/2008 17:59

Of course not all men have had or would want to have sex with a prostitute, but I have been to Bangkok on a few occasions on work related trips with male colleagues (some married) and most of them did!

Love fethish - what a load of bollocks, why does everything have to have a label?

chopchopbusybusy · 14/06/2008 18:13

Dittany, fortunately post children I no longer work in the same job.
