Photo posted of children without my consent

Hi,
I recently posted about my Narcissistic MIL. She had got angry about me not posting a photograph of her hijacking my two DDs first look at my wedding. She ruined part of my day by sabotaging a first look between my DDs and she can’t seem to understand why I am upset about it and she decided to call me horrible names and say things to belittle me.
Well, yesterday she changed her profile photo on Facebook to the photo I never wanted to post. It wasn’t supposed to happen and she had access to it from a private album of our wedding photos. Where do I stand with this? I have reported it to Facebook for violating my privacy as I haven’t given her consent to post an image of myself and my children, but I haven’t heard anything back yet. I’m just not sure how to take further action.

OP posts:

From what I can read the actual issue is your 11 year old wanted a special photo of them (her and sibling) seeing you as a bride

I'd say the actual issue is who OP has married based on what she was posting about him last November. Sad

Yep.

She's married the man who spends all his time calling her a slag.

I think the OP has much more serious problems on her hands than worrying about her MIL spoiling the "first look" whatever the fuck that is.

Life is short. Family is precious. Be happy that your MIL was so excited about your wedding and enjoy her enjoyment.

This. Might be worth taking a step back and thinking about whether any of this will matter in a few years / months / days.

A content creator at a wedding is a new one on me.

It’s extremely popular, they create reels from your day and (mostly) it replaces a videographer

ILoveWhales · 01/09/2025 17:48

Seeing as you mentioned you'd posted before I looked for it for context.

Your other thread about your DH slut shaming you and calling you a slag WTAF?!

You have bigger problems than a facebook photo. Can't believe you still married that man.

TheLizardQueen · 01/09/2025 17:48

CarterBeatsTheDevil · 01/09/2025 16:13

I think I might be a bit triggered by just by the existence of a job called "content creator"

It’s a real job. Google it. People who are slagging the OP off clearly aren’t in the wedding industry

AnyoneWhoHasAHeart · 01/09/2025 17:45

Reader, she married him

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 01/09/2025 17:49

TheLizardQueen · 01/09/2025 17:44

There’s a LOT more to it than that lol, for a start the videos need to be edited!!

Ohhhhh then it's definitely worth seven hundred quid.

No they’ve read the OPs previous posts!

Port1aCastis · 01/09/2025 17:50

Content creator for a wedding?? Really? I just had the press and they were free.

Thanksforyourlackofthought · 01/09/2025 17:50

The ego has indeed landed.

babyproblems · 01/09/2025 17:50

Honestly normally I would’ve said YANBU as photos of your kids should have your consent HOWEVER I definitely think YABU seeing as you are a ‘first look’ type which is complete insanity and it suggests to me you are someone who is way over the top and irrational. Sorry if that’s harsh but a wedding is a ‘public’ event for your family and friends to witness. You don’t ‘own’ any part of the day and first looks are a complete faddy trend thing imo. If you wanted a photograph only for your own eyes forever, you shouldn’t have shared it or posted it anywhere at all! Which you obviously did or she wouldn’t have even seen it.

OneCalmReader · 01/09/2025 15:57

I’m not sure why people are triggered about having a content creator at my wedding or the fact my 11 year old wanted to record a first look. That’s not the point I’m trying to get at. My MIL went against my wishes.

Oh good grief, number two hundred and eleventy billion on the list of things I didn’t know were a thing, nor do I want to, first looks 🤷‍♀️ , content creators,
and being triggered by something, whatever that means…

Needmorelego · 01/09/2025 17:51

Having read that linked post - why on earth did the OP marry him.
He sounds horrible.

That'll be most of us.

I'm a retired midwife, which was a real job.

I cannot recall any "content creators" attending any of the babies' births with which I was associated, though.

ILoveWhales · 01/09/2025 17:53

Content creator is just a fancy word for posting shit on social media.

good for you, but I bet you didn’t earn £600 for a couple of hours!!

Hands up who thought a wedding was about two people declaring their love for each other and making promises and vows?

That’ll what I thought but maybe I’m wrong somehow !

It'll only be a matter of time... 😉

MyLimeGuide · 01/09/2025 17:53

AnyoneWhoHasAHeart · 01/09/2025 17:32

I think a lot of it is a case of who are you trying to convince?

The amount of people I know who have posted on their social media about how blissfully happy they are, tagging the “love of my life” in check-in’s and pictures etc and meanwhile they’re divorced six months later.

Or wedding vow renewals. Most of them happen after one or other partner has cheated. After all, given your vows state “until death us do part” if you’ve not died then there’s no need for a renewal, so the only conclusion you can reach is that it’s the marriage that died and needs renewing.

It’s all just so superficial mostly because people don’t want to admit to have failing relationships.

Yes agree, I feel bad now for ripping the piss its all quite sad really 😣

Spirallingdownwards · 01/09/2025 17:54

You gave her access to the photos. If she didn't respect your "first look" request why give her access. You already know what she is like. FB unlikely to do anything.

Scalextricks · 01/09/2025 17:55

OneCalmReader · 01/09/2025 15:46

my eldest daughter wanted my content creator and photographer to capture a first look of me as a bride. My MIL rudely walked into the room with them, going against my wishes. So I decided I didn’t want the photos and videos posted because she went against my wishes. She can’t respect this

You have a "content creator" ?
If you are spamming the world with "content" then you don't get to cry "privacy" when it suits

Sahara123 · 01/09/2025 17:56

VickyEadieofThigh · 01/09/2025 16:39

Are you saying that some couples engage a photographer to be present whilst their child is being born?

😱 please no…

MyLimeGuide · 01/09/2025 17:57

ThejoyofNC · 01/09/2025 17:31

With people who had been sat around all morning watching her get ready. So they had already seen her hair and makeup and probably went dress shopping so had seen that too.

Thats true! But then we know this is all staged for the content creator 😆
