DH has left me for a teenager

Just that really. My DH of 10 years has left me for a 19 year old girl who works in the local chip shop. He’s 36 and we have 2 children aged 7 and 3. How do I even begin to pick up the pieces? What do I tell the kids? I’m beyond broken and have laid catatonic in bed since I dropped the kids off at school/nursery this morning. Have a huge job interview next week for a promotion I’ve been working so hard towards.

@User048261940582 I hope you're doing okay 💐

TFICoffeetime · 13/05/2025 17:54

Play the long game. Rally your closest. Go for the promotion. Time will come that she moves on & he will feel that pain.
My Dad did similar. My mum now says best thing that happened to her. She's happily married far better off than she would have been. Spends her retirement v well & always on holiday. My Dad leads a small life. He told me he regretted not really seeing us grow up. His children were always and still proudly Team Mum. Including the grandchildren.

Nope, but they did 'get' him for low level drug dealing

(Part of a gang and he was at the bottom of the pile-taking orders and handing over the drugs)

This was in 1999/2000 so I'm not sure if things have changed since

He blamed me for that too-if I hadn't demanded so much csa, that he claimed he was paying,he wouldn't have done it

Truth is,he never paid a penny-they once rang him and he laughed at them before hanging up

They gave up chasing him after that

I’d try re-reporting him tbh. They can have an open close case with dna.

I mean it's an apt username for someone who thinks 17 year olds frequently look for men in their 40s and that as it's just about legal, there isn't anything amiss when kids that age do that.

Like a PP, it's not the kids I'd judge.

In our society, 17 year olds are not children and 17/25 is viewed significantly better than 15.5/17.

Remember the nude young ladies in Page Six? Most were 16/17.

Good Lord, you think this makes you look LESS creepy, don't you?

I've always found tabloids to be rubbish and stopped paying attention to Page Six in my early 20s tbh.

Still, plenty of guys my dad's generation were obsessed with it until the end.

Mumofteenandtween · 15/05/2025 19:37

Sigh.

That isn’t true at all. The only person that says that is you because you want to try and justify the fact that you seriously assaulted a child. And the fact that your poor 17 year old daughter would rather live with a sexual predator in his 30s than live with you.

Just stop. It's like bad flashbacks. You talk a lot about teenage girls, well some of us have been teenage girls and believe me, we knew what you guys were like back then too. You really didn't hide it. Just stop.

WhoAmIToTellYou · 15/05/2025 19:55

Asking you if you want to fight for your family? Hahaha. Sorry, what a piece of toilet he is. He leaves you for 19 year old and then basically asks if you fancy doing a little ‘pick me’ wiggle and rub his ego, so that he can feel good about himself knowing 2 women and fighting for his attention… Fuck that shit.

I reckon 19 year old will be gone very soon after she realises this idiot is now clinging to her because he’s got nowhere else to go.

RedRock41 · 15/05/2025 20:05

OP. I am so sorry. How do you even begin to get your head or heart round this? Be a 💯 kind to yourself until further notice. Do whatever you want or need to keep being able to put one foot in front of other. These are not normal times. Want a lie in, take it and enjoy it. Feeling low and want a takeaway, order it. Need rest? Take A/L etc. Any fool can criticise and most do but they aren’t in your shoes. You can and will get through this but nuclear, no going back (how can you? ultimate betrayal) button been pressed by your DH so concentrate on your mental health and being able to get from A to B.
Annoyingly… (no better word) you maybe will still be attracted to him and like a magnet 🧲 feel drawn to him. Or want his love or approval. Ignore that deceptive voice. It fades and is not real. In short in moments of doubt look at his actions NOT his words. With any luck 🍀 he will regret until day he passes away what he’s done and you herein will be his one that got away.

That was the view promulgated by some back in the 1970s. We've moved on since then, than goodness.

The teenage girls who were exposed in the tabloids were being horribly exploited.

I didn't assault any children under society's norms.

supercali77 · 18/05/2025 07:38

@Dadgivingup that's not the plus point you think it is. An almost 16 year old seeing a 17 year old isn't weird at all. I looked through your post history and you have a weird. Really really weird obsession with what the technically legal ages for teens are.

Assuming you're not a troll, you aren't the person you think you are and the world will be a safer place if you just stay away from teenagers and women in general. The only thing worse than a creep is a creep who thinks he's a hero.

You can’t be for real?

You beat up a 17 year old boy because he was dating your daughter who was almost 16? He came to meet you, and you assaulted him for no reason?

This makes you a thug and a criminal.

You sound like a man who shouldn’t be around any teenagers, male or female.

I think he means page 3 of the "Sun" newspaper. It stopped posting pictures of topless models in 2015

Launched in 1970 in The Sun newspaper, Page 3 brought glamour models such as Sam Fox,…

I remember page 3 well- absolutely grim. But I’m surprised that anyone would mistakenly call it page 6. Makes me wonder whether he’s a genuine poster.

I think there might have been another paper with similar on page 6. Maybe the News of the World

theDudesmummy · 19/05/2025 10:55

@Dadgivingup are you seriously boasting, on a parenting forum, about "beating up" a child? Ugh.
