Just this, really, and why or why not?

How do tattoos ‘date’ people?

By being a previous fad.

Celtic bands, Chinese symbols, Sanskrit, tribal designs...like having '2002' tattooed on instead.

Now 20 years on it's pocket watches for the boys and mandalas for the girls. Full sleeves for everyone. '2022'

They date in the same way the Rachel cut did.

I suppose since I’ve been in ‘alternative’ spaces for so long I just don’t really see it that way. Except maybe for tribal! I don’t get how people have such negative opinions over what’s essentially artwork. It’s totally fine to not like something but some of these comments are insane

I like tattoos well enough so long as they're original and well executed. I said earlier in the thread that I've seen a few stunners in my time.

I just don't think it's something people should run with the herd with.

What about people who don't get a 'fad' tattoo? I'm not sure any of mine are/were on trend, they were specifically chosen, it's not like I walked in and chose something from the flash book.

My DH designed all of my tattoos. Drew them himself - they're all based around things from the books/stories/poetry I've written and books I've liked since I was a child. I'm very into Floriography so a lot of them are botanical.

Not everyone just flicks through a flash book or runs with a trend. My DH's tattoo is music notes to the violin piece he cherishes.
