Just this, really, and why or why not?

Any tattoo at all would turn me off. I really dislike them and don't understand the appeal at all.

2Old2Tango · 13/10/2024 13:27

I don't mind a few good quality tattoos (not those things that look like a 7 year old has drawn them. I'd be put off by someone who has full sleeves/chest/back/neck tattoos though (eg David Beckham) as I think they just look dirty with all that dark ink.

WildFlowerBees · 13/10/2024 13:29

I've never liked them so when I first starting dating my now dh and he told me how many tattoos he had I was initially a bit put off. But they're not really visible daily and he is so much more than his tattoos. I'd have missed out on the best thing that's ever happened to me if I had allowed my prejudices to stop me.

It's who he is that matters.

TheCultureHusks · 13/10/2024 13:29

Tattoos are so ubiquitous now that it’s a slightly meaningless question in a way. It’s a signifier for such a range of interests and styles and types of people. I like tats on some kinds of men in some kinds of styles and then there are others which make me think aaaaaargh disaster.

TheCultureHusks · 13/10/2024 13:30

…and lots of others that are just background noise really.

Excellent point that quite a few on here should realise

needsomewarmsunshine · 13/10/2024 13:37

I have tats but don't like face, neck, full sleeves and on some really weird ones I've seen on legs of men and women.
David Beckenham why did you do it? You used to be good looking before all the ink and arm ink.

Maddy70 · 13/10/2024 13:38

No but it depends where. Facial tattoos absolutely not.

Sethera · 13/10/2024 13:39

Yes, it would be off-putting, they're a sign nowadays of a 'follow the herd' type person.

Superworm24 · 13/10/2024 13:40

It would depend on the type and quality. The name of an ex partner would put me off.

MinervaMcGonagallsCat · 13/10/2024 13:40

Yes. I really don't like tattoos on either men or women

ButtSurgery · 13/10/2024 13:40

Facial tattoos and neck tattoos, absolutely. Piss poor decision making skills.

Some hand tattoos too.

Obviously nasty, racist, or horror images would be a deal breaker too.

DH is covered in 90s tribal, military badges, and old fashioned sailor tattoos with full sleeves. Some are truly horrificly badly done - dodgy tattoo parlours over the years.... He now goes to proper artists!

I've got a half leg, but that's all I'll be doing.

Almostwelsh · 13/10/2024 13:40

I don't like them, they are aesthetically unappealing to me, but they're only a deal breaker on hands, face or neck.

BeautyPageantDropout · 13/10/2024 13:41

It would depend on how many there were and where they were.

I'd never get one myself but I'm not an anti-tattoo purist. But I can't stand when the entire neck is tattooed so it looks like an inky turtle neck.

RaraRachael · 13/10/2024 13:43

I grew up in a time when tattoos weren't that popular apart from old sailors etc. I always said I didn't like men with tattoos, long hair or earrings and I haven't really changed my mind over the years.
I suppose a small tattoo is ok but I hate those sleeves and tattoos on legs

My son got tattoos...I was a bit shocked, as he'd never shown interest in them before - He's very middle class and only has them on his lower legs - where they are covered up for work.

Loads of people have tattoos now, If a man is a good man, that's what matters, not his tattoos.

Depends what the tats say, of course!

QuintessentialDragon · 13/10/2024 13:45

Nah. Love tattoos, find them hot, including neck ones. Don't mind the face tatts as long as it's not full coverage.

That said, they need to be well done, not random squiggles all over the place.

Empty skin is boring.

Tisfortired · 13/10/2024 13:46

No quite the opposite. DH has a couple of them and they are proper art. I find them quite sexy.

Now if the guy was covered in tattoos of his own DOB and the outline of his pit bulls paw it would be another story.

Iamuhtredsonofuhtred · 13/10/2024 13:48

I love tattoos. Green flag for me

I saw a New Zealander News Anchor {Oriini Kaipara} who had her chin only tattooed...{Māori traditional design}

That looked initially bizarre, but only as I don't see facial tattoos in England like this on women.

BunnyLake · 13/10/2024 13:49

Facial tattoos are a definite no-no. Anyone who has one would, to me, signify someone with deep rooted issues that I wouldn’t want to deal with. Nor would I like too many tattoos all over the place, (David Beckham style) and I’m not keen on that sketch book look of random tattoos (the look Harry Styles has).

Ordinary tattoos are fine (a couple on the arm type stuff).

These are just my personal preferences.

That is their culture, all the women have them. I’ve got to be honest though, I don’t like it but respect that is their way.

TeabySea · 13/10/2024 13:51

No. I would be more interested in their personality.

outforawalkbiatch · 13/10/2024 13:52

No, unless racist ones
I'm fairly heavily tattooed but you can't see any of them when I'm dressed

Misseditagain · 13/10/2024 13:52

A man with ink yes please more ink the better.
Im not a lover of plain skin waking up next to someone covered in tattoos is blissful.
