Men, what's that one thing that your girlfriend/ partner/ wife does that keeps you committed to them?

This really.
I'm curious to hear men's version the main reason they are in a committed relationship with their female partners.
Only looking to hear from men.
Thanks

@ElaineMBenes I suppose it varies and depends person to person.
For me, I do these things for my partner as I stay at home, and have the time.
If both partners working and have their own different schedules etc, then I can see why they wouldn't want to do this.
I think it's just something nice, that takes up little to no time and it shows care and appreciation

Fair enough.

I would HATE my partner to lay my clothes out for the day. That's what we do for our child, not a partner who is an adult. But each to their own 🤷🏼‍♀️
Nowt queer as folk as they say round my way......

ElaineMBenes · 17/01/2024 11:03

He said she does small things that are nice, then gave examples. Hardly worth throwing up over

I didn't say that ..... that was someone else.

I responded to someone asking why wouldn't you do it. I replied by saying it's infantilising. It's what you do for a child.

If you like it then fair enough 🤷🏼‍♀️

It would be a complete turn off for me and my DH would agree.

Planesmistakenforstars · 17/01/2024 12:17

detest and, dare I say, threatened by the idea that feminity is desirable. And also perplexed by what it means.

I personally am sincerely, genuinely perplexed by what it means, if it doesn't just mean "being a woman." Can someone define what they mean by it please?

PaintedEgg · 17/01/2024 13:53

Josette77 · 17/01/2024 02:58

It's interesting that femininity seems an undesirable trait by women.

I've had many partners comment on my femininity amd strength. I always took that as a compliment. Feminine strength is no less than masculine strength.

it's not undesirable, it's just that it's about as meaningless as saying "i like pretty women"

So many extremely defensive replies from women on here who clearly don’t want to know what men actually think, but believe they already know the answer.

For me: we have fun together, we have similar tastes in music and other activities, great sexual chemistry, she laughs at my jokes and appreciates me helping her with stuff. We live separately and both have kids from previous marriages which makes things tricky but also means we understand each other’s issues and baggage. She’s hard work but brilliant and I love her loads.

And yes, she has a great arse.

your reply seems to be very much in line with most replies posted by women so who disagrees or doesn't know that having fun together and good sex life makes for a happy relationship?

Boomboom22 · 17/01/2024 08:23

Like being married to your mum when you were in primary school 😅

Not at all like being married to my mum.

Every morning when she goes downstairs there is a cup of tea waiting, same as there is every evening when she gets home.

just little things is both directions that take no effort at all and put a smile on someone’s face and make them feel appreciated.

What’s not to like? Life must be pretty miserable for people who would have an issue with any of the above.

Herbiebanannas · 17/01/2024 15:12

ElaineMBenes · 17/01/2024 08:49

But why wouldn't you do this if you had the time for it?

I guess for me it feels infantilising. And I'm pretty sure there aren't many men putting out their wives clothes just because they have time.
As adult your clothes are your responsibility and that includes laundry!

Did you even read what I posted?

I get my own clothes out and they would be perfectly ready for me when I get out of the shower.

She likes to just tidy them up a bit. It’s a tiny thing that makes her feel like she has done something and makes me smile each time she does it. It’s not a one way street, I do plenty in return and certainly don’t struggle to get dressed of my wife is away for a few days if that is what you are suggesting🙄

ElaineMBenes · 17/01/2024 15:40

Did you even read what I posted?

yes I did. I wasn't replying to you. Even if I do think it's a bit odd.
I was responding to another poster.

Well done

I haven't suggested that at all.

My DH’s answer was abject terror and the great sex.
When I asked about my ethereal femininity I couldn’t tell if the answer was a snort or a whimper.

Ladyj84 · 17/01/2024 15:54

Just asked my other half and he laughed and said what a weird question. The fact we both love each other and work at it together it what makes it work

PrawnDumplings · 17/01/2024 18:02

Twattergy · 16/01/2024 20:15

Femininity!
Feel like I've travelled back to the 1950s with that one! 🙄

It's ethereal apparently 😂

PrawnDumplings · 17/01/2024 18:03

HollyKnight · 16/01/2024 20:53

My DH said "you put the fear of death in me".

🤣🤣🤣

Planesmistakenforstars · 16/01/2024 21:17

'Ethereal' femininity.

There you have it everyone! The answer to him cheating on you is that you didn't float around like a delicate flower enough. Or maybe you farted?

😂

something2say · 17/01/2024 18:14

Anyone remember the thread about the sight of men's forearms peeking out of their shirt sleeves??

God the posts!! So many women said it was so sexy, so masculine. Then we did height, chest hair, thighs....etc..it was lush to read.

I don't have a problem with the idea of femininity. I know it turns mens heads. Just as masculinity makes us, well whatever our responses are.

It just really struck me that so many posted on that thread, fanning themselves about the hair poking out of the shirt sleeve yet we get annoyed that men look at our waists and bottoms and boobs or hair.

Josette77 · 17/01/2024 18:48

For me feminine strength means that I am very nurturing and maternal and ferocious when it comes to protecting my loved ones. I'm a soft place to land, very communicative, and show up for people. I have the stereotypical female qualities and love to take care of people. I've had a hard life in ways and that's made me even more protective of making sure my family feels safe and loved. Abuse, foster care, dead parents. I think I came through all that softer in ways and I'm happy with that.

Maybe that sounds stupid but I loved it as a compliment. It made me see the things I'm good at, as strengths rather than weakness's.

I like the idea of feminine characteristics being seen as strong. I consider myself a kick ass woman. I have a ds with complex sn's and my whole life is taking care of him.

I guess I've often seen people make fun of so called girly things as though they are frivolous and pointless. It was nice to be told it's attractive.

PaintedEgg · 17/01/2024 19:06

@something2say except we don't. Nobody said being feminine is wrong, fun was made out of the undefined ethereal femininity concept. Blokes who said they like their wives' butts were at least specific!

In fact, I personally detest the idea of femininity being this unexplained, magical characteristic. Women are very much real and our wide spectrum of femininity can be defined and discussed.

@Josette77 I love your response, genuinely love it

Thank you. 💝 I really appreciate you saying that. xx

Just asked H
"There isn't one thing there's loads of things"

Dantedisciple · 17/01/2024 21:49

To have someone who wants to be loved by me.

And failing that, her smile. My heart soars when she smiles at me.

MrsHughesPinny · 17/01/2024 22:05

My DP says “your cooking, your ass and that for some reason you love the shit out of me.”

I think you can be both feminine and strong and that it’s largely about communication, empathy and nurturing. He’s very much a manly man but I’m the higher earner and he doesn’t feel threatened by that. I am more attracted to typically masculine men, DP is a serviceman, and while I’m ardently feminist I don’t think there’s anything wrong with liking what you like. We’re all individuals.

We each have different strengths so we don’t do each other’s stuff. I do cooking, decorating, grocery shopping etc and he does dishes, bins, and grim things that I don’t like involving either going outside or getting dirty.

My love language is acts of service so I enjoy doing nice things for people—all people, not just him.

Twattergy · 17/01/2024 22:19

Funny how my comment about femininity being from the 1950s has been interpreted as a rejection of or distaste in femininity. Not at all, totally wrong end of the stick. My femininity (femaleness) is something of which I am truly proud. What I reject is the lame, and somewhat patronising (to me anyway) suggestion that femininity as the thing that men love about us. The sense that it is a thing that cant really be explained, that we just exude it (or not) and men just pick up on it. Like that's the sum of our parts. Look at the answers from men on this thread. Each paints a vivid, human picture of a complex person that the man loves. Really lovely some of them.

Spinet · 17/01/2024 22:29

Ahem, howdy <Adjusts moustache>. What makes me keep a woman is if she knows then little female tricks as makes me want to keep her, ma'am. <spits> I seen plenty a fine fee-male go a wastin' cos she's got ideas in her head above her station. What we menfolk like is a purty dress, all ribbons and fancy-like, and a hot pie on the table, and we'll keep you just fine, missy. Stands with hands in breeches pockets, etc.

loadedchips · 17/01/2024 22:34

My husband said because I make everything funny, everything I say or do is either sweet or sexy(even drinking a glass of water) and my ass is a perfect peach 😂

jesuisterriblementmarrier · 17/01/2024 23:08

Well my partner said the question is a loaded question whatever that means 🤷‍♀️. No answer here either .sorry OP

No, no - not just femininity!

'Ethereal' femininity.

And if you don't know what that means I guess it's because you don't have it.

Like a wood nymph or an angel? 🤔
