Locked out and took keys off me.

My husband has come home from football, drunk. When he’s drunk he’s really abusive.

This evening he has locked me out, taken all my house keys off me for our house and has told me I’m not allowed to come back. Our little girl who is 3 is in that house.

Is he lawfully allowed to lock me out, take my keys and tell me I’m not allowed to come back?

what leg do I have left to stand on?

Call 999. Your very young child is trapped in a house with an abusive drunk.

BabaBarrio · 16/12/2023 21:19

Call the police, he is not allowed to lock you out of the marital home. He is also drunk and abusive, so it is a safeguarding issue for your 3 year old toddler.

jayhoo · 16/12/2023 21:20

Call the police, it's a welfare issue if nothing else. He can't be drunk in charge of a three year old. After that, plan to leave. I'm sorry this is happening to you

BabaBarrio · 16/12/2023 21:20

You and your toddler need to be able to pack bags while the police are there and go immediately to a DV shelter. Do not spend the night there with him.

MsTwaffles · 16/12/2023 21:20

Call police re safeguarding issue with your toddler asap

HappyHamsters · 16/12/2023 21:22

Agree call 999 and get him out of the house

ectoone · 16/12/2023 21:22

Please contact the police, your child needs protection.

User87645632 · 16/12/2023 21:22

Omg. Police.

vodkaredbullgirl · 16/12/2023 21:23

Call the police, like others have said.

cestlavielife · 16/12/2023 21:25

Call 999 right now

OhThatHappenedWhatNow · 16/12/2023 21:25

That’s a matter for the police as he isn’t allowed to lock you out

AdoraBell · 16/12/2023 21:25

Definitely call the police.

febbabies2023 · 16/12/2023 21:26

Completely unreasonable me would be breaking a window and taking my LG out of there!

Rational me as other posters have said, call 999, get the police there and make sure you're LG is okay!

caringcarer · 16/12/2023 21:26

OMG phone 999 OP. I don't want to frighten you but If your husband is drunk there is no telling what he might do. You need to get in with the police immediately explain the situation and ask them to come over so you can go in whilst the police are there and pack a bag for you and DC and go to a refuge. What a bastard doing this to you just before Xmas. I don't know what is wrong with some people, to be so nasty.

cestlavielife · 16/12/2023 21:26

Have them witness his abuse and cart him off
See a solicitor monday fordivorce

Hiddenvoice · 16/12/2023 21:26

I echo everyone else here and would phone the police.

He’s drunk, you’ve said he’s abusive and your child is alone. Phone the police to get support and help yourself and your child.

Hope you’re okay@MuddyPaws1993

AllAroundMyCat · 16/12/2023 21:26

Why have you posted on MN and not called the police?

dizzydizzydizzy · 16/12/2023 21:26

You poor thing. Call 999. Your child is in danger.

SomeoneYouLoved · 16/12/2023 21:27

Go to a neighbour and call the police. Tell them he is an abusive controlling bully and you want him out. Also contact Women's Aid, they can help with keeping you and your child safe. Good luck.

strawberry2017 · 16/12/2023 21:28

If you're named on the deeds legally he cannot lock you out.
If you're not then technically he can.
Realistically that's not the concern right now, your child is. Ring the police and explain what's happened and get her to safety.

blackfluffycat · 16/12/2023 21:29

Aw is your DD asleep? Will she know you're not in? Where are you? Stood outside? Thank god you had your phone on you.

AthenaWhite · 16/12/2023 21:30

You get off Mumsnet and call the police. Your child is in the house with an abusive drunk man.

AnneValentine · 16/12/2023 21:38

Ring the police. Immediately. If you don’t you are placing your child at risk. I can’t believe you’ve even hesitated.

mumtoboys12 · 16/12/2023 21:40

Ex police officer here- please call 999.

MrsTerryPratchett · 16/12/2023 21:41
