My husband has come home from football, drunk. When he’s drunk he’s really abusive.

This evening he has locked me out, taken all my house keys off me for our house and has told me I’m not allowed to come back. Our little girl who is 3 is in that house.

Is he lawfully allowed to lock me out, take my keys and tell me I’m not allowed to come back?

what leg do I have left to stand on?

Get the police -your daughter isn t safe locked in with an abusive drunk.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 17/12/2023 01:06

Legally he’s not allowed to lock you out. Call the police. Your child is in danger

Nanaof1 · 17/12/2023 02:04

OP, I hope you and your DD are now safe from this man.

Whatever it takes, end the relationship. Anyone who would lock you out because they are drunk is capable of much, much worse.

Please, update when you can.

grumpycow1 · 17/12/2023 03:29

So sorry OP, I hope you managed to get your daughter out and to safety. Please update when you’re able to.

Gillypie23 · 17/12/2023 05:17

Call 999. That's domestic violence and he's a danger to your child.

Didkdt · 17/12/2023 06:42

Are you back in the home?
the short answer is no he can’t.

frecklejuice · 17/12/2023 06:48

Hope you are back in your home op and he spent a night a the station. Please start making plans to leave, if not for yourself then for your dd. x

EasterIssland · 17/12/2023 07:06

Hope youre ok op

Discomboobulated · 17/12/2023 07:33

If its a rented property then he can change the locks and not give you a key. This is only if he is the only one on the tenancy agreement.

sunr111se · 17/12/2023 07:34

Hope you are ok OP

Authorinwaiting · 17/12/2023 07:36

Awful. I hope you got help.

GotMooMilk · 17/12/2023 08:00

I hope you called the police and I hope you leave your husband. Don’t live in an abusive relationship especially with a small child. Get out now.

DragonMama3 · 17/12/2023 08:10

Mumsnet HQ - please would you check she's ok? I'm worried for them both.

topnoddy · 17/12/2023 08:17

OK how many times are people going say "call the police" ?

Shall we start sweepstake

Dotcheck · 17/12/2023 08:22

OP, I hope you got in and that everything is ok.
Please don’t let him try and convince you that he won’t do it again. He will. I hope you and your daughter are safe

DragonMama3 · 17/12/2023 08:24

And just how is MNHQ supposed to do this?
If OP wants to return to the thread she will 🙄

I hope you’re safe OP.

DragonMama3 · 17/12/2023 08:25

I dunno really. I'd rather someone checked than bystander effect.

howdoesyourgardengrowinmay · 17/12/2023 08:27

???
That’s just going to return the address of the ISP exchange…you can’t just get anyones address from their IP.

Truly heard everything now - post on Mumsnet, don't call the police, luv.

And when you do get around to ringing the police, press them to charge him with something - it might just teach the arrogant, abusive twithead something. Why do I get the feeling you won't though?

SoFineOkay · 17/12/2023 08:47

If your toddler is locked inside a house with a violent drunk, you don't waste time writing on Mumsnet, asking what to bloody do. It's obviously a wind-up.

I hope it is, but sadly you do wonder.
