Locked out and took keys off me.

My husband has come home from football, drunk. When he’s drunk he’s really abusive.

This evening he has locked me out, taken all my house keys off me for our house and has told me I’m not allowed to come back. Our little girl who is 3 is in that house.

Is he lawfully allowed to lock me out, take my keys and tell me I’m not allowed to come back?

what leg do I have left to stand on?

OP posts:

So you post on here about it instead of calling the police ?

TerrysChocolateOrange · 16/12/2023 21:42

Oh my Lord, you couldn’t make it up.

Denimdenimdenim · 16/12/2023 21:43

Call the police. An absolute must, OP.

Nicole1111 · 16/12/2023 21:44

He is a danger to your child and you have to ensure her safety. Call the police and take this as your sign to end this relationship once and for all.

Hairyfairy01 · 16/12/2023 21:45

Your priority here is safeguarding your dd. You therefore have no choice but to contact the police now and explain the situation.

StrawberryWater · 16/12/2023 21:47

Please tell us you called the police OP.

LakeTiticaca · 16/12/2023 21:48

Yes please call the police. You are obviously in a state of distress and please ignore the vitriolic comments from some of the nasty pieces of work on MN.
Keep your daughter and yourself safe x

FPCculture · 16/12/2023 22:13

If he owns the house ,I hope after this you live this fool and start your own life. One always have to their own back just Incase ,men or women.

In this case ,call the police and take your child ,it's a welfare issue. Let us know how it goes

zeibesaffron · 16/12/2023 22:14

Phone the police, then file for divorce on Monday - why on earth are you putting up with this shit!!

Your child needs safeguarding now!!

Sweetglossy · 16/12/2023 22:15

This is really sad OP.

It reminds me of comments made on a radio during a football season in England, charities for abused partners/mostly women, mentioning, that was their biggest time as every day there was a football match, they were looking on a dozen of women especially awaiting abuse at home once the matches finished.

So sorry to see this proved, before my very eyes.

Velvian · 16/12/2023 22:18

Hope you and DD are OK @MuddyPaws1993 .

greenbeansnspinach · 16/12/2023 22:29

999 and say your child is inside and he is drunk

CrackersCheeseAndWinePlease · 16/12/2023 22:37

Definitely police, he's drunk, abusive and in charge of a 3 year old!
Call them explain he's drunk, abusive and locked you out they'll come out and help you.
As soon as you get inside lock him out and dump his arse

RosieCockle · 16/12/2023 22:46

CALL THE POLICE PLEASE!

Wolfiefan · 16/12/2023 22:48

I do hope you’ve taken the advice here. And he will also soon be an ex.

AuntMarch · 16/12/2023 22:49

Honestly why are you asking an Internet forum instead of trying to get either him or your child out of that house?!

VitoCorleoneOfMNMafia · 16/12/2023 22:50

AllAroundMyCat · 16/12/2023 21:26

Why have you posted on MN and not called the police?

It's clear from the OP that she wants to know if she has the legal right to enter the home first before potentially wasting police time, and has asked on the UK's biggest parenting website in the hope that someone can advise her.

It's flawed logic because the child safeguarding concern alone justifies a police call, but then if I was locked out of my home with a dependent child inside, I wouldn't necessarily be thinking logically either. Putting the boot in doesn't help her.

Hopefully, the OP has called the police by now and they've either locked "D"H up overnight or have helped her and DD to a safe place.

This comment also applies to @AuntMarch and all the others putting the boot in.

Anele22 · 16/12/2023 22:53

OP come back and let us know you’re alright

halfpasteleven · 16/12/2023 22:56

Anele22 · 16/12/2023 22:53

OP come back and let us know you’re alright

Please do OP. Hope everything works out for you and your DD.

blettedmedlar · 16/12/2023 22:57

For god's sake call the police! It's obviously not the first time he's been abusive, you are putting your child at risk.

shininglight16 · 16/12/2023 23:01

OP have you called the police and been able to get back in? We're all really worried please update us when you can 🙏

Livelovebehappy · 16/12/2023 23:06

Why does Op need to go to a refuge? Can’t the police go to the house and remove him and let Op and dd stay in their home?

Copperoliverbear · 16/12/2023 23:23

Call the police

Copperoliverbear · 16/12/2023 23:25

Also please let this be the end of your relationship

StaunchMomma · 16/12/2023 23:26

999 NOW!

Your child is in that house with him!
