Dating a guy with an awful first name (light-hearted)

To be clear - this is a lighthearted thread - I know he can't help his name and I'm obviously going to carry on seeing this guy - we met on a dating app and I knew his name before matching with him.. but it's a very unsexy name.. really not a fan of it. Can't figure out a nickname that works either (he's told me a nickname his friends use too and I'm not a fan of that either) - although to be clear he has no idea I have any qualms with his name of course!

So for anyone else who's ever done this - I assume you just get used to the name after a while and it stops being so strange!?... Um.. right...!?

Feel free to guess his name/give me your worst names for a guy and if it would ever stop you from dating him?

Went on two dates with a Wayne once. The deal break was that he told me his daughter was called Demi.

I only had three boyfriends before I met my husband, the one I had when I was 18 and the one I had when I was 28 had the same name, Barry! I don't especially like my husband's name but it is an improvement on the Barrys.

I once encountered a man by the name of Royston. I don't know if all/most men known as Roy are just Roy or if they all have the full name of Royston?!

I can't say what his surname was, as it would be very outing (no, it's not 'Vasey'!), but both names said together sound exactly like a typical exclamation of surprise that Robin would have made to Batman Grin

me too...not over fond of soap or toothpaste I recall

Just to add, yes I did get used to the name.

You can always call him by his initials, we call a friend with a hard to prounounce first name, SJ, and thats how he is known, as long as his surname doesnt begin with J you are fine :)

As long as his surname doesn't start with a J......

Cedric
Colin
Rupert

Just start calling him babe.

I had to shout on my husband on holiday to get his attention, felt weird using his actual name because I always just call him babe. And he has a nice first name.

I’m just trying to get into the headspace of a new mum, gazing down at her newly arrived, cute as a button little bundle of joy and deciding the perfect name for him is… Barry

Martin
Carl
Lee

I had a Carl pick me up for a date, in a white transit van. The name was bad enough but the van finished it off. The Martin turned up in one of those thin leather ties...ick 🙆😂😅
